Chapter 172

Valencia, Spain
Metropolitan Cathedral–Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady of Valencia

Throughout the corridors the beautiful hymns from the children’s choir rehearsing filled the air and echoed throughout the 13th century church.

Rain sat in one of the pews and looked up at the gold gilded ceiling with a small smile on her face.

It was so surreal.

The church was beautiful and something she had always wanted to see, but never was given the chance any of the times she had been in Spain for work.

Now, it seemed like a dream and the perfect setting for the end of their vacation where it was just the two of them in the world regardless of how many were accompanying them nearly everywhere they went.

Absently she spun an oversized platinum band around her middle finger; it was a good alternative to a rosary since she didn’t own one.

Kita sat next to her, his attention on the apse and the beautiful artwork adorning it; cobalt blue walls with cherubs and angels depicted in oil paints and framed in gold on them. The artistry was breathtaking and belonged in a museum, but that was to be expected in a 13th century architectural wonder that was under government and church protection.

They would fly out tomorrow night and return to Seoul so Myo Mi-Sun could pick up where her life and shooting schedule left off.

Neither of them was eager for that.

The vacation was exactly what Kita and Rain needed, and they were enjoying it immensely. They had visited multiple countries as a couple, which surprised both of them, and then as a family when they met up with the others on the fourth day when they reached Monaco.

A family vacation was a first for Rain and she absolutely loved it!

The bantering between families and siblings, the questionable mothering from Evie, endearing fathering from Mauri, and the protectiveness of a fiancé from Kita.

It was perfect and what Rain had always wanted.

The only thing missing was her uncle.

Next time, Kita promised her, Chairman Hu would be there with them.

Kita had planned so many adventures for just the two of them, things he specifically tailored to Rain’s likes and personality; cooking with four star chefs, and personal instruction on making traditional breads and desserts with some of the most talented culinary artists in the world.

The two learned how to blow glass, and made custom guinomi for their next sake and sushi date night, just to name a few of the many adventures the two of them went on.

As a group they visited galleries and enjoyed beautiful beaches. They even took out a yacht and sailed between secluded islands, did some scuba diving, cliff diving that Lucien was solely responsible for, and lounged in the sun more than Rain should have.

Yes, the studio would be irritated that their star was coming back to set darker than she was when she left, but it was something she didn’t care about.

Rain didn’t care about anything when it pertained to Myo Mi-Sun and her career anymore. Even though she was still adamant on continuing with her training even when on vacation, she was, for the first time in her life, thinking about herself for once…

Thinking about Seon Rain instead of Myo Mi-Sun.

“Are you sure?” Kita whispered, looking to her hands and the ring she was fiddling with.

Rain nodded. “This place is so beautiful and perfect,” she said. “I should be asking you if you are sure?”

He took her hand in his and brought it to his mouth and tenderly kissed the top of it. “Without question.”

“They are going to be really mad that we didn’t tell or invite them to join us on our adventure through Valencia,” she warned.

Kita shrugged as if it didn’t matter, because it didn’t in his mind and heart.

If the others were with them, they would voice their opinions and disapproval of this rather loudly.

Kita didn’t want or need their permission to be happy.

Just as Seon Rain didn’t need anyone’s permission to be happy.

Neither had been happy or themselves for so long that they didn’t know who they really were anymore…

That is, until they fell into the arms of the other.

Then, everything just started to make sense without even trying.

“Thank you,” Rain said.

Kita’s brows pulled together and he met her eyes. “For what?”

“For being amazing and being you,” she said, as if it were obvious. “This place is beautiful. It reminds me of Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of Romeo + Juliet.”

“I know. It is one of your favorites and why I picked it, just in case,” Kita said.

Rain blushed; that was very romantic. “In school, they used Shakespeare to teach English,” she said, looking at the biblical art adoring the apse. “I didn’t go to school so I never got to learn English how other Korean kids did. Instead, I learned from watching Shakespeare and reading along with the English subtitles. Baz Luhrmann’s version though made it so much better.”

Kita nodded his understanding.

“The colors, the soundtrack, the action and modernization that finally made sense to a little Korean girl that was denied schooling because of her acting schedule,” she whispered the latter.

Kita nodded his understanding; he was already aware of that, but he knew she rambles when nervous.

He was nervous as well for the first time in his life.

“I never imagined I’ve ever be here,” Rain said with a small smile. “I never wanted to be here either though, not until you came into my life. I hated you for that at first; you made me believe in all those things you accused a hopeless delusional romantic of believing. And then you go and plan us a lovely vacation that you tailored specifically for me-”

“For us,” Kita corrected. “I eat what you make, thus it was selfish planning for the future to broaden your culinary skills.”

Rain blushed; the future?

That was what he was offering her.
And it was an offer she didn’t have to think twice about accepting or not.

“Kita Yasuhiro, it is an honor to be here with you and that it was you,” Rain said with a smile, looking from Kita to the front of the apse where a man dressed in black stood.

“Seon Rain, it is an honor you did not turn away from me as I tried so very hard to force you to do,” Kita said with a nod of submission, getting to his feet, offering Rain his hand. “It is an honor to be holding your hand now.”

Rain stood then smoothed her white dress down with her free hand. “Do I look okay?” she asked.

Kita nodded, admiring the way she looked in the white tulle and feather headpiece she wore and how the thin crystal detailed netting hung just above her eyebrows. “You are beyond words, as always, Seon Rain. It is I that disappoints, I fear.”

She eyed him then blushed; he looked handsome as sin in his Egyptian blue slim fit suit, matching vest, white dress shirt, and dark pink silk necktie.

“You are blushing,” he said.

“It’s hard not to when a gorgeous man is standing in front of you, holding your hand,” Rain said, stating the obvious. “Confession will be needed, I’m sure, because it is a sin to look that good.”

Kita smirked. “If I were Catholic I would agree, but since neither of us are, let us enjoy the sins we find ourselves in.”

She giggled, but it was short lived.

The locked doors at the back of the church opened and noon day light poured inside, followed by an annoyed man.
