Chapter 418 "The one in the red dress, you answer."
Front row VIP seats.
Evelina from the Hearst family sat side by side with her "relative."
It was an open secret that members of the Hearst family enjoyed special privileges at Law and Politics University.
The university wanted to hold a special welcoming ceremony for the Hearst family, but Evelina declined, only requesting two reserved seats and emphasizing that Damian disliked noise and would not tolerate any disturbances.
Otherwise, there would be consequences!
So, although everyone was curious about the man next to Evelina, no one dared to ask, not even daring to look.
Evelina casually remarked, "Sean is really handsome, his demeanor is spot on. As a descendant of a soldier, his walking posture just now, to be honest, was quite impressive."
Damian's indifferent gaze turned to her, the light illuminating him, especially his eyes, which shone like stars in the night. "Really?"
Evelina's heart skipped a beat, "Of course... but compared to you, he's still far behind!"
This wasn't flattery; Damian was genuinely handsome, with a cold and arrogant demeanor that was intimidating.
In the face of absolute dominance, so-called elegance and scholarly charm paled in comparison.
Damian sat there gracefully, even in the noisy crowd and less-than-fresh air, he had the ability to remain aloof, as if that space was isolated and untouchable.
After the opening remarks, Sean began his formal speech.
The large screen behind him displayed a meticulously crafted PowerPoint presentation.
The text layout had a strong business style, instantly drawing everyone into the case.
Ashley was fully focused, constantly thinking along with Sean's topics, her pen never stopping.
Her recorder was on, and she was jotting down key sentences in her notebook.
Her serious attitude towards learning was in stark contrast to the girls around her who were screaming wildly.
Hannah had come with the intention of studying, but once there, she only wanted to scream and cheer for her idol, with no mind for taking notes.
Seeing Ashley's serious attitude, she smiled wryly, "Ashley... I recorded it, I'll listen to it carefully later, but Sean's face, every glance is worth it."
If she looked down to write, how many classic moments would she miss?
Ashley, influenced by the atmosphere, didn't think Hannah was being unreasonable at all; in fact, she liked her honesty. "Go ahead, if you don't watch carefully, someone else will."
Hannah excitedly hugged and kissed her.
On stage, Sean began presenting a case, "Self-defense has always been a controversial topic. Let me give a few examples for everyone to consider whether they fall under self-defense."
Hannah finally stopped screaming.
"For instance, A harbors a grudge against B, so he buys a large dog and shows B's personal belongings to the dog every day, intending to harm B in the future. B finds out and buys poison to kill the dog. Does this count as self-defense?"
Hannah and others shouted, "No! That's illegal, malicious destruction of property!"
The crowd's response was unanimous, and Sean continued, "In the 1980s, there was a famous case where a woman encountered a thug on a mountain. The thug tried to assault her, and realizing she couldn't get help and couldn't resist, she temporarily chose to comply. She told the thug that the environment there was bad and suggested they go to a better place. The thug, seeing she had no tricks up her sleeve, cooperated and went to a flat area. While the thug was undressing, the woman pushed him into a nearby pool with all her strength. The man struggled to climb out, and the woman stomped on his hand, causing him to fall back in. This happened three times until the man drowned. Now, students, was what the woman did still self-defense?"
Unlike the previous unanimous answer, this time there was some disagreement.
Some said it was self-defense, others said it was excessive defense.
Hannah pondered and asked, "Ashley, what do you think?"
Ashley smiled, "We'll find out soon, won't we? Don't you want to hear your idol's answer?"
Meanwhile, Evelina, unafraid, asked the expressionless Damian, "Damian, what do you think?"
Damian glanced at her, "Who's studying law, you or me?"
Evelina stuck out her tongue, "Just discussing. If it were me, I'd shoot him on the spot! Why wait?"
Damian frowned.
He didn't think the woman's actions in the case were excessive, but Evelina's harsh words displeased him.
On stage, Sean said, "How about this, I'll ask a student to answer."
The audience went wild, with people raising their hands so frantically it seemed they might tear the roof off the hall, shouting, "Pick me! Pick me!"
Hannah was even more exaggerated, standing on her chair, waving a glow stick, and screaming with all her might.
She was trying so hard; Sean should notice her, right?
Even if he didn't see her, he should recognize the goddess next to her, right?
Ashley wished she could crawl under her seat. She'd never attend another Sean lecture with Hannah again.
"The girl in the red dress at the back, yes... the one standing on the chair, you answer."
Hannah's eyes sparkled.
Red dress, on a chair, that was her, right?
Was she really chosen?
The host made his way through the crowd, amidst envious and jealous glances, and handed the microphone to Hannah, "Student, please answer Mr. Ross's question."
Hannah's goal was to attract Sean's attention and create an opportunity for him and Ashley. Her little plan succeeded, and she felt proud.
She quickly handed the microphone to Ashley, clasping her hands in a pleading gesture, "Ashley, I can't answer, help!"
Ashley rolled her eyes, wanting to punch her, "If you can't answer, why stand so high?"
"I... got too excited, Ashley, help."
With thousands waiting, amidst cheers and sighs, under the pressure, Ashley reluctantly stood up at Hannah's desperate signal.
Ashley had come straight from the law firm, still wearing her work attire, a chiffon dress with a modest neckline, light makeup, and slightly curled long hair. Her demeanor was naturally different from the students around her. As soon as she stood up, there was a wave of cheers.
"So beautiful!"
"Is she from our school?"
"Definitely not, if she were, she'd be famous by now!"
"She doesn't look that old, maybe an undergrad?"
"Definitely not an undergrad, she looks so professional and capable! At least a PhD student."
Hannah thought, of course, Ashley is beautiful! If she weren't, how could she compete with you all and be with Sean?
Ashley took a silent breath, her clear voice resonating through the hall's sound system, "Mr. Ross, hello, it's an honor to answer your question..."
