Chapter 351 Dressed So Beautifully, Going on a Date?
Ashley suddenly realized, "Wait a minute, what are you thinking?"
Harold's look of regret clearly showed he had misunderstood her.
"You don't need to explain."
Harold didn't want to hear a word. He was filled with hostility towards the name Damian. Even if nothing happened as he imagined, just the fact that Ashley had been with him late at night and spent the night together made him extremely angry.
Ashley looked a bit defeated, "It's complicated, I can't explain it in a few words."
How was she supposed to explain that her brother was arriving in Rochester City tonight? How could she say that Damian had paved the way for Dorian to return home smoothly?
Harold snorted, "Spending the night together, how could it not be complicated?"
Ashley opened her mouth but found that she, usually so eloquent, couldn't find the right words, "I have to get back to work."
Her lack of explanation made Harold even angrier.
He was so angry that he even thought, Ashley being with Hendrix would be better than being entangled with Damian.
Hendrix might be messy in relationships, but at least he wouldn't scheme against his own woman. Damian, on the other hand, was unfathomable. Working with him meant being exploited, and it was nearly impossible to turn the tables on him.
Just thinking about the intimidating aura Damian exuded made Harold break out in a cold sweat. If he, a grown man, could barely handle it, how could Ashley?
His thoughts shifted, and he couldn't help but feel sympathetic, "Pay more attention to the Infinity Enterprises Group case, and also..." He hesitated but emphasized, "You know who the boss behind Quantum Innovations Tech is, be careful and don't get carried away."
Ashley nodded seriously, "I know, Mr. Long and I both take this case very seriously. Don't you trust my work?"
"Communicate more with Hendrix, ask questions if you don't understand. He's an expert in these kinds of cases and has a lot of ideas."
It wasn't that he didn't trust her; he didn't trust the cunning Damian. Why did he have to seek her out at this particular time? Clearly, he had ulterior motives!
"I'll call Mr. Long later and follow his instructions without arguing."
Seeing her like this, Harold sighed inwardly but said, "I'll visit him after work today, you come with me."
"Not today, I have something to do."
Dorian's flight was in the evening, and she needed to prepare at the hotel to surprise him. She hadn't seen him in a long time and wondered if he had lost weight from being busy with the restaurant.
Since the company incident, her parents, Dorian, and Blair had all lost weight. During the initial period, Dorian was so busy that he didn't even have time to shave, looking several years older.
Harold frowned again, "Don't tell me it's because of him again."
Ashley pursed her lips.
Harold waved his hand in frustration, "Go, go, go."
Ashley got busy again, almost the entire day. At lunch with Hannah, all she heard was about her idol.
"My idol was a top student from elementary school to college, always on a full scholarship during university, super amazing! Even though his family is wealthy, he relies on himself, completely changing my impression of rich kids."
"It's all because of those messy online comments that I almost misunderstood my idol's character! Actually, he's very low-key and reserved, and super gentlemanly. Have you ever had a meal with him? Oh my god, his table manners are impeccable."
"My idol also shared many classic cases with me, even more vivid than what I learned in class."
"My idol."
Ashley finally couldn't take it anymore and tapped her fork on the plate, "Are you going to eat or not? Should I get you a picture of him to hang in the office so you can stare at it when you're hungry?"
Hannah smiled while eating, "Can I really?"
Ashley wanted to poke her head with the fork, "Are you stupid?"
At five in the afternoon, Ashley's phone rang, making her heart skip a beat. She grabbed her phone, "Hello?"
"Wait for me after work."
It was Damian's deep voice.
Ashley couldn't imagine what Harold would do if he saw her getting into Damian's car, "No need, I'll drive myself."
"Are you sure you want to drive a scratched-up car to see your brother?"
Of course, Ashley didn't want that. She wanted to meet Dorian in style, to show him she was doing well here so the family wouldn't worry, "Alright, wait for me at the Starbucks at the corner."
Damian knew she was trying to avoid suspicion, "Okay."
It was rare for him not to retort, and Ashley felt a bit unaccustomed.
Turning her head, the lawsuit documents from Quantum Innovations Tech on her computer screen were glaring.
She couldn't quite describe her feelings, very conflicted. Soon, she would be representing Infinity Enterprises Group in court, facing off against Quantum Innovations Tech's lawyers. What would that be like?
Before she could come to a conclusion, her phone rang again.
Hendrix immediately questioned, "Where are the product testing and market research reports for Quantum Innovations Tech from the past three years? Why haven't I received them?"
"Didn't I send them?"
Ashley remembered packaging the information and sending it to Hendrix, but upon checking her email, she realized she had only CC'd Harold and missed Hendrix's ID. Her mind had been preoccupied with Dorian, leading to this rookie mistake.
"Right away."
Hendrix asked, "Have you met with my aunt?"
Ashley was frustrated, "Didn't you say to arrange a time for everyone to meet together? How could I bypass my superior and meet her privately?"
Besides, she was just an assistant, not the lead. Shouldn't she get approval for these things?
Who knows what expression Hendrix had on the other end, but his tone was a bit strange, "Then let's do it tomorrow."
Dorian should still be in Rochester City tomorrow, and Ashley didn't want to miss their reunion, "Can we do it the day after tomorrow? I have something important tomorrow."
"What could be more important than this case? I'm curious."
"It's not a fair comparison, but it's very important to me. How about this, the day after tomorrow, any place you choose, I'll be there."
This answer finally satisfied Hendrix, "Alright, wait for my call."
Five minutes past quitting time, those not busy with work started to leave. Ashley quickly put on some makeup, refreshing her nearly dried-out lipstick with a bright, glossy shade that instantly improved her complexion.
With good news in her heart, her face glowed, and she felt energized.
"Ms. Astor, you look so beautiful today!" the receptionist complimented.
Ashley was wearing an elegant and intellectual outfit provided by Damian. She was used to wearing such clothes and didn't think much of it, but with light makeup and a good mood, it added a lot to her appearance.
Ashley brushed her long hair behind her ear and smiled, as radiant as a blooming red rose, "When am I not beautiful?"
The receptionist blinked, wow, Ashley was really different today, even joking with her!
Lynn walked over gracefully and smiled, "Ms. Astor, are you going on a date? You look so beautiful."
Riley chimed in, "We see you receiving flowers all the time, but we don't know who the mysterious sender is. Is he coming to pick you up? Let us see him."
