Chapter 551 Men's Lies Are the Most Harmful

Sean carried the soup and dishes that Mabel had personally prepared and drove to visit Ashley.

As soon as he entered, Sophie was so surprised that she couldn't close her mouth.

"Oh my God, I've never seen such a handsome, clean-cut man. He looks even better than the celebrities my son follows."

"Excuse me, is Ashley here?" Sean asked politely.

Sophie finally came to her senses and hurriedly bent down to find men's slippers. "Yes, Ms. Astor fell and is having trouble moving. She's lying on the sofa in the living room."

Sophie was about to take the gifts from him when Sean said, "These are all ready to eat. Could you please serve them in the kitchen? Thank you."

"It's no trouble at all. Please come in, and I'll take care of it in the kitchen."

"Alright."

Sean changed into the slippers and walked to the living room. From a distance, he saw Ashley lying there, reading a book seriously. One arm was propping up her chin, and the other was turning the pages. Her long hair was tied in a loose, low ponytail, looking lazy and comfortable, like a beautiful cat.

"Aren't you afraid of getting a sore neck? That position looks tiring."

Hearing this, Ashley looked up. "Didn't I tell you to come tomorrow? Why are you here now? I'm not recovering that quickly."

Sean sat across from her. "My mom specifically made some food for you and insisted that I bring it over."

Ashley felt a bit embarrassed. "It's just a minor issue. I didn't hurt any bones, so I'll be fine soon."

Sean said, "It's her kind gesture. Besides, you can try my mom's cooking. She doesn't cook often."

Ashley felt shy and said, "It's too much trouble for her. Please thank her for me."

"If you want to thank her, you can do it yourself next time. I'm not responsible for passing on messages," Sean said playfully.

Ashley laughed. "Are you trying to trick me into going to your house?"

"You can also see it as a sincere invitation," Sean said with a smile.

"Alright, after the case is over."

Sean was very surprised. He did hope Ashley would come over, and he didn't deny that he had a little scheme, but he didn't expect Ashley to agree. "You're not joking?"

"Of course not. Last time, your dad went to great lengths to help me, and I haven't thanked him in person yet. It's only right to combine the two visits."

Soon, Sophie came out with the soup and dishes. "Ms. Astor, where would you like to eat?"

Smelling the delicious food and rib soup, Ashley felt hungry. "The living room is fine."

After setting the table, Sophie prepared two sets of utensils and smiled meaningfully. "Ms. Astor, you two enjoy. Call me if you need anything."

Ashley introduced, "This is Mr. Ross, one of the best lawyers in Rochester City."

Sophie suddenly felt like she was meeting a big shot and became flustered. "Hello, Mr. Ross. Lawyers are smart and wealthy."

Sean modestly said, "Not too bad."

Ashley held back her laughter. If Sophie knew Sean's true identity, she might go weak in the knees.

Unable to sit up, Ashley found it awkward to eat with a fork.

Sean couldn't stand it and walked over to her. "Let me help you."

As he sat down, the sofa sank, bringing them closer together. With the heating on, the temperature was much higher than outside. When they looked at each other, the atmosphere became ambiguous.

Sean's ears turned red instantly.

Ashley laughed. "Do you get embarrassed so easily?"

Sean denied it. "No, it's just that the heating is too high. It's hot."

Ashley wanted to laugh even more. "Weren't you going to help me?"

Sean was momentarily stunned, then he reached under her arms, lifted her up, and used his shoulder as a support, letting her lean comfortably.

Ashley half-sat, half-leaned, and the two of them were intimately close, the warmth between them growing stronger.

"It's really delicious. The rib soup is not greasy at all, very refreshing."

"My mom says she has a secret recipe. She might teach it to you."

"That wouldn't be right. It's your family's secret recipe. It shouldn't be shared with outsiders."

Sean said, "You're not an outsider."

Ashley's ears also turned a bit red, and she coughed.

Thomas was stunned by the warm and romantic scene in the living room, sweating profusely.

If Damian saw this, wouldn't he go crazy?

"Ms. Astor, having dinner?"

Ashley suddenly turned her head and saw three people, two adults and one child. The little one was in Thomas's arms, and the scene was surprisingly harmonious and also strangely eerie.

"Thomas?"

Isn't Samantha here? Why would they need him?

Thomas put down Natalia, smiled, and nodded at Sean as a greeting. "Mr. Hearst was worried and specifically asked me to safely bring them over."

Samantha said, "Mr. Hearst gave Natalia many gifts. I couldn't carry them all by myself, so I asked Thomas to come along."

Ashley responded, "Tell Mr. Hearst that he spent too much. Natalia is still young and doesn't need so many things. He shouldn't buy more in the future."

Thomas looked troubled. "You should tell him that yourself tomorrow. Also, Samantha said the heating at home is too high. I'll help you adjust it."

Ashley said, "Mr. Ross already adjusted it."

Sean didn't deny it and went along with her words.

Thomas had to retract his steps and awkwardly laughed. "Alright then, if there's nothing else, I'll head back."

Ashley didn't hold back. "Okay, take care."

Thomas was speechless.

Not even a polite invitation to stay?

Is Ashley determined to cut ties with Damian? Even he's being excluded.

Samantha, however, was straightforward. "Don't leave yet. Help me bring the things from the car."

Thomas gladly complied. "Sure!"

Natalia, wearing a brand-new princess dress, her little face rosy, said, "Auntie, Uncle bought me new clothes. Do they look good?"

Ashley glanced at the dress. It was beautiful and obviously a high-end brand. "Natalia, haven't I told you not to accept gifts from others casually? Did you forget what I said?"

Natalia became very uneasy, her little hands constantly tugging at the tulle of her dress. "Is Uncle also considered 'others'?"

"Of course! Except for family, everyone else is an outsider. Don't let Uncle buy you things anymore."

Natalia pursed her lips. "Understood."

Sean, seeing the child being scolded, couldn't bear it. "Ashley, Natalia is still so young. She doesn't understand these things. She'll remember next time. Don't be too hard on her."

Natalia, hearing someone defend her, didn't dare to speak up, just lowered her head and admitted her mistake.

But Ashley didn't relent, speaking sternly, "It's important to educate her from a young age. Otherwise, when she grows up, she might get carried away by small benefits. Men's lies can be the most harmful. I'm doing this for her own good."

Sean bent down and patted Natalia's head. "Natalia, Ashley isn't mad at you. She's protecting you. Don't be upset with her, okay?"

Natalia nodded seriously, her head bobbing up and down. "I understand, Uncle Sean."

Then she blinked and asked, "Auntie, is Uncle Sean also an outsider?"
