Chapter 472 An Idiot at Comforting People
Ashley's pajama buttons were torn off, and she could only hold herself. "I wasn't trying to run, I was just thirsty and wanted some water!"
After saying this, she bolted out the door.
With the sound of a door slamming shut,
Ashley slammed the door loudly.
The whole set of actions was smooth and crisp.
Locked inside, Damian smirked and rubbed his temples helplessly.
He turned to look at the messy bed and the scattered paper boxes on it, tidied up, and put them back in the drawer.
Could she hide now and forever?
So childish.
But what now? The wound on his back couldn't be washed with cold water, should he do it himself?
Damn it, just endured it.
Ashley ran into her room, closed the door, locked it, and lay on the bed with her heart pounding.
She didn't know if it was because she was angry or because of the stimulation from everything that just happened.
The next morning.
A smarter Ashley got up early to make breakfast, then went back to her room to get dressed. For safety, she specifically chose a shirt with many buttons, buttoned it up to the top, paired it with wide-leg chiffon pants, styled her long hair into a loose updo, and even put on light makeup.
It was only six o'clock when she finished getting ready. She exhaled, took the ointment, and went upstairs.
Ashley knocked on the door, "Mr. Hearst, are you up?"
Damian's back wound hurt last night, making it hard to endure, and he didn't fall asleep until two or three in the morning. He was woken up by his biological clock in the early morning, feeling very irritable.
Hearing Ashley's voice, the anger he had suppressed for hours flared up again.
Damian looked down at himself; his natural reaction this morning was stronger than usual.
Afraid of scaring her, he loosely tied a towel around his waist, frowned, and opened the door, "Up so early today?"
After saying this, he looked Ashley up and down, "Came prepared?"
Dressed neatly, did she think he wouldn't do anything?
As an experienced person, Ashley could tell from his voice and tone that Damian was not to be messed with, and it was best not to stay in the bedroom, "You get ready, I'll wait for you in the living room to apply the ointment. Breakfast is ready, it will get cold if it waits too long. Hurry up, there's a board meeting this morning, can't be late."
Every word hinted at him not to think about anything else.
Damian's face turned ugly.
Under Ashley's urging, he quickly washed up, applied the ointment, and ate breakfast in his pajamas.
"Today's fried egg is much better."
Fried on both sides, it didn't look great, but at least it wasn't broken into pieces, and it wasn't burnt.
Even so, Ashley wasted three eggs before succeeding.
Damian picked it up and took a bite, "What I want to eat isn't eggs."
Ashley thought she had done something wrong again, "What do you want to eat? I'll make something different tomorrow morning."
"You."
The atmosphere turned cold, and the conversation ended.
As usual, Ashley drove him to the company. In the underground garage, Damian went upstairs first, and Ashley stayed in the car for a while.
It was during this time that she saw Victor.
Ashley didn't want to greet him, but Victor saw her in the car and walked over with a smile, "Morning."
Ashley got out of the car, holding her bag, "Morning."
After an awkward chat, Victor said, "I heard from Evelina that last night Grandpa and the others had dinner outside and got into an argument, and Damian got hit."
So cunning, Nathan was also there, and he must have vividly described the incident at home, but he brought up Evelina to take the blame.
Ashley remained composed, "It wasn't really a hit, elders can get emotional sometimes, and it was just a tap with a cane, just happened to be in a coincidental spot. The chairman cares so much about Mr. Hearst, he wouldn't really hurt him."
Victor heard that Anthony hit hard, causing Damian to bleed from his head and get several hits on his back.
With a light laugh, Victor said, "It's because he values him that he's extra strict. If it were someone else, Grandpa might not even bother to teach a lesson."
"Not necessarily, they're all family. I believe the chairman treats everyone equally."
Victor started walking, inviting her to walk with him. When they reached the VIP elevator, he said, "You and Damian, have you reconciled?"
"Just cooperating, Mr. Hearst has a case, and I'm providing legal consultation, nothing else."
Victor found it hard to believe.
He had seen them arrive at the company in the same car more than once, indicating they lived together. Saying it was just work was hard to believe, "Damian has many women around him, but you two seem the most compatible. I really hope you can get back together."
Victor pretended to be kind, but his words couldn't be fully trusted.
But his mention of many women still stung Ashley.
"We truly loved each other, and I always wish him well."
"If those women were as magnanimous as you, Damian would really enjoy the best of both worlds."
Damn it!
The elevator arrived, and Ashley was worried about not having a reason not to ride with him when her phone rang. She was delighted, "Sorry, Vice President, I have to take this call. You go ahead."
"You're busy."
Entering the elevator, Victor pressed the vice president's floor, his gaze coldly fixed on the president's office floor, clenching his fist!
One floor, just one floor difference, and he was always under Damian's foot.
"Mr. Ross?"
Sean hadn't contacted her in a long time.
"Am I disturbing you?"
Ashley wanted to say, you called at the perfect time, "Not at all, what is it?"
Sean seemed to be choosing his words, hesitating for two or three seconds, "I heard about your situation."
Although Ashley's license was revoked, it was done secretly. Trinity didn't make a big deal out of it, probably fearing that if it got out that she was Damian's ex-wife, it would implicate the Hearst family, and then the Bezos family would be finished.
But as a judicial colleague and a member of a prominent family, Sean Ross could easily find out.
"Couldn't hide it from you, Mr. Ross, sorry to make you laugh."
"Don't say that, I'm already ashamed I didn't help in time. I've been dealing with some family matters recently, and work has been on hold. Do you have any plans? I can do my best to help."
Damian's words popped into Ashley's mind, that she wasn't worthy of Sean and would only drag his family down, "I'm fighting for a chance, there's still hope. This matter is not in accordance with the rules, please don't get involved. This favor is too big, I don't want to owe you, please don't help me privately."
She made it clear, cutting off Sean's intention to help. If Sean really used his connections to help her, it would leave traces and become leverage.
A loose nail could destroy the whole plane.
She believed Sean would understand.
"I respect your decision."
Ashley secretly breathed a sigh of relief, "Have you finished dealing with your family matters? Is everything okay?"
"Not bad, my grandmother passed away, ninety years old, stayed in the ICU for a week, but didn't make it."
Ashley almost bit her tongue, she was really excessive, Sean lost a family member, yet he came to care for her first, and she even doubted his good intentions.
"Sorry, I couldn't offer my condolences in time. Well, your grandmother lived to ninety, that's a good thing. Don't be too sad, comfort your mother, she just lost her mom, she must be very upset."
Sean smiled bitterly, "Girls really know how to comfort people. Although I'm a lawyer, I'm actually an idiot at comforting people, I can only tell her not to cry."
Ashley pursed her lips, thinking about how Sean, a man who lost his wife, had to take care of his child, accompany his mother, and handle work, must be overwhelmed, "If there's anything I can help with, just let me know, don't hesitate."
"Okay, I have another call coming in, see you later."
"Alright, see you."
Ashley went to the president's office to make coffee for Damian.
"The meeting materials are here, Nancy has organized everything."
Damian glanced at it and sneered, "So it was a malicious banquet?"
