Chapter 290 The Cunning Hannah

Hannah's eyes lit up with excitement. She was dying for Ashley to put Lynn in her place. Even if she couldn't, at least she could totally outshine her, making sure Lynn wouldn't dare to mock or spread rumors about her again!

Ashley, though, had zero interest in playing mind games with Lynn. She was all about success, fame, bringing Astor Group back to life, and reuniting her family. She didn't care about anything else.

So, she just gave Hannah a playful tap on the nose, "Hannah, where'd you pick up these sneaky tricks? You can't act like this if you're gonna stick with me."

Hannah tuned out everything else, only hearing "stick with me" loud and clear. She almost jumped across the table to hug Ashley, nearly planting a kiss on her face, "Ashley, you finally said I could learn from you! I'm so touched."

Hannah bent at a perfect ninety-degree angle, bowing like she was in some kind of ceremony.

Ashley couldn't help but laugh, "Alright, no need for all that, but there are a few things you gotta remember if you're gonna learn from me."

"Yes! Tell me, I can remember however many points you have!" Hannah said eagerly.

Ashley said, "First, nothing's perfect, so focus on what's important and don't get too stubborn."

Hannah lowered her head, recalling the first rule she had just broken, and then responded, "Yes."

"Second, never take a case where you know the person is guilty, no matter how much money they offer," Ashley said.

"Absolutely! I'd never help criminals get away for money! My goal as a lawyer is to uphold justice!" Hannah declared.

Ashley smiled.

She'd only been out in the world a few more years than Hannah, but she'd seen enough deceit and cunning. Completely resisting the lure of money and power was tough.

"Third, everyone is equal before the law. You can't be biased, no matter who the other party is. You must uphold the fairness of the law," Ashley said.

"Yes!" Hannah said.

At that moment, it felt like a scene from a movie, full of passion.

Seeing Hannah's bright anticipation for the future, Ashley didn't want to say too much. She finally said gently, "And one more thing: work never ends, but you only have one body. Take care of your health, and don't overwork yourself."

Hannah was on the verge of tears, feeling like the luckiest person in the world.

After the simple instructions, Ashley had Hannah move her workstation closer to her office.

Hannah hummed a little tune as she happily moved her things, feeling like a bride-to-be.

Riley passed by with an empty coffee cup, seeing Hannah so happy, and asked, "Hannah, what happened? You're so happy."

Hannah didn't like Riley much, "Oh, it's something huge, even better than winning the lottery."

Riley said kindly, "Tell me about it?"

Hannah, holding a thick folder, said, "Sorry, make way."

Riley didn't get an answer, gritted her teeth, and thought, 'This ungrateful little girl, fresh out of school and already so arrogant. You'll cry later!'

After moving her things, Hannah ran into Harold, who had just returned from court. She excitedly jumped up, "Mr. Brin!"

Harold nodded, "Graduated?"

"Graduated! Completed! Mr. Brin, I have good news," Hannah said.

Harold walked towards his office, and she followed. When no one was around, she smiled and said, "Ashley agreed to take me under her wing!"

Harold's hand paused on the doorknob, staring at her flushed, smiling face, "Did you drug her?"

"Cut it out! I begged her shamelessly! With all my persistence and flattery, Ashley finally caved. This is what they mean by 'hard work pays off'!" Hannah said.

Hearing this, Harold's lips twitched as he thought, 'The mysterious man who brings roses twice a week will surely win Ashley's heart.'

Hannah muttered, "Mr. Long lost his leg?"

Harold gave her a light smack on the head, "Nonsense! It's just a fracture. He'll be back to work once it heals."

"Oh!" Hannah said.

She'd heard some wild rumors today, saying that Hendrix had encountered a tsunami, lost a leg, and due to improper treatment, it was eventually amputated.

Rumors were indeed unreliable!

Hannah's eyes rolled, and a mischievous idea popped into her head.

In the afternoon, Ashley had arranged to meet Tina, but Tina turned her down over the phone.

Ashley frowned, suspecting Lynn had said something to Tina.

Hannah eagerly suggested, "Ashley, let me talk to Lynn for a bit."

Ashley asked, "What bad idea do you have now?"

"None at all; I always do things openly and honestly!" Hannah said.

Ashley indulged her, "Go ahead, but don't go too far."

Hannah saw Lynn heading to the restroom and followed. When Lynn was washing her hands, she created a perfectly timed encounter, "Lynn, how can you still have the mood to work?"

Lynn gently washed her hands and looked at her through the mirror, "What do you mean? I can't work?"

Hannah sighed, "Oh, poor Mr. Long. Just a few days after breaking up, his ex-girlfriend is so ungrateful. He lost his leg, and you don't even go to see him."

Lynn's movements paused, "He really lost his leg?"

She thought the rumors were false. Could it be that Hendrix really lost a leg?

Hannah nodded, her eyes welling up with tears, "Yes, Mr. Long was so handsome, but now he's lost a leg. He'll never walk in a suit with that confident stride again. People with disabilities often feel inferior. He probably won't find a girlfriend as beautiful and capable as you, Lynn. He's probably regretting it now."

Lynn's mind started to turn.

If Hendrix lost a leg, he wouldn't be as proud as before. If she stayed by his side, would she win his heart?

Taking advantage of Lynn's hesitation, Hannah continued, "Hendrix's leg injury is a secret. Only Ashley knows the room number, and she told me not to say anything."

Lynn's expression changed, and she smiled as she reached for Hannah's hand, "Hannah, I've always been good to you, right?"

Half an hour later, Hannah happily went to find Ashley, peeking through the door with half her face, blinking mischievously, "Ready to go? Let's meet Tina."

Ashley smiled, "Did you really manage it?"

Hannah's eyes curved with a smile, "That Lynn is so gullible, she believes anything! I told her that if she wanted to see Mr. Long, she had to let Tina meet us first. Then I told her that seeing Hendrix would give her a chance to win back lost love and waiting for her would be the position of Mrs. Long in the Long family. Tina is nothing compared to that! She actually believed me!"

Ashley held her forehead, truly amazed by Hannah's cunning.

At 7:30, the two drove to the agreed location.

Hannah looked at the classical and luxurious garden restaurant in Emerald Lakeside Gardens, a bit puzzled, "Why did Tina arrange to meet here? Shouldn't it be in a coffee shop or something?"

Ashley smirked, "Do you think Lynn is an idiot? She might have arranged for Tina to meet us, but she definitely added more information, telling Tina to bring backup and be cautious. I bet there are at least three people inside. Do you want to bet?"

"That woman is so scheming!" Hannah said.
