Chapter 105

Seoul, Korea
Snowdrop Suite

Kita and Rain were sitting on the couch watching a movie while they shared some Japanese cheesecake; they both appeared fine. Kita’s hair was wet from the quick shower he took and was wearing workout clothes even though Lula knew he wasn’t heading to the gym. Rain was dressed much the same, her legs pulled up under her, eyes fixed on the television and the black and white film playing.

Rain was leaning into Kita on the couch and he wasn’t shying or pushing her away from him.

That wasn’t right and there was a completely normal level of intimacy about it that was wrong on so many levels.

“You’re right,” Will whispered. “Your brother has completely lost his mind. He’s showered and wearing clean clothes, eating dessert in the middle of the afternoon, and watching old kung fu flicks with a cute girl curled up next to him. Totally lost his mind.”

Lula glared at him, getting a smile in return.

“Let me guess,” Kita called out, not bothering to regard them. “Lucien ratted me out?”

Lucien chuckled from the kitchen where he was making some coffee; he had done just that when he finally got the gist of what happened from Rain while Kita took a shower.

Lula nodded. “You should have told me, but Luci is good enough I suppose. What in the hell happened?” she asked, and Will closed the door behind them.

Rain smiled. “Can I tell her?!” she beamed.

Kita dismissively waved for her to do what she was bouncing with excitement to do.

Rain spun around on the couch to face them. “There I was, standing at the bar downstairs waiting for some dessert spoons for our to-go order,” she said, overly animated. “Then, out of nowhere, this huge, hulking giant of a man appears! He seriously appeared out of thin air!” she informed them with wide eyes. “He rambled something in Russian I couldn’t understand… I don’t speak Russian-”

“‘You looked taller in the picture’,” Kita said, looking over his shoulder to Lula and Will. “That’s what he said.”

Lula nodded her understanding; that was a security threat and her brother had every right to take care of it.

“Then, like Yumiko Kōda-”

“Did you just compare me to a woman?” Kita mumbled with his mouth full of cheesecake, giving her a look.

Rain smiled wide, causing him to chuckle.

“Yumiko Kōda?” Will asked.

“Heroes of the East,” Kita and Rain said in unison before they both blushed.

Will shook his head; they were nauseatingly endearing when together. “Of course,” he said.

“As I was saying, my bodyguard appeared behind him, eclipsed by this hulking giant that smirked, turning to face him then got a palm to the face, sending him staggering back,” Rain continued, reenacting the altercation the best she could without assaulting anyone in the vicinity. “And after a combination of kicks and hits that would have dropped the most proficient normal sized person, Kita jumped up then wrapped himself around the man, knocking them to the ground. The man thrashed and fought, clawed and pulled his hair-”

“So Seon Rain took it upon herself to get in the middle of it,” Kita interrupted, wagging his spoon at her in a scolding manner. “Apparently Seon Rain had to defend her bodyguard at all costs, even at the cost of a sixty-one million won bottle of vodka.”

“Wait, what?” Will asked with a chuckle.

Rain made a mocking face before taking the bite her was offering her.

“Seon Rain took a bottle of vodka from the bar, the first bottle she grabbed just happened to been very high end vodka, then she proceeded to smash it into the man’s face, breaking his nose, rendering him unconscious, and sending another of my suits to the cleaners.”

Rain giggled, causing Kita to smile.

Lucien laughed from the kitchen. “At least it was high end vodka and not disgusting sour potato water like you find on the backstreets of Moscow,” he offered with a chuckle.

“True,” Kita admitted. “But I don’t like vodka regardless of its cost.”

“Next time I’ll make sure it’s something French and snobby to match the man it is protecting,” Rain smugly informed him before turning back around and made herself comfortable at Kita’s side again. “It wasn’t kung fu you were doing, and not anything as eloquent as what Yumiko Kōda did in Heroes of the East, but it was amazing. What was it?” she asked.

That question had been biting at her tongue since the incident, but she didn’t want to put Kita in a bad mood by asking.

“Krav maga,” Lula said, pinching the bridge of her nose before heading to her room to get dressed.

Kita nodded his agreement; it was, in fact, krav maga.

If Kita took out a potential threat on the premises, that meant Lula had to go to the main security office in the basement to get a copy of the report and to sign off on any damages to hotel property that might have been done in the altercation, including an expensive bottle of vodka.

Rain looked from Lula’s retreating form to Will then Kita. “Is she mad at me?”

Will chuckled and flopped down on the other side of her on the couch. “Not at all. She’s more mad at herself for not seeing what was right in front of her this entire time,” he said, taking the spoon from her.

“Huh,” Rain huffed. “Did you two have sex? Is that what you’re talking about? She is nearly naked after all so it isn’t that big of a jump in conclusion.”

Kita shook his head and shoved a bite of cheesecake in his mouth; sometimes the stuff out of Rain’s mouth surprised him with how crass it was. And he really didn’t want to think about his little sister’s sex life.

Will chuckled, helping himself to the cheesecake Kita was trying to keep all to himself. “No. Lula tried to get laid, tried to seduce me even, woke me up with a little crotch massage,” he added the latter to gross Kita out.

“Shut up,” Kita grumbled when Rain laughed because of his discomfort.

“But that isn’t a healthy form of dealing with things you can’t attack and kill,” Will informed the amused woman sitting between them. “I learned that the hard way with Lula Yasuhiro. Instead, I gave her a foot massage and made her talk to me instead of allowing her to attack as she normally does. It was therapeutic for the both of us, just not nearly as physically exerting and shame filled as she was hoping for.”

Rain chuckled; she really enjoyed Will and how he had no filters and wasn’t scared of Kita in the least. “Maturity at its finest, William Lee,” she teased. “Who would have thought?”

“I thought so, Seon Rain,” Will said before shoving another bite of cheesecake in his mouth. “But next time, oh yeah, I’m getting laid!” he beamed, causing Rain to giggle.
