Chapter 382 Even a Pig's Acting is Better Than Yours

Over here, Ashley said she was also a victim, maintaining her composure and dignity, in stark contrast to Jessa's frantic demeanor.

Garry had been a director for over a decade, working with countless actresses, from top-tier stars to unknown newcomers, yet none could match this woman's presence.

That kind of calm elegance, even if actresses were polished in film school for four years, might still be unattainable.

He would definitely find a way to get her into his new film.

Garry knew Jessa's temper well; she wouldn't stop until she got what she wanted. So, he took the initiative to mediate, "Jessa, maybe this is just a misunderstanding. Why let such a small matter affect your mood? How about giving me some face and letting it go?"

Jessa shot him a sideways glance, almost ready to throw a fit, "Director Glenn, this isn't our first collaboration. Some things need to follow the rules. Otherwise, if someone dares to give me laxatives today, they might poison me tomorrow. You wouldn't want a lawsuit on set, would you?"

Garry was breaking out in a cold sweat; he couldn't afford to offend Jessa. "Isn't that a bit too serious? How about..."

Jessa, with a stern face and arms crossed, looked like the queen consort from the drama, "Director Glenn, I'm saying this now: if we don't find the culprit, I won't shoot this film!"

Now Garry was really anxious.

If Jessa quit, most of the investment in the film would be lost, and the whole project would be scrapped.

"No, no, no, you take a break, I'll handle it."

Amelia had tolerated Jessa's temper for a long time. It was one thing before, but today her good friend was bullied in front of her, and she couldn't stand it anymore. Rolling up her sleeves, she was ready to fight, "Director, I know you're in a tough spot, but my friend came all the way from Rochester City to see me, and she got bullied before we even had a chance to talk. That's not right. If we're going to investigate, let's do it thoroughly, so some people don't take advantage of the situation!"

Garry scolded in a low voice, "You should say less too."

Even if Amelia were right, Garry wouldn't take it to heart.

The assistant thoroughly searched Ashley's bag, carefully inspecting everything that fell to the ground. After checking, they carelessly trampled on her compact, lipstick, car keys, voice recorder, notebook, and other personal items, grinding them into the dust.

Amelia was seething with anger. Damn it, if it meant not shooting this film, so be it. If it meant leaving the film industry, so be it. This grudge had to be settled!

Ashley saw that Amelia was about to lose her temper and pulled her aside, whispering, "Don't rush, stay calm."

Garry said, "Jessa, can we rule out suspicion now?"

Jessa's stomach growled again, and she clutched her abdomen, running to the bathroom in embarrassment.

There was another round of suppressed laughter behind her.

Garry could hardly bear to watch.

Amelia bent down to help Ashley pick up her things, but Ashley stopped her, "Don't mess up your outfit. Stand gracefully; you should at least maintain the poise of a female artist."

Amelia, still fuming, was suddenly amused, "You're the best."

In the car, Damian saw Ashley's items being trampled, and a thick layer of frost seemed to form from his head to his shoes.

The driver shrank behind the steering wheel, breathing lightly.

With Jessa gone, Garry took the initiative to talk to Ashley, "Here's my business card. If you're interested in acting, feel free to contact me anytime."

With so many people on set, all of whom were as cunning as foxes, seeing Garry personally invite her twice, they all started eyeing Ashley.

Some were jealous, some envious, and some lustful.

Even the male lead of the film, seeing Ashley, felt a spark.

There were too many women trying to act cute, but truly cool and aloof ones were rare.

Meeting one, even if he couldn't have her, he had to take a few more glances.

Ashley politely accepted the card, smiling slightly, "I've seen Director Glenn's films. They have a strong personal style and a sense of the times. But I have no interest in the entertainment industry and can't act. Amelia has loved performing since she was a child and has studied your works repeatedly as a model."

Garry was dazzled by her smile, feeling even more dizzy, and laughed awkwardly to cover his embarrassment, "Amelia is a good actress, with great acting skills."

Amelia nodded, "Thank you for the compliment, Director."

Ashley frowned at the items on the ground. She wouldn't pick them up herself!

"Is the inspection done?"

The assistant glared and spat out two words, "It's done."

"Then pick them up and clean them," Ashley said each word clearly.

"You..."

Ashley was firm, "I'll give you three minutes. If you don't clean it up, we'll find another way to solve this."

The assistant gritted her teeth. With Jessa not around, she didn't dare to talk back and had to reluctantly bend down to pick up the items one by one.

Amelia laughed silently, shaking with mirth, almost cursing the assistant for being a lackey.

Not far away, a sharp scream suddenly rang out.

Everyone who had been gossiping about Ashley turned to look at the source of the sound.

It was Jessa.

Garry didn't dare delay and hurried over, followed by the assistant director, producer, and cameraman.

"What... what happened?"

Jessa was crying uncontrollably, cursing between sobs, "Who's doing this to me! Who!"

After using the bathroom and looking in the mirror, she suddenly found her face covered in red bumps, densely packed like a toad's skin. Her face was swollen to twice its size, like a pufferfish.

Her eyes were so swollen that they could barely open, leaving only thin slits.

Jessa tried to cover her face with her hands, but even a slight touch made her scream in pain.

The staff, seeing her like that, were either scared, shocked, or secretly pleased.

The scene was lively.

Amelia nudged Ashley's elbow, "What did you do?"

With everyone gone to watch the commotion, it was just the two of them left, so they didn't need to be discreet. Ashley smiled, "She slapped you, so of course, I had to slap back for you. It won't disfigure her, but it won't heal in ten days to half a month, and if she's not careful, it might leave scars."

Amelia couldn't help but laugh, "Haha, you're amazing!"

Ashley flipped her hair, "Of course."

With Jessa suddenly having diarrhea and an allergic reaction, the filming couldn't continue, and Garry was scratching his head in frustration.

Someone called him, and Garry spoke with a hunched back, "Yes, my fault, I was negligent. Don't be angry. Yes, yes, I'll give her a break. Green screen? This... okay, no problem."

Hanging up, Garry's forehead was covered in a fine layer of sweat. He smiled bitterly and pulled the assistant director aside, "Well, the sponsor is angry. Either we use green screen technology for her scenes, or they pull the funding."

The assistant director, with a hot temper, cursed on the spot, "Fuck, this is just..."

Garry patted his shoulder and smiled, "How long have you been in this industry and still don't get it?"

"This industry is getting more and more meaningless."

"It's getting more interesting. Even a pig could act."

"A pig's acting is better than some people's."

Ashley and Amelia, overhearing this conversation, exchanged a smile, unable to hold back their laughter.
