Chapter 480 Make a Wish, I'll Make It Come True
She didn't expose his lie because she didn't want to make the atmosphere too awkward or add more embarrassment to herself. But Damian, how could he be so presumptuous?
Did he really think he could have it all, and all women would flock to him?
"Mr. Hearst, how you want to play is your business, don't involve me. I'm in no condition to go out."
Ashley put in a lot of effort to keep herself from exploding on the spot, afraid that she might accidentally ruin the facade of harmony.
It was really hard to hold back.
"Just because I got out of bed, you're this angry?"
"Yes, you made me look bad in front of others, and there will be endless rumors. We still have half a month of cooperation left. How do you expect me to face KM, to face the people in the legal department? Forget it, I won't go to the legal department anymore. If Mr. Hearst can accept other ways of cooperation, I don't want to step into KM Tower again."
She wasn't angry about that!
I'm angry because those hands of yours have held someone else!
She needed an outlet to release the resentment stuck in her chest, or she would go crazy, she would be furious to death.
When it came to Damian, Ashley admitted she had little patience and was easily emotional. All the knowledge and experience she had accumulated were useless; once the fuse was lit, it was unstoppable.
She couldn't forget the scene of Damian hugging another woman.
A man and a woman alone, how could it just be a hug? When she wasn't looking, they must have done everything!
Those hands that had touched her body had also gently caressed someone else.
Damn it!
"Fine."
With just one word, Damian stepped to the bed, kicked off his shoes, lay down, and covered himself from head to toe with the blanket. A muffled voice came from inside, "Let me know when you're not angry anymore."
Ashley was left speechless by his series of actions. Was Damian out of his mind?
Was he trying to show his sincerity this way?
No wonder he's a top-tier man in the world; he sure has a lot of tricks.
Ashley scoffed, "Alright, Mr. Hearst, if you want to get a heat rash, just keep lying there."
Ashley sat on the sofa peeling sunflower seeds, placing the peeled seeds in a small dish, quickly accumulating a small pile.
Damian lay quietly on the bed, motionless, without a sound.
Ashley bit her lip. "What exactly do you want?"
"Are you still mad?" came the voice from under the blanket.
Ashley asked, "Why are you here?"
"To find you."
"I didn't say come to my room. Why are you at Nine Creeks Garden?"
With such a lead, Damian should be able to guess her meaning.
"My mom asked me to come to the garden to pick a potted plant for my grandpa."
"Your mom asked you to come?" Ashley was skeptical.
"Yes, she called me a few days ago and emphasized it several times."
Ashley pouted, "Just to pick a plant, Mr. Hearst, don't you think you're a bit overdressed? You look more like you're going on a date."
Damian smiled under the blanket, "You think I'm overdressed today?"
Ashley realized she had misspoken. Saying he was well-dressed implied she had seriously observed him, which meant she cared, right?
She didn't care at all!
"Just a casual remark, don't take it seriously. Mr. Hearst, you're always so well-dressed. Anyone who doesn't know would think you're a model."
Damian still didn't lift the blanket, cooperating fully, "What about those who do know?"
Like you.
Ashley couldn't peel the sunflower seed in her hand, so she threw it away and changed the topic, "What kind of plant did your mom ask you to pick? It wouldn't happen to be called a 'prosperity flower,' would it?"
Nice words, picking a plant, yes, a beautiful flower indeed.
Damian seemed to understand. Was Ashley angry because she saw him with Jessica?
Was this jealousy?
Damian lifted the blanket, got up, put on his shoes, and soon stood in front of Ashley, his height giving him a natural advantage, "Why didn't you say hi when you saw me?"
Ashley's pretty eyebrows furrowed, "What?"
"I said, since you saw me, why didn't you say hi before leaving?" Damian repeated patiently.
Ashley's mind turned, understanding. He was indeed smart, guessing her meaning from just a few words. Fine, she wouldn't continue guessing, "Mr. Hearst and a beautiful woman being affectionate, I wasn't going to ruin the mood. Seeing Mr. Hearst enjoying himself so much, of course, I had to be considerate!"
Damian bent down, lifting her chin with his fingers, looking at her face, now more colorful from the ointment, "That person is Jessica."
Really? So the beautiful doctor's name was Jessica. "Thanks for letting me know, Mr. Hearst. I'll make sure to avoid her in the future, not to cause any misunderstandings or trouble for Mr. Hearst."
Damian was exasperated by Ashley's sharp tongue, rubbing his forehead, "She's my psychologist. For a long time, she's been helping me with hypnosis to alleviate my insomnia."
Is that so?
Ashley thought, who are you fooling?
A doctor?
A doctor who would flirt with you in your office suite in broad daylight?
"Mr. Hearst, do you take me for a three-year-old? The first time I saw Jessica in your office, you two were..." He held Ashley's chin, her gaze couldn't shift, so she rolled her eyes in disdain.
Damian also remembered that incident. At the time, he had deliberately done something to make her misunderstand, being a bit ambiguous with Jessica. He didn't expect her to still hold a grudge after so long.
Damian loved Ashley's stubborn little expression when she was jealous. Clearly, she cared a lot but pretended not to, even lifting the corners of her mouth nonchalantly.
Not wanting to push her too far, Damian explained, "Nothing happened between us. She was doing her job as a doctor, and I was receiving treatment. Don't imagine things that don't exist."
Ashley pried at his wrist, not wanting his hand to touch her face, "I don't care what your relationship is! Mr. Hearst, if you don't want to get a heat rash under the blanket, please leave. The rain has stopped, and someone will come by soon. I don't want any more misunderstandings."
Damian, without giving her a chance to refuse, put a hat on her head, "I promised to take you out. Come with me."
Damian forcibly dragged Ashley out of the room. Unable to break free, she reluctantly walked into the garden after the rain.
Damian lifted her head, "Luckily, there's still a bit left. If we waited any longer, it would be gone."
Ashley's eyes lit up!
"A rainbow!"
In the clean, clear sky after the rain, a rainbow arched from south to north over the garden, its seven colors blending, as if connecting all the beauty in the world.
Damian circled her waist from behind, resting his chin on her head, "Yes, a rainbow. It's rare to see one in the city. I haven't seen a rainbow in a long time."
With such a beautiful scene, Ashley didn't want to be controlled by her emotions, "It's so rare. Mr. Hearst, aren't you going to make a wish or something?"
Damian said, "You make one."
Ashley was teasing him; she wasn't that naive, "I don't believe a rainbow can make wishes come true."
"A rainbow can't, but maybe I can."
