Chapter 476 Handsome Man and Beautiful Woman Embracing Among the Flowers
"Ms. Astor?"
"How are you?"
Ashley groggily woke up, trying to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt heavy and painful. She barely managed to open a slit, and her whole face hurt intensely. "What happened?"
Seeing her awake, Cheryl finally sat down heavily. "You finally woke up. That was so scary! Ms. Lee slipped and fell, and you were right below her, so you got caught up in it. Plus, Ms. Lee's shoes have anti-slip spikes, and they hit your face."
Emma sat nearby, extremely anxious, apologizing and feeling guilty. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Ms. Astor. It's all my fault! I should have held on tighter. I'm really sorry."
As the department head, Dante had to take responsibility. What worried him more was that Ashley was Mr. Hearst's ex-wife. If Mr. Hearst found out, no matter whose fault it was, the entire legal department would take the blame.
"Ms. Astor, how are you feeling? Do you have any dizziness or headaches? The doctor just checked you; you have some external injuries. Is there anywhere else that hurts?"
Ashley lay in the emergency room, with an IV in her hand, but her head was foggy, and she couldn't tell if anything else was wrong. "I'm okay."
Dante visibly sighed in relief. "That's good. Rock climbing is inherently a high-risk activity. I had them end it early. It's good that you young people like adventure, but this incident is really unpleasant, especially for you."
Ashley still didn't know her condition. Seeing their increasingly worried expressions, she guessed it wasn't good. Dante seemed to be implying that the activity itself was risky and accidents were inevitable; she was just unlucky.
She knew exactly what Dante was afraid of.
"Mr. Moretti, don't worry. I'm fine. You guys go ahead and have fun. I'll go back after the IV."
For the sake of appearances, Dante Moretti certainly wouldn't leave. He just had the others disperse to avoid crowding the hospital.
Cheryl volunteered to stay. "I'll stay with Ms. Astor. It's inconvenient for the men to be here."
Emma also wanted to stay. "I'll stay too. After all, it's my fault."
Ashley's head was in a daze, and she didn't want to hear them arguing. "Just let Cheryl stay with me."
Emma reluctantly agreed. "Then contact me if you need anything. Cheryl has my phone number. You rest well."
The room quieted down as people left.
Cheryl closed the door, gritting her teeth. "Ms. Lee definitely had bad intentions! You just argued in the car, and now she hurt you like this. How can there be so many coincidences?"
Ashley rubbed her temples with her fingers. "I have my suspicions."
"You also think Emma did it on purpose?"
"We can't make accusations without evidence."
Cheryl gritted her teeth. "But your face is so swollen, and your eyes are puffy too."
She didn't dare to say that it looked like Ashley's face was disfigured.
"It will go down."
When Ashley looked in the mirror after the IV, she realized she had been too optimistic.
Emma's shoe spikes were powerful. Her face was covered in bruises, with deep red marks in several places, and a cut on her forehead covered in thick iodine.
Her face was more colorful than a palette.
Great, now she didn't want to see anyone.
"Ms. Astor, don't worry. The doctor said these are just minor injuries. You'll be fine in a week at most."
"A week?"
Does that mean she can't see anyone for a week?
Back at the hotel, Ashley declined the remaining activities, adjusted her mindset alone, and recalled the details of the incident.
Dante and Kevin took turns visiting her, and Emma brought fruit and apologized sincerely.
Finally, it was quiet, and the clock pointed to 3 PM.
Ashley got tired of staying in the hotel, put on a wide-brimmed hat and a mask, and went out for a walk alone.
They went to the racetrack, so the flower garden should be empty now.
Damian drove to Nine Creeks Garden and glanced at the KM Group bus as he passed by.
Of course, he wouldn't contact Ashley by phone today because they would meet soon.
The phone rang.
Damian answered, "Mom."
"Did you go to Nine Creeks Garden?"
"Yes."
Nicol was clearly pleased. "I thought you weren't going. Since you're there, go check out the flower garden. Your grandfather's orchids should be blooming."
"Okay."
The car stopped outside the flower garden, and Damian leisurely walked into the rose garden. Soon, he saw a slender figure.
A tall figure in a white long dress, taking photos of a patch of red roses, carefully adjusting the angle.
"Jessica?"
Jessica put down her phone, and when she turned around, her body trembled, and her eyes involuntarily fixed on Damian.
Today, he looked very different.
Although he wasn't in a sharp suit, it was clear he had dressed up. His impeccable fashion sense and top-tier looks made him stand out among the flowers, like a king visiting his garden, unattainable and noble!
Damian, she finally, finally saw him again!
Her heart was racing, but her face remained calm and graceful. Jessica adjusted the bag on her shoulder and smiled, "Mr. Hearst."
Damian, recalling how Nicol had strongly urged him to come to the flower garden and now seeing Jessica, easily guessed the reason. "Did my mom ask you to come?"
Jessica took a few steps forward, her clear makeup looking gentle and lovely, her smile blooming among the red roses. "It was my aunt who called. She said she arranged a blind date for me. I just never expected it to be with Mr. Hearst. My uncle often praises Hayden in person, so my first thought was Hayden. If I had known it would be Mr. Hearst, I wouldn't have dared to come."
Jessica's uncle, Dr. Tyrell Baldwin from Evergreen Valley Hospital & Wellness Center.
Damian didn't have much interaction with him, but Hayden often mentioned him positively.
"Since you're here, just treat it as a relaxing outing. As for your aunt, tell her the truth."
Jessica heard from her aunt that recently Nicol had been eager to find a match for her son, asking around for suitable girls, but many were abroad, so she recommended Jessica.
In terms of status, she and Damian were not equal, but Nicol was probably too anxious and agreed to the meeting.
When Jessica heard the news, she was almost ecstatic.
She never dreamed that she could have a blind date with Damian in this lifetime!
She had been looking forward to it for days, picking out clothes, learning gentle makeup, going to the spa every day, and actively working out to lose weight, all to make a good impression on him.
But later, her aunt said Damian probably wouldn't show up.
At that moment, she was desperate, but holding onto a glimmer of hope, she still came.
From 9 AM, she waited until now. Luckily, she didn't give up!
Luckily, Damian came!
But why was he still so cold?
Did those hypnosis sessions not work?
"How about you just treat it as a formality? I'll tell your mom that we met. But since you're here, do you want to walk around together? This place is big, and I'd definitely get lost on my own."
Since she put it that way, Damian probably wouldn't refuse.
Damian checked the time; it was still early. "Okay."
Jessica beamed, "These flowers are beautiful. Which kind do you like, Mr. Hearst?"
Damian replied, "Cactus."
Jessica smiled, "Cacti are nice too. They have strong vitality and can grow in any environment. If well taken care of, they can also bloom and bear fruit. The fruit of the cactus is quite tasty."
The path among the flowers was narrow, and walking side by side, they almost touched each other. Damian deliberately lagged a bit behind. "Never tried it, so I don't know."
"These Corolla roses are really beautiful," Jessica bent down to touch the intricate petals. "Ouch!"
Jessica's finger just touched the stem and was pricked by a sharp thorn, causing her to quickly turn around in pain.
"Careful!"
As she turned, she fell into Damian's arms, her whole body colliding with his chest. Damian, caught off guard, could only extend his arms to protect her.
In the confined space, the strong scent of roses filled the air.
Jessica looked up in shock, her eyes wide, staring at his eyes, feeling like she was melting.
Damian's arm was around her waist, his other hand holding her wrist, looking down at the blood on her finger.
With the flowers as a backdrop, a handsome man and a beautiful woman in close contact.
Ashley walked into the flower garden and saw Damian and Jessica tightly embracing.
