Chapter 563 Kiss in the Snow

Ashley was captivated by the scene and couldn't walk away immediately.

Not far away, Jasper walked over with an umbrella. Upon seeing Ashley, he immediately changed his route, walked over quickly, handed her the umbrella, and scratched his head awkwardly, "Ashley, could you give this umbrella to Mr. Hearst? I need to help Mr. Collins with his medication, and Natalia is waiting for me to play with her."

Ashley looked down at the black long-handled umbrella in her hand. She wanted to refuse, but Jasper ran off after speaking and quickly disappeared into the snowy scene.

Frowning, Ashley opened the umbrella and walked towards Damian.

He seemed unaware that the snow was falling heavier, with the density of the snowflakes clearly increasing, as if intending to cover the entire world.

Who knows how important the documents he was reading were, his attention was so focused.

Step by step, the distance wasn't far, and it didn't take long before Ashley held the large umbrella over Damian's head, covering a part of the sky, but the snowflakes weren't falling straight down, and many still landed on them.

Using an umbrella in the snow didn't seem very effective.

"Don't you know it's snowing?" Ashley's tone wasn't very good, she really couldn't understand what Damian was thinking.

Was he trying to be romantic like those young boys in the snow? It really didn't suit his character.

Damian put down the documents and looked up. The falling snow scattered the light from the street lamps, creating a warm white mist that was beautiful and gentle, like a light veil.

Because of this, his eyes were also exceptionally gentle, like soft snow, light feathers.

In his pupils, a cluster of lights was reflected.

"I didn't notice, the first snow of the season came quite early today."

He didn't intend to take the umbrella, naturally staying under hers, looking at the courtyard scenery, especially the row of decorative holly trees outside, quickly covered with a thin layer of snow, revealing green inside, the color was beautiful.

Ashley had one hand in her coat pocket, the other holding the umbrella handle. The temperature was too low, her hand holding the umbrella was very cold, almost numb, and losing sensation.

But she inexplicably didn't scold him or ask Damian to be sensible and go inside quickly.

Following Damian's gaze, she saw the scenery in the large courtyard, very different from usual, all covered in snow, looking incredibly romantic, like a pure new world.

Damian said, "We haven't watched the snow together before."

A statement, with a hint of barely noticeable regret.

Ashley replied in a flat tone, without much emotion, "No, every time it snowed, we missed it for some reason."

Damian said, "It seems many people like snowy days. Even TV shows like to set scenes in the snow, only then can they achieve the best dramatic effect. What about you? Do you like snow?"

Ashley looked up, watching the large snowflakes falling against the street lamp, like scattered dandelions, "I used to like it more, snowy days always gave a dreamy feeling, especially those years when TV dramas were popular, always talking about the first snow and whatnot, making girls subconsciously think that as long as it snowed, something magical would happen. Even if there was no story, walking in the snow with someone you like was romantic enough. Isn't there a saying, walking in the snow with the one you love, you unknowingly grow old together? Now I'm more clear-headed, understanding that snow is just a very ordinary natural phenomenon, no different from rain or hail, and melting snow takes away the surrounding heat, making it colder."

Ashley never thought that the words she wanted to say to him back then, she would still say after so long.

But time has passed, and her mindset has long changed.

The passionate heart of a young girl has cooled, leaving only the reality tempered by life.

Damian naturally asked, "Did you ever think about it? A magical story on a snowy day."

Ashley shrugged lightly, "Not really."

"So there was something, what was it?"

Ashley smiled slightly, her slender figure standing in the snow, the wind blowing her long hair, snowflakes falling on her hair, her face under the hair smooth and glowing, with big eyes and a cute nose, making her red lips look even more charming. This smile was particularly captivating.

Damian's throat tightened inexplicably, swallowing twice.

Ashley said, "It was about you, but it's all in the past."

A very indifferent tone, clearly someone recounting the past without feeling pain or sadness.

Damian felt a strange flutter in his chest, and his heart rate quickened for a moment.

Back then, Ashley must have hoped he would be by her side, even if it was just walking in the snow.

But unfortunately, now he couldn't even walk with her.

After a moment of silence, Damian said, "Do you want a drink?"

Ashley was a bit surprised because Damian actually took out a gift box from beside the sofa, inside was a bottle of red wine, two wine glasses, and a corkscrew.

Damian's slender fingers twisted the corkscrew, the cork popped out, and a rich aroma of wine immediately wafted out, exuding an expensive and luxurious scent.

Ashley didn't pay attention to the brand of the red wine, knowing that this aroma meant something.

The wine swirled in the crystal glass, the aroma becoming stronger.

While waiting for the wine to breathe, Ashley smiled, "Did you know it would snow today, so you prepared this?"

Damian said, "The weather forecast didn't say it would snow today, I'm not that good at predicting the future. The red wine was brought by Thomas. There was a charity auction last night, this bottle was good, so I bought it."

"Quite a coincidence."

"Also lucky." Damian smiled, handing a glass to Ashley.

The clinking of glasses made a crisp sound.

Ashley took a sip, recognizing it as a top luxury red wine from Eurostan's Emeraldia winery, starting at tens of thousands of dollars per bottle, and the unique items at auctions were even harder to measure in monetary terms.

No wonder Damian, a glass of wine, a meal, was equivalent to several months of expenses for an average family.

Ashley couldn't help but mock herself, she had indeed become practical, realistic, rough, previously opening red wine without batting an eye, now couldn't help but convert it into various more urgent living supplies, being calculative.

"No wonder people say, people from different social classes shouldn't live together, the differences are too great. For example, now, you're tasting wine, and I can't help but think, if this money were given to ordinary people, how happy they would be, they could get a better car or buy some household appliances."

Damian didn't think Ashley was vulgar at all, instead, he smiled, "It's my fault for being too tacky, ruining the atmosphere of such a beautiful snowy scene. If you don't like red wine, I'll put it away and won't buy it again."

Ashley found it amusing, playing with the wine glass, swirling it a few times, red wine, white snow, an elegant man, what a beautiful combination.

"Let's not spoil the mood, thank you for the red wine, it's expensive, but nothing else can create such a good atmosphere. It doesn't waste such a beautiful snowy scene, it's a nice memory."

Damian clinked her glass again, inadvertently seeing her lips moistened by the wine, his throat tightened even more, a spark of desire igniting in his lower abdomen.

"Do you want to sit down?"

Ashley looked at the dry spot beside him, not thinking much, her arm tired from holding the umbrella.

She sat down next to him, lowering her arm.

Damian naturally took the umbrella, holding it, "Put your hand in your pocket to warm up."

Her hand was red from the cold, Damian had wanted to tell her to go inside to warm up, but if he said that, he couldn't watch the snow with her, so he held back, gritting his teeth. He didn't say anything.

Ashley's left hand was numb, she rubbed it vigorously a few times and blew on it to warm up, frowning, displeased, "It's all your fault! Staying in the courtyard in heavy snow, you're not a three-year-old child."

"Because there's one more thing to do."

Damian suddenly turned, his free hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer, his thin lips covering hers, the rich aroma of wine mingling with the wet kiss, exchanging deeply.
