Chapter 494 Obediently Call Him Daddy
"Get a few lawyers to play with KM, as for Ashley, I have my arrangements."
"What arrangements?"
Chad glanced sideways, reproaching her for asking too much, but he still answered, "Instead of having Ashley confront Damian, what do you think if Damian sees me marrying his ex-wife and his son calling me dad? Wouldn't that be more satisfying?"
Especially the last part, Chad was eagerly anticipating it, almost fanatically!
He couldn't wait to hear Damian's son obediently call him dad.
That moment would definitely be exhilarating and satisfying!
April raised an eyebrow, "Not a bad idea, but Ashley might not like you. We've thoroughly investigated her relationship with Damian. Back then, she pursued Damian actively. After they got married, Damian didn't love her, but she persisted. Even after three years of divorce, she still couldn't bear to hurt Damian. Many people called her a love-struck fool, but she just wildly loved Damian. So, making her betray the Hearst family is almost impossible."
Chad was indifferent, confidently smiling, "April, don't have too many expectations of human nature. People always change."
The next day.
Ashley went to work at the firm as usual, surrounded by strangers with no emotional exchanges, just working together.
Her phone was quiet all day.
The next day, she went to the federal court for a hearing, busy all day, but still no message from Volcano.
Ashley felt uneasy. Had Chad given up so easily?
Finally, the third day arrived. Ashley, with a nervous heart, waited until the end of the workday. Just as she walked out of the office building, her phone rang.
Ashley's scalp tingled when she saw it was a call from Todd. Her tense nerves relaxed a bit. If this continued, she might get a stomach ulcer. "Dad."
"Ashley, are you back? Someone claiming to be your friend is waiting for you at home."
"Who? Is his last name Wilson?"
"Yes, his last name is Wilson."
Ashley's mind buzzed, "Dad, don't talk too much with him. I'll be right there!"
As expected, the man sitting on the pelican chair, holding Happy and playing, was Chad, the one who had threatened her with a gun!
Ashley dropped her bag, took a quick step, and snatched Happy from his hands, carefully protecting him in her arms. "Mr. Wilson, we can discuss work matters at the office. I don't like talking business at home!"
Chad smiled gracefully, "I'm not here to talk about work today. I just wanted to see you."
Ashley frowned and handed Happy to Todd. "Dad, Mom, I'm going for a walk with Mr. Wilson. I'll be back later."
Todd and Scarlett quickly said, "Sure, young people need to communicate more. Don't throw a tantrum."
They looked like they were trying to mediate a quarrel between a couple.
After walking nearly a hundred meters, Ashley, furious, said, "What exactly do you want?"
Ashley had guessed a few possibilities, but she didn't expect Chad to go to her house and target her parents and child.
Damn it!
He was challenging her bottom line.
Chad, with his hands in his pockets, stopped and put away his elegant demeanor, replacing it with a cold smile, "I was just expressing my affection for you, hoping they would agree to me pursuing you. Also, your son is very cute. I wouldn't mind becoming his father."
Ashley hated being threatened. People who relied on their privileges to manipulate others' lives, where did they get the nerve? Where did they get the right?
It was ridiculous.
"Chad, Sylvania is not a lawless place. If you offend my family again, I will do whatever it takes to send you to jail."
Chad raised his hands in a surrender gesture, "Alright, I admit my approach was inappropriate, but I was just following the boss's orders. We're all helpless. I'm sure you understand my difficulties, right?"
Ashley gritted her teeth and turned to leave, "Go back and tell your boss to give up!"
Chad grabbed her arm and explained before she could get angry, "Sorry, I'm also in a difficult position. It's hard for me to explain to the boss."
Ashley glared at him, "That's your problem. Let go."
Chad had no choice but to let go, "I told your parents the truth. If it weren't for the boss forcing me to make you take this case, I wouldn't want to trouble you at all. Can we start over? My name is Chad, I'm thirty-three, and I hold a high position in the group with a good salary."
Ashley scrutinized him warily, "Do you think introducing yourself will change my impression of you? Don't be so self-righteous."
Chad felt a bit defeated, "Come on! I'm being sincere, okay?"
"Get lost. I won't be polite to a man who pointed a gun at me. Also, if you disturb my family again, I'll report you to the police immediately."
For the second time, watching Ashley's graceful back, Chad wiped the corner of his mouth with interest. He increasingly felt that his idea was intriguing.
Damian's ex-wife, he was determined to have her!
A week later, Ashley and her partner Otis Jenkins went on a business trip to Golden City.
A few hours later, they arranged their accommodation and started working.
Otis closed his laptop and smiled with interest, "Found him. He's at the casino."
Ashley asked, "Are we going to catch him inside?"
Otis frowned, creating deep forehead lines, "No choice. The court summons couldn't be delivered, and he refuses to meet the client. We have to do it ourselves."
Ashley felt repelled by casinos.
She had bad luck and even worse luck with gambling. She had never won even a ten-dollar lottery ticket. Could she handle business smoothly in a casino?
Otis picked up his coat and wallet, smiling, "I'm pretty good at it. I'll play a few rounds."
The luxurious casino, gilded and silver-plated, was filled with noisy laughter and shouts as soon as they stepped inside. Everyone was excited and thrilled, the sound of cards shuffling at the tables, and gamblers crowded around various machines.
To fit the casino's style, Ashley had changed into a blue long dress that reached her ankles, her figure graceful.
Otis couldn't help but compliment, "Ashley, you should wear dresses more often. You look beautiful in a dress."
Ashley smiled but didn't comment.
Since coming to Sylvania, she mostly wore pantsuits and business suits, rarely wearing dresses, deliberately keeping men at a distance. She instinctively resisted and rejected men, not wanting to give them any room for imagination.
She held Otis's arm, and they looked around, finally spotting their target at a card table.
Ashley gritted her teeth, "There he is!"
Kevin said, "Let's go. I'll play with him, and you find an opportunity."
"OK."
"Guys!" Otis casually joined them, pushing his chips onto the table with flair.
The middle-aged man, with a cigarette in his mouth and blue eyes showing excitement, said, "Have a seat."
Otis played cards with him while Ashley sat next to the man.
Otis deliberately lost a few rounds, and the man won several times in a row. When he was in high spirits, Ashley took out the court summons, "Mac, I'm a lawyer from MAX Group. MAX is officially suing you for illegal competition and profiteering."
Mac had been avoiding court by constantly changing his residence, making it impossible for the court to find him, delaying the trial.
This time, Ashley personally handed him the summons. If he didn't appear in court, the police would take strong measures!
"Damn it!"
Mac cursed and waved his hand, "Get rid of them!"
Ashley turned around and saw five or six burly men approaching menacingly. Damn it, he had bodyguards?
"Otis, run!"
Ashley grabbed her bag and ran, but wearing high heels, she was no match for these men. She ran desperately, but they quickly caught up and grabbed her shoulder!
A sharp pain shot through her, and Ashley swung her bag in self-defense, but the man lifted her and threw her to the ground. She was dragged to an empty corridor, her back hitting the wall hard. The man raised his arm, ready to smash her nose!
Ashley widened her eyes and shouted, "Help!"
Damn it, shouting for help here was useless!
Just when she thought her nose was about to break, a black figure suddenly appeared, flying in with a kick that sent the bodyguard three meters away!
