Chapter 455 Likes to Hug His Wife

Damian gave him a look that said "figure it out yourself," and said, "Get lost."

Hayden laughed nonchalantly and gave him a push on the arm, "Not cool, man. We've come this far, you should at least thank me, right? After all, these precious doctor hands of mine even helped you assemble furniture."

Hayden was in a good mood and didn't pay attention to his strength when he bumped his arm, immediately hearing Damian's pained groan.

"Did I hit your injured arm? Why does your arm keep having problems? What did you do this time?" As an orthopedic doctor, Hayden naturally took it upon himself to check. With just a touch and a look, he was almost furious, "Are you trying to kill yourself?"

Damian frowned, "Why are you shouting so loud? Are you performing a play?"

Hayden pursed his lips and lowered his voice a bit, "Did you carry Ashley downstairs? With that injured arm of yours?"

Damian's face darkened, and he didn't say anything, which was as good as admitting it.

Hayden immediately turned into an angry dragon, "Do you not want your arm anymore? I warned you last time, be careful and don't lift heavy things. Ashley isn't heavy, but she's still a person, around a hundred pounds. You've got steel pins in there, this isn't a joke. This is the second time... the second time! If you like carrying your wife so much, at least wait until you're healed!"

Damian said impatiently, "I know what I'm doing."

"Come with me to get an X-ray later, don't delay."

In the bathroom next door.

At first, Ashley was conflicted because Hayden suddenly barged in and said those harsh words, making her too embarrassed to go out. But then she heard them talking about Damian's injured arm, and her heart ached.

After hesitating for a moment, she opened the door and pretended nothing was wrong, "What did you get for breakfast?"

Hayden was stunned and thought, oh no, she must have heard everything, "Ashley, you're here? Hahaha, we got a lot, take a look and see what you want. I have a patient to attend to, call me if you need anything."

He then ran off, completely forgetting about breakfast.

In the hospital room with a faint smell of disinfectant, Ashley sat at the table, her eyes glancing at his arm, "Does your arm still hurt?"

Damian unwrapped a fork and said indifferently, "You heard?"

Ashley couldn't pretend to be deaf anymore and nodded, "Yes, Hayden is an orthopedic expert, you should take his advice seriously. Go get an X-ray later, you need to be careful."

Damian looked at the IV bag on the stand, "I'll wait until you're done here."

"My stomach doesn't hurt anymore, the medicine is working. Besides, this IV will take about an hour, you can go when it's time to change the bag."

Damian frowned, clearly worried.

Ashley said, "There are doctors and nurses here, and I can keep an eye on it myself. Don't worry."

Thinking that his arm might worsen because of her, Ashley couldn't bring herself to say anything harsh or show a bad attitude. Most of last night's unpleasantness had dissipated, and she just wanted to make sure he was okay.

"Alright, let's eat first."

They ate quietly, the light and refreshing breakfast warming their stomachs and making them feel much better.

Ashley took a few sips of vegetable porridge, pursed her lips, and casually asked, "Did you two assemble the furniture?"

She had thought it was done by the staff, not realizing it was Damian and Hayden who did it themselves.

It was hard to imagine the distinguished Damian and the pampered Hayden doing such manual labor.

Damian said, "Are you satisfied with the result?"

Ashley smiled, "Yes, very satisfied. It's as good as professional work. It shows that Mr. Hearst, you have many skills and excel at everything you do."

Damian's lips curled slightly, "I'll take that as a compliment."

Ashley smiled.

Wasn't she complimenting him?

Maybe she was overthinking it, but she felt that Damian assembling the furniture himself wasn't just to show off his skills, but because he valued those seemingly insignificant, cheap pieces.

But did he care about her that much?

Damian went to get an X-ray, and Ashley's phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hello? Not working at the law firm anymore, so you're not Mr. Long?" Hendrix's tone was unfriendly and a bit irritable.

Ashley sniffed, "Mr. Long, what can I do for you?"

Hendrix snorted, "I'm sorry."

Ashley took the phone away and looked at it, "Did I hear that right? Mr. Long, are you apologizing to me?"

Hendrix snorted again, "Since you heard it clearly, why play games? I'm apologizing on behalf of my aunt. She didn't tell me the truth, so indirectly, I lied to you. I admit that when she told me this case was against a subsidiary of KM, I instinctively wanted to take it without asking for more details, which led to the failure and caused you to lose the case."

Ashley was a bit surprised and appreciated Hendrix's straightforwardness.

Putting aside his personal life, he was indeed forthright and straightforward.

"It wasn't your fault. Your aunt lost her position, and she was a victim too. Besides, KM is now suing Infinity Enterprises Group, so it's karma."

Hendrix didn't say much about that and instead asked, "Your license was revoked, why didn't you ask me for help? I could have made some calls and gotten it back. In Rochester City, I can't say I have absolute power, but some things aren't too difficult for me."

What could Ashley say? She instinctively didn't want to trouble him or owe him any favors, "I have my ways. I should be able to get it done in about a month."

"You?"

"Don't trust me? Or do you look down on me?"

Hendrix didn't answer. He actually wanted to ask if it had anything to do with Damian, "Since you're not working, you should have plenty of time. If you get bored, remember to call me, I'll take you out."

Ashley laughed, "Can your leg handle it? Take care of yourself first, drink more bone broth."

"Are you concerned about me?" Hendrix asked eagerly.

Ashley stammered, "Sort of."

After all, they had known each other for a long time and were friends.

Hendrix was overjoyed, "Where are you? I'm free today, I'll come see you."

"No need, I have some things to do this month."

Before she could finish, a nurse knocked and entered, "Is your stomach still hurting? Feeling any better?"

Ashley quickly covered the phone and shook her head, "I'm fine."

Hendrix got anxious, "Are you in the hospital? Stomach problems?"

"It's not me, it's a friend. She drank too much at a party. I have to go, I'm keeping her company."

She quickly hung up the phone.

Meanwhile, Hendrix was sitting in the attending doctor's office, eagerly asking as he returned with the X-ray, "Is there any problem?"

Hendrix was the heir to the hospital's shareholders, so the chief doctor didn't dare to neglect him but still had to say what needed to be said, "Mr. Long, have you considered using a cane for a few days? In Europe, using a cane is also a trend and won't affect your image."

Half of Hendrix's face instantly darkened, "You want me to use a cane? Is my leg crippled?"
