Chapter 46

Yeonhui-Dong, Korea
Blue Lantern and Seishu-Sushi House

A man came in carrying a bamboo table and set it on the floor in front of Kita and Rain then bowed before excusing himself.

Next, servers came in carrying a selection of sake with a chokos set and set them down on the bamboo table before bowing then excused themselves.

Kita looked over the sake selection; it was impressive and would get them drunk and then some if they attempted to finish it all themselves.

Normally he wasn’t a drinker, especially when on the job and with a client, but he knew Seon Rain would pout and tear up if he didn’t have a drink with her.

But just one drink.

That’s all Kita would have to prevent her from getting upset.

That should be easy, right?

“Are you trying to get me drunk?” Kita asked when Rain poured each of them a drink.

Rain brought the small cup to her lips then smiled. “Maybe,” she mused before taking a sip then moaned.

What was he getting himself into?

“Behave,” he warned before taking a sip of his drink.

“I’ll try, but I make no promises. Two bottles in I can get a little huggy,” Rain teasingly warned. “So no funny business, Mister,” she scolded.

Kita cocked an eyebrow, causing Rain to giggle.

“I hate it when you look at me like that because you always try to hide your smile or smirk that follows when you do,” she complained, whining.

“I’ll do my best to not look at you like that,” he offered.

Rain groaned, softly swatting his knee. “Don’t do that. I like it. But to answer your question,” she quickly added when he cocked an eyebrow, “they play the types of movies I wish I could get in. No casting agent will take me seriously when I mention my interest in them though. They only cast Myo Mi-Sun as the smiling, klutz that needs the man to save her all the time, and in the end they all skip off into the sunset and live happily ever after.”

That pique his curiosity.

“Are you happy?” Kita asked, his eyes moving over the profile of her face.

“In life?” Rain asked, pouring them another drink.

“In general.”

“Yes, no, not really, sometimes,” she answered honestly, looking over at him. “Am I happy with what I do? With acting? No. Not anymore. In the beginning it was just a means to put food on the table and to experience a normal life that I would never have otherwise.”
