Chapter 548 Is It Really That Hard to Take a Few Steps

Ashley still wanted to argue with him, but couldn't resist Natalia's adorable look of excitement, so she swallowed her words.

Natalia usually played alone at home, and from childhood to now, she had experienced mostly suffering and loneliness. Since she liked Damian so much, let her enjoy her time here. Once she recovered and left, her connection with Damian would end.

After a moment, Damian said, "I didn't know my dad would come over today, but don't worry, he won't make things difficult for you."

Ashley didn't think so. Bryan's look was like that of a human trafficker. "I don't care how your parents treat me, but Natalia is just a child. I hope nothing messy happens while she's getting treatment."

Damian promised, "As long as I'm here, absolutely not."

Natalia was reluctant to leave and stayed with Damian for almost two hours.

In the evening, after putting her to sleep, Ashley messaged Blair: [Natalia has adapted to life here and is quite happy. She's been very good about taking her medicine and is eating more than before. Her little face is getting chubbier.]

She then sent a few photos of Natalia playing around.

The next day, Natalia woke up excitedly, dressed herself, put on her shoes, and ate breakfast obediently.

After putting down her bowl, she said seriously, "Auntie, can you take me to Uncle's place? Uncle is taking me to the amusement park!"

Ashley was frustrated. How could a child's memory be so good? She thought a night's sleep would make her forget.

"It's too early. Damian might not be up yet."

At nine o'clock, Natalia reminded her again, "Auntie, is Uncle up? Can I go find him?"

Ashley said, "Damian has to work, Natalia. Be good and read your comic book for a while."

Natalia lowered her head, "Okay."

Finally, at eleven, Natalia tugged on Samantha's clothes, looking up, "Samantha, can you take me to Uncle's place? Let's see if he's off work, okay?"

Samantha tapped her nose, "Ask Ashley. I have to listen to her."

Natalia looked at Ashley with wide eyes and muttered, "Why does everyone have to listen to Auntie? Samantha, Sophie, and even Uncle."

Ashley didn't think Damian listened to her at all!

Unable to resist Natalia's persistence, Ashley called Damian.

Damian answered quickly, in just two or three seconds, "What's up?"

That damn husky voice again.

"Natalia wants to see you. Are you available?"

"Yes, you can come over."

Ashley wished Damian had said he wasn't available, so she could have a legitimate reason to give up.

At the gate of the villa on the hill, Natalia jumped out of the car and started cheering, "Uncle!"

Natalia was so excited that she forgot about her condition and ran into the yard, then she was stunned.

Ashley was also stunned.

The previously empty villa lawn had magically been filled with various children's entertainment facilities overnight: a huge slide, bumper cars, a carousel, and a small Ferris wheel.

It was almost a miniature amusement park.

And these large, dazzling facilities had been completed in just one night.

Having money really was omnipotent.

Ashley closed her surprised mouth and asked Samantha, "What do you think?"

Samantha was indifferent because this was nothing for Damian. "It's okay. Mr. Hearst is very rich. Spending money to do this is simple."

Natalia didn't care about any of that and ran into the house excitedly, "Uncle, are you a magician? Can you do magic? You're amazing! You brought the amusement park home!"

Ashley felt she should say thank you, but also thought Damian was spoiling Natalia too much, "You're spoiling Natalia too much. She'll get spoiled."

Damian remained seated on the sofa, with a computer, documents, and a water cup beside him, "Little girls should be spoiled. It's just a few entertainment facilities, nothing much. You take her to play; I have work to do and can't accompany her."

Natalia was a bit disappointed but still very understanding, "Thank you, Uncle! You're amazing!"

She then cupped Damian's face and gave him a kiss.

The soft, smooth little mouth touched Damian's skin, feeling like a peeled jelly, making the contact area particularly comfortable.

Half of Damian's body went numb, and he smiled awkwardly, "Natalia, be good and go play with Ashley."

Ashley took Natalia to play, and Samantha followed.

Two adults and one child thoroughly experienced a return to childhood.

Children have better stamina than adults. Natalia played and stopped, excited for two hours straight.

Finally, Ashley was too tired. "Natalia, let's play for another five minutes, okay? The things here won't be lost. We can play again tomorrow."

"Okay, Auntie. Then let's play on the slide for a bit longer! Can you hold me while we slide down?"

Ashley held Natalia in her arms, walked up the slide, and when they landed, they shot off the slide, and her butt hit the ground directly!

With the weight of a child in her arms, the force doubled with speed, and she was slammed into the ground.

The pain prevented her from getting up immediately.

Natalia, who was in her arms, was jolted and climbed up in fear, "Auntie."

"Ms. Astor, are you okay?"

Samantha held her shoulder, trying to help her up. Ashley was in so much pain she was about to cry, "Don't move, don't move. I hit my tailbone. Let me rest."

Damian looked out from the living room. The lively laughter in the yard seemed to awaken the entire yard. This once lifeless estate finally had the vitality it deserved.

Ashley was very good at taking care of children. She fed water, wiped sweat, and always had a smile on her face while playing with the child, as if she had returned to her teenage years.

Suddenly hearing a collision, Damian anxiously tried to stand up, but his legs didn't move. After a brief moment of excitement, his upper body fell back helplessly.

Soon, Samantha carried Ashley to the sofa. Martin did a simple check through her clothes, "No bone injury, just some ligament damage and a bruised tailbone. Nothing serious. Apply some ointment and rest for a couple of days."

Ashley was on the verge of collapse. This kind of bad luck had happened to her twice, twice!

The last time in Eirondia, the awkward situation of Damian applying ointment for her came back to her mind.

Natalia was terrified, standing cautiously by her side, "Auntie, does it hurt?"

Ashley, unable to move, could only smile, "It doesn't hurt. I'm an adult, and I'm very brave!"

Damian saw her pained expression and felt a tug at his heart.

It was his fault for not arranging things properly and neglecting safety.

Natalia tugged at Damian's sleeve, "Uncle, can you give Auntie a candy?"

Damian's Adam's apple bobbed, and he rubbed her head, "The candy is in the drawer. Natalia, go get it for her."

Without a word, Natalia ran over.

Samantha took the ointment and cleared her throat, "Mr. Hearst, I need to undress Ms. Astor. Can you step out for a moment?"

Damian turned his head away, "Do your job. Pretend I'm not here."

Ashley got angry, "Damian, can you stop being so self-centered? Last time in Eirondia, I had no choice, and you took advantage of it. Now Samantha needs to apply the ointment for me. Can you step out for a moment? Is it so hard for you to take a few steps?"
