Chapter 478 Damian in the Quilt

"What a casual way to avoid the rain."

"One moment he's with a beautiful woman under the moonlight, and the next he's here flirting with me. Does he think this is a buffet where he can switch flavors at will?"

Ashley crossed her arms and sneered, "Mr. Hearst, how did you end up avoiding the rain in my room? This hotel is huge, don't tell me you accidentally walked into the wrong room. It's pouring outside, your think tank will be back soon. Mr. Hearst, you're high and mighty, no one dares to say anything to you, but I'm just an ordinary person. If someone finds out, it would be hard to explain. Please, Mr. Hearst, leave. You can hide in the top-floor suite however you like."

She criticized him without even pausing for breath. No wonder she's a sharp-tongued lawyer. Damian raised an eyebrow playfully, "I only said four words, and you said so much. Do you feel better now? What's wrong with your face?"

At first, Damian paced around the room, deliberately avoiding facing her directly. After she finished speaking, he turned around, and what he saw made his heart skip a beat!

Ashley's fair and clean face was covered in a complex pattern of bruises. What happened?

How did she end up like this?

Ashley was too busy venting her anger and forgot about the ugly marks on her face. She turned away and sat on the sofa, grabbing a pillow to cover half of her face. "It's exactly what you see."

Damian grabbed her wrist and took the pillow away, forcing her to look at him. Seeing her face up close made his heart ache even more. His eyes narrowed, "Who did this?"

Ashley was taken aback. Did this guy learn his investigative skills from a detective squad? "I did it to myself."

"Don't be ridiculous. These injuries are clearly caused by external force. What outdoor activity did you do today? Who were you with? Where did you fall?"

He pinpointed the problem with one look. Ashley was both angry and a bit touched, but she quickly pushed that feeling aside and said with a sullen face, "Mr. Hearst, you asked me so many questions in one breath, how am I supposed to answer?"

"Answer all of them." Damian had no patience for her stubbornness. Looking at her injuries made him both angry and anxious.

Ashley opened her mouth, then closed it, thinking for a moment before saying, "I can answer, but I'm not sure if it was an accident. After all, rock climbing has its risks."

"Rock climbing? Did someone kick you off?"

Ashley suspected Damian had installed surveillance, "Sort of. A female colleague from the legal department was above me, and we both fell. Her foot happened to kick my face."

Damian pulled her hand closer to her face to get a better look, "Does it hurt?"

He was so close that his breath tickled her face, making it tingle.

The pain seemed to lessen a bit.

Ashley pulled back, "What do you think? Of course, it hurts."

Damian took out his phone and dialed a number, "I'm at Nine Creeks Garden. Send some top-quality external injury medicine, quickly."

After he finished, he continued their conversation, "Who?"

From his tone, it seemed he wanted to avenge her.

Ashley didn't want to cause conflict in the legal department because of her. Emma was actually very capable, probably just annoyed by her special treatment. "No need for Mr. Hearst to intervene. I can handle this small matter myself."

"Afraid of being bad-mouthed?"

"You know and still ask?"

"This is your status; you should enjoy the privileges."

"What status? I don't even know I have a status."

Ashley laughed and asked, did she have a status? Wasn't she just a "personal secretary" disguised as an assistant?

Damian asked, "What status do you want?"

"I..." Ashley was speechless.

Yeah, what status did she want? Where did she get the confidence to ask for a status? She joined KM to get her practice certificate back, she shouldn't expect more.

The door knocked again.

"Someone's coming, hide!"

Damian's face darkened, "Hide where?"

This was a standard room with a king-size bed, no suite. The only place to hide was the bathroom, but asking Damian to hide there?

Dream on.

Ashley gritted her teeth, dragged Damian to the bed, used all her strength to push him down, took off his shoes and hid them behind the curtains, covered him with the blanket, and threw clothes from the suitcase on top, "Don't make a sound!"

Under the blanket, Damian remained silent.

"Ms. Astor, what were you doing? It took you so long to open the door."

Cheryl walked in with a bag of snacks, looking around cheerfully, "Did you take a nap?"

Ashley scratched her head, "Had nothing to do, so I took a nap. Woke up too early this morning, felt sleepy."

"Me too. I was afraid of missing the bus, so I got up early."

Ashley pointed at the snacks, "What's this?"

"Came to chat with you. The outdoor activities were canceled. They split into several groups, some playing mahjong, some swimming, and a few went for a spa. I'm on my period, can't do those, so I came for a tea party with you."

"Sure, I was craving some snacks too."

"Really? I thought Ms. Astor, with your great skin, must be very disciplined with your diet and never eat junk food. These are all famous snacks, try them all."

Ashley went to boil water for tea while Cheryl laid out the snacks, "Ms. Astor, where are the fruits Ms. Lee bought for you?"

She couldn't say she didn't want to touch them and threw them all away, "I'm allergic to mangoes, gave them away."

"Really? Then no fruits." Cheryl said, turning on the TV and choosing the most popular reality show.

When Ashley came back, she took the trash can contents to the curtain area, placed the empty trash can by Cheryl's feet, and glanced at the bed.

Stayed there! Served you right!

"What do you want to talk about?" Ashley sat down and grabbed a pistachio.

Cheryl hesitated, "Ms. Astor, do you think I'm gossipy?"

"All women gossip."

Cheryl stuffed her mouth with food and quickly swallowed, "Office culture can be so frustrating. You can't say much to colleagues because you'll be betrayed in no time. So, I can only talk to you. Since our time together in Eirondia, I found you very special. Though a bit aloof, you're kind-hearted and don't like to gossip..."

Ashley frowned, "Enough with the prelude. What do you want to say?"

Cheryl smiled awkwardly, "Ms. Astor, did you know a girl in finance likes Mr. Rivera, but Mr. Rivera likes Ms. Lee? Ms. Lee openly said she likes men like Mr. Hearst, but how could Mr. Hearst be interested in her? Besides, Mr. Hearst has a girlfriend."

Ashley cracked a seed and laughed, "So lively, the company could film a romance drama."

Cheryl asked curiously, "Ms. Astor, aren't you curious who Mr. Hearst's girlfriend is?"

"Who is it?"

A beautiful ringtone suddenly came from the bed!

Ashley flinched, dropping the seed.

Cheryl, clueless, reminded her, "Ms. Astor, your phone is ringing."

Ashley calmly clapped her hands, "Wait, I'll get it."

Before she could stand, the blanket piled with stuff suddenly rose like a mountain, and then a head popped out, followed by Damian's emotionless, cold face.

He nonchalantly took out his phone and put it to his ear, "Speak."
