Chapter 326 Truly Wicked
Damian hung up just as the car pulled up to KM Tower.
Thomas spotted the car and hustled over, "Mr. Hearst."
Damian didn't break stride, moving with a smooth, confident grace. His tall frame made quite the impression in the lobby, catching everyone's eye.
Seeing Damian in person was a rare treat for the folks at KM.
With a cold look and a hint of danger in his eyes, Damian asked, "Did you find out?"
Thomas kept up with him, the two of them causing a bit of a scene, their presence hard to ignore. "Yeah, the head of security gave Benjamin your address and license plate for a hundred grand in cash."
Damian's lips twisted into a silent smirk, "Just a hundred grand to sell my info."
Thomas hit the elevator button, and the VIP elevator shot up smoothly. "There's more. This security guard works for Mr. Victor Hearst."
"Oh?" Damian hummed, intrigued.
Thomas had dug up that Victor's department hired the guard, who initially worked on Victor's floor. Later, he got moved to the upper floors, specifically to the executive office, where he could keep tabs on Damian's daily activities.
"What's Victor up to? Should we handle him now?" Thomas asked. Damian sneered, "Hiding right under my nose without anyone noticing, he's pretty good. Since he's good at this, let's feed him some material."
Thomas got the hint. Damian wanted to pass false info to make Victor screw up. "So..."
The elevator doors opened, and Damian stepped out first, his injured hand in his pocket, showing no signs of pain. "My deal with Edward fell through. Victor won't miss the chance to swoop in. Let his informant pass on some messages to give Victor a reason to get close to Edward."
Thomas admired Damian's cunning. He had easily brought the Eirondia project under KM's name and absorbed all the shares of Emperial Avenue Group. Now, he was planning to manipulate someone else into doing the dirty work. "Got it."
The project handed to Edward wouldn't bring good times for long. Soon, Edward would be in trouble, and Victor's informant would naturally be the one to push him.
"Where's Nathan at?" Entering the office, Damian sat behind the big desk like he was just asking about the weather.
Thomas replied, "The deputy director of marketing is on maternity leave, and Mr. Victor Hearst has placed him there, saying it's for training."
Damian opened a file, smiling faintly, "Typical brothers, same job preferences."
One was a VP, the other a deputy manager.
Quite self-aware.
Thomas asked, "Should we evaluate him?"
Damian finished reading the file and signed it with a decisive stroke, "He's just a rookie. Let him mess around. KM is full of hidden currents; he won't cause much trouble."
Thomas silently pitied Nathan, "About tonight's event..."
"Let Victor attend. Doesn't he love to show off and mingle? Sean's whole family will be there tonight, so let him make himself useful," Damian said.
He was still pretty annoyed by Victor's eagerness to suck up to Sean. A Hearst lowering himself to please another family's scion was just pathetic!
"Yes, Mr. Hearst," Thomas said.
The buzz about Ashley's big win had died down in the legal world, but the Ross family was still all over it. Sean had lost track of how many times Peterson had brought up Ashley's name.
Peterson chuckled, "No wonder I picked her as my niece-in-law the moment I saw her! Ashley is something else, truly extraordinary!"
Sean adjusted his tie and straightened his suit jacket in the mirror, "Uncle Peterson, you talk her up so much. If she doesn't marry me, won't you be bummed?"
"Bummed? You've got undeniable charm! If you can't win her over, who can?" Peterson said.
Sean checked his look one last time and walked out of the dressing room, "She's got brains and ambition. She wouldn't want to be tied down with household stuff, and I don't want to trap her with marriage. That wouldn't be fair."
Peterson frowned, "Who said anything about trapping her? If you two get hitched, she can make big moves in the legal field! I can set her up in the courts!"
Sean gave Peterson a serious look, hinting at something, "Uncle Peterson, you pride yourself on being fair and just, never playing favorites. If someone with bad intentions hears this, won't you lose your position?"
"Hahaha!" Peterson laughed.
After getting ready, Sean said, "I'll go call Mom and Dad. Tonight's event is tied to the next election, and there will likely be both open and hidden battles."
As he spoke, he passed by the floor-to-ceiling window on the first floor and saw a tall figure outside the villa.
Her again?
Peterson also noticed someone at the door and asked, "Who is it?"
Sean replied, "A lawyer from Sky Balance Law Firm, specializes in divorce cases. She was involved in Robert's case last time but later withdrew."
"Oh? So, she's both a competitor and collaborator with Ashley? What's she doing here?" Peterson said.
Sean was puzzled but couldn't be sure, "Last time I saw her, I thought she was lost. Didn't expect her to come again. Maybe she lives nearby."
Peterson didn't think much of it and continued, "You should ask Ashley out. I told your Aunt that whenever Ashley comes, she'll prepare a feast. Your parents are often away, so I have to look after you."
Sean felt a headache coming on, "This can't be rushed. If we rush, we'll scare her away."
After work, Ashley took a cab to the cemetery. Under the driver's puzzled gaze, she started her car and drove to the location Damian had sent.
Half an hour later, she stopped outside a working factory.
It was a beer processing plant, and the air was thick with the sweet smell of crushed grains.
Ashley closed the car door, and the sweet smell grew stronger. At first, it was pleasant, but after a while, it became nauseating.
Damian's car arrived just before hers. He got out, dressed in a matte black suit, exuding a cold and aloof aura that seemed out of place with the surroundings. "Let's go in."
Ashley glanced at the white smoke coming from the chimney on the right side of the factory, "You sure know how to pick a place."
The path to the factory was paved with clean stone slabs, and cherry trees in full bloom lined both sides. Trellises and a basketball court made the environment quite pleasant.
Damian said, "This is Steven's factory."
Ashley paused, "His place?"
Damian smirked, "Steven has been locked up for so many days and still doesn't know where he is. Do you think he'll be even angrier when he finds out?"
Ashley thought, 'Angry? He'll probably regret it to death.'
Ashley chuckled, "You really are bad."
