Chapter 119

Seoul, Korea
NuStarr Talent Management Headquarters

Chairman Hu flipped through the tabloid, looking at the pictures from what seemingly started as an intimate dinner that turned into a business meeting.

Reporters clicked pictures through the windows of the hotel’s restaurant where Myo Mi-Sun was having dinner with her bodyguard over romantic candlelight. They clearly cropped the pictures because Lucien’s arm and Dae-Ho’s shoulder were in the shots, but the innuendo was more than enough to paint a picture that the tabloids was running with.

The romantic dinner turned into a business meeting when BT5’s founding members Bin Ji and Tae-il arrived. From what Dae-Ho explained, they apologized for Ya Da and Cah So’s actions, and for them sharing where Myo Mi-Sun was to their fans.

They hadn’t meant to do that.

Of course Myo Mi-Sun assured them it was alright, then she got down to business. One music video, which wasn’t even an actual offer, turned into ten offers for the upcoming album, whenever it saw the light of day.

From what Chairman Hu could grasp, it was creative differences that was causing the album to not have any progress. His niece suggested to call it The Singles LP, and let each member do their own song their way, then mix their styles for the last few tracks. The music videos could be solo projects for each track and have a story that plays out like a movie. It would literally be a short film in the end, which Myo Mi-Sun was getting the starring role in.

That, was impressive and unheard of.

Jae was proud of his niece and her newly found sense of business savvy.

But what was even more impressive was that Bin Ji and Tae-il actually liked the idea and couldn’t wait to pitch it to the record company and the rest of the band.

Myo Mi-Sun may have, singlehandedly, saved BT5 from breaking up over a laughter filled pasta dinner and sampler of Italian desserts.

Was there anything she couldn’t do with effortless ease anymore?

Chairman Hu was starting to question if there was, because his niece wasn’t the same scared, defiant girl that had sat in his office arguing with him about requiring a bodyguard only a few weeks ago.

Now she was a strong woman making her own business deals and contracts, standing up for herself and heart, her fans and career, and future.

Chairman Hu tossed the tabloid he was reading on his desk with the others then leaned back in his chair.

The incident from two days ago was plastered across every tabloid and newspaper in South Korea, and was trending online on every social media platform out there. Those that had never heard of Myo Mi-Sun had now, and it was a turning into a public relations nightmare since the P.R. Team hadn’t been briefed on it.

Even Chairman Hu was blindsided by it!

BT5’s management company had left multiple messages before Hu had even gotten into the office. He had no idea what they wanted, and when he called back he was surprised to discover his niece had, without consulting management, booked their next music videos and had dinner with the two founding members of the band.

That prompted him to call Dae-Ho next and wake him up to find out what in the hell happened.

Once he got a confusing story that involved martial arts and grocery store flowers, amusing stories over an Italian dinner, and Dae-Ho’s new unrequited love interest of the week, Jae demanded his son come into the office.

In the time it took to make that call, and get caught up with the Public Relations Team, it was already a public relations nightmare that had no end in sight.

Lula and Dae-Ho sat in the chairs across from him, waiting.

“I am assuming there was a reason why her bodyguard felt the need to assault Gang Moon,” Chairman Hu asked after reading through the article. “Something that wasn’t mentioned by the reporters that rather enjoyed it?”

Lula shrugged her shoulders ever so slightly. “Gang Moon was warned not to touch the client otherwise there would be painful repercussions. He attempted to touch the client after she repeatedly asked him to leave. A violation of her personal space and boundaries is something he was adamant on doing, thus it was dealt with accordingly.”

He gave her a look. “His management company is having a differing of opinions on how it was dealt with and want to press charges.”

“Yes, I know,” she said with a smirk; Will already gave them the heads up on an intercepted call from Gang Moon’s manager to their attorney about the situation. “No court will hear the case due to the background and stalker-like behavior of the one longing to press charges. Official grievances had already been filed against Gang Moon and they were merely waiting for the opportunity to serve him with the no-contact order.”

That, he didn’t know, and would work in their favor.
“They may come at NuStarr Talent Management or Kita for damages on a civil claim, but, again, it is not a concern,” she continued. “If they do, let us know and we will utilize our rather impressive reach within the courts.”

Chairman Hu wasn’t amused that Lula had an answer and solution for everything, but for what he was paying them it should come with that cost. “I expect this type of thing from less mature talent, or even from my son when he feels the need to act out,” he started, “but not from her security detail or Seon Rain. What in the hell is going on with my niece?!”

Dae-Ho smiled. “Dad, Cousin is growing up. Rain isn’t the scared little girl we’ve been stuck with for all these years, Dad. That’s major! She hadn’t even had to refill her anxiety pills that Will stole.”

Chairman Hu’s eyes widened.

That, was concerning.

“Rain is fighting back, taking back control in her life and career. What’s wrong with that?” Dae-Ho pressed. “So her bodyguard is now her rumored boyfriend. Why does that matter? He’s hot! Model hot. And he would never hurt her, so what’s the problem? They play a couple for the cameras until their contract is up and the threat is take out, then they have a mutual breakup where they still appear as friends. It’s a movie in the making, Dad.”

Chairman Hu glared at his son. “Get out of my office, now,” he instructed, pointing to the door.

Dae-Ho groaned. “Why? Why are you making such a big deal out of this?” he asked. “If you ask me, some crazy stalker burning down her house was the best thing that could have happened to her.”

“Someone trying to kill your cousin was the best thing that ever happened to her?” Chairman Hu asked in disbelief.

Dae-Ho rolled his eyes. “She wasn’t home and the stalker knew it. Come on, Dad, stop selling her short… I think I used that idiom right. Either way,” he shook his head, getting distracted. “Cousin got herself an exclusive high-end modeling contract with one of the most highly sought after designers in the world. Then she owned the red carpet, even if it wasn’t her own, stood up for herself, took back control of her imagine, life, and career, and kicked Gang Moon’s stalker ass to the curb for good this time.”

Lula shook her head; Kita did, technically.

“She was offered to read for a major Hollywood production, one she’s dreamt of for her entire life!” he continued. “And now she just helped one of the largest K-Pop bands in the world to get through their issues that was threatening to break them up and got herself cast in a series of music videos that will playout like a short film in Korean theaters. That’s major, Dad. No. That’s huge!”

Chairman Hu pointed to the door again; he needed to talk to Lula privately before things got any more out of hand. “Out.”

Dae-Ho groaned. “Fine. Whatever. I’m going to take a nap in my office. Wake me when you’re ready,” he said, patting Lula on the knee then left the office.
