Chapter 344 How Can There Be Someone Like You?
"Come back! Where are you going?" Ashley couldn't stop the huffing Hannah, watching her swing the club and join the fray.
Standing proudly on Sean's side, she shouted, "Hey! Mr. Moretti, Mr. Ross and I have been playing for a long time, using up a lot of energy. You just got here, of course; you're full of energy. It's not fair. If you have the guts, play against me! If you can beat me, then go play Mr. Ross."
Hayden had never been challenged by a woman before, especially...
A young girl.
Her delicate face, with puffed-up cheeks, was flushed and bright. Her long hair was tied in a bun, which wobbled as she moved, probably pulled during the game. She was slender.
Her face was full of collagen, but other than that... she wasn't worth a second glance.
"What's your name? Do you know Ms. Astor?" Hayden said.
Hannah sniffed, "I'm Ashley's assistant. Just say if you dare to play against me!"
She had rested for a while and should be able to last for fifteen minutes, at least giving Sean some breathing time. If Sean lost, this doctor would definitely be smug, and that would be a loss for Sean!
Hayden snorted, "I don't play against women."
Sean laughed, "You can't beat him. The physical difference between men and women is too great. Just watch from the side."
Hannah ground her little white teeth, raising her head high in defiance, "You're just afraid to play against me, aren't you? If you lose to Mr. Ross, you can find an excuse. If you lose to me, you won't have any excuse. How embarrassing!"
Damn it!
Where did this woman come from, daring to challenge him?
Hayden touched his nose, "What if you lose?"
Hannah knew her skills, she would definitely lose, "What am I supposed to do? Eat the ball?"
Hayden tossed the small green ball, smirking sinisterly, "Eat? I'm afraid your teeth can't handle it. How about this: if you lose, you shout three times on the court, 'I admire Mr. Moretti.'"
Shameless!
Hannah held back, gritting her teeth, "What if you lose?"
Hayden let go of the small ball, tossing it high into the air and catching it again, holding it firmly, "If I lose, I'll eat the ball."
"Deal!" Hannah said.
At worst, she would just shout. She wasn't afraid.
Ashley held her forehead. This silly girl, wasn't she just asking to be bullied?
Sean stepped aside with a smile, "Your assistant is brave. Is she buying time for me?"
Ashley rubbed her temples back and forth, "She doesn't know her limits. She's no match for Hayden, and she'll definitely lose."
Sean said, "I find it quite interesting. Only someone her age would do something like this, innocent and kind-hearted, willing to go all out without considering the consequences."
Hearing this, Ashley also felt that Hannah was indeed like that. Many times, she acted on her instincts without much consideration, which is why Ashley let her be herself without much restraint.
It was rare for people to be their true selves, and this beautiful quality would be protected.
Ashley felt a bit envious, "She's not yet at the age to weigh pros and cons, only full of pure justice. It's wonderful."
"I heard you took on the Infinity Enterprises Group case." Sean twisted open a water bottle and drank the remaining water.
Ashley was a bit shocked.
He took the wrong bottle. It was the one she had drunk from.
Sean's lips were on the bottle's mouth. Seeing her gaze, he asked, "What's wrong?"
Ashley shook her head, better not let him know, or it would be more awkward, "I accepted Linda's commission, to assist Hendrix."
Sean, being from a legal family, had an extensive network, so it wasn't surprising he knew this. Ashley didn't feel the need to hide it.
"Linda is Hendrix's aunt. Understandably, he handles it personally. But your opponent, Quantum Innovations Tech, is actually backed by KM. Do you know that?" Sean said.
"I know, that's a major issue in this case," Ashley said.
Sean spoke earnestly, "Over the years, no matter the case, big or small, no one has ever won against KM, without exception."
Ashley couldn't help but sigh, the dopamine from the exercise gradually fading, "Why? Does KM have a powerful backer?"
Sean didn't spell it out, but his tone was heavy: "Since you took the case, you must have prepared well, both in terms of evidence and mentally. So I won't advise you to give up halfway, but you must consider carefully: Can you bear the worst outcome?"
"What do you mean by the worst?" Ashley said.
Sean started to speak but hesitated.
Maybe he was overthinking. Given Damian's attitude towards Ashley, even if they lost, he probably wouldn't be too harsh.
Ashley saw him lost in thought and called out, "Mr. Ross?"
Sean snapped back, "Lawyers defeated by KM often have a tough time afterward. Some even leave the legal field forever, not daring to take on another case."
"KM's doing?" Ashley said.
"No evidence, hard to say, but you can guess." Before he could finish, Hannah's scream came from the other side, "Damn it! You cheated!"
Hayden showed no remorse, "If you're not as skilled, be humble and don't show off."
Hannah stomped her foot in anger, "No way, let's go again!"
Hayden, eager to end the fight and not wanting to see Ashley and Sean chatting, used a fake move to defeat Hannah quickly.
"A loss is a loss. If you can't handle it, don't boast and challenge me. Now, shout louder," Hayden said.
Hannah gritted her teeth, her little face puffed up in anger, "You... you..."
Hayden swung his racket, playing with it skillfully, "Stuttering? Even if you stutter, it doesn't matter. Shout that 'I admire Mr. Moretti,' and don't miss a word."
In a fit of anger, Hannah threw down her racket, the small ball in her hand bouncing high to the ceiling and then falling back, rolling far away. "You take advantage of me and win without honor! Such lowly tactics; utterly shameless. How can there be someone like you?"
Hayden dug his ear, smirking roguishly, "Miss, why are you saying all that to insult me?"
Hannah pitifully looked to Ashley for help, "Ashley..."
Ashley, afraid she would be upset, tried to smooth things over: "Mr. Moretti, stop teasing her. It's just a friendly match; there's no need for punishment. As a man, you should be more magnanimous."
Hayden, holding back his anger, said stiffly, "She doesn't know how to speak properly. She needs to be taught a lesson, so she won't go around challenging others next time."
Hannah stomped her foot, "Fine, I'll shout! Stop pretending to be a good person, I have parents, it's not your place to educate me!"
With that, she stood in the middle of the tennis court and shouted, "I admire Mr. Moretti! I admire Mr. Moretti! I admire Mr. Moretti!"
After she finished shouting, all the guests looked over. The chatter was incessant.
"Is this woman crazy?"
"Did she get dumped?"
"She seems a bit off."
"Poor thing, so young and heartbroken, driven mad."
Hayden grinned. She was quite obedient, shouting as told, just about to praise her.
Then Hannah shouted even louder, "Mr. Moretti from Evergreen Valley Hospital & Wellness Center's orthopedics department is a big pervert! Everyone, don't go to him for treatment!"
