Chapter 117
Seoul, Korea
Golden Gardens Hotel
Rain laughed, wiping the tears from her eyes.
That was unexpected, especially after such a romantic and heartfelt admission.
“Are you honestly going to quote Bok Kyong from Sealed with a Kiss?” she asked, appallingly, her voice carrying so no one in the crowd missed it. “And a half dozen lines from Ran Hwan’s His Majesty My King?” she scoffed and the crowd laughed.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Gang Moon said, trying to hide his slip.
“I read for the lead female role in both productions,” she reminded him. “Regrettably, I had to turned down each role due to scheduling conflicts when they delayed production because of the writers’ strike. Remember?” she rhetorically asked. “That is all you are, Gang Moon. A B-List actor that is struggling to play a role he has no business even reading for.”
The reporters and crowd were stunned by her harsh words, but things were starting to make sense, it seemed.
“You want to do this here and now? In front of the cameras and the fans?!” Rain asked, loudly. “Fine. Let’s do it. Let’s invade both of our privacy, yours which you don’t care about but mine I do even if you didn’t, and drag this through the mud which is public opinion,” she scathingly announced. “You forced me into an engagement against my will,” she continued, speaking to the reporters. “Then you strong armed me into a televised wedding that you had no intentions of following through with. You made me look like a fool and caused me to doubt myself and if I was even worthy of being loved by someone.”
Gang Moon’s eyes were wide and his mouth had fallen open.
That, he never thought she would do.
Air the truth to the public and her precious fans.
“I suppose I made it too easy, didn’t I, Gang Moon?” she continued, Kita’s hand resting on the small of her back for support. “For all the glitz and glamour of the red carpet, that isn’t me. I am just a simple young woman that never asked for anything, and always tried to please everyone even when I shouldn’t. All I wanted in life was to entertain the fans, to be more for them and be there for them. But you took that from the fans when you took me from them.”
Kita smirked; going with the fan angle would cause the fans to turn against Gang Moon, and it was genius.
No fans, no career.
Rain smiled. “I am done being treated as if I am not worthy of being loved or being respected, Gang Moon. I have moved on and will continue to grow in my career, but more importantly, grow in my personal life. No longer is there room in my life or heart for those that only want to use and hurt me. Goodbye, Gang Moon. Let this be the last time we see each other, and the last time you stalk me in order to be where I just happen to be. Okay?” she asked endearingly, but there was an edge in her tone he’d never heard from her before.
It was a tone that warned Gang Moon not to press it, but he was too stupid not to.
“This isn’t like you,” Gang Moon said. “Is this some kind of hormonal thing?”
She was barely able to grab Kita when he went for the annoying man.
“And who in the hell are you?” Gang Moon demanded. “The hired help stays back, away from the talent on the carpet. So be a good boy and know your role and take your place with the others,” he said, motioning for Kita to step away from the woman holding onto him.
Kita smirked, taking Rain’s hand in his. “Oh how truly unobservant you are. It is not a red carpet,” he pointed out, to the amusement of the woman next to him and Dae-Ho behind them with Lucien. “There is not even a carpet of any hue in the vicinity. You are standing upon concrete and over there, the hotel stairs are made of marble leading to a lovely marble filled lobby.”
Gang Moon glared at him.
“It does not surprise me in the least that someone as unobservant as you,” Kita continued, “would be completely oblivious to the beautiful, talented woman, that was literally right in front of you. It is your loss, without question, and a loss I am more than supportive of.”
Lucien’s smile fell and his eyes widened.
“Who in the hell do you think you are?” Gang Moon demanded, closing the distance between them.
Kita let go of Rain’s hand then wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into him.
And as if it were second nature, Rain turned into him and rested her head against his shoulder due to their height difference even when she was in high heels, and she rested her hand on his chest over his heart.
“Do either of us need to spell that out for you?” Kita scoffed with a cocksure smile, his hand sliding down Rain’s back and rested just above her backside.
Rain chuckled. “Well, he did mistaken concrete for a red carpet,” she reminded him.
“That is true,” Kita agreed.
“And he did forget that I remember every line of every movie and show I have ever read for,” she continued with a smirk. “And he apparently already forgotten what you told him the last time we crossed paths.”
“Touch her again and I will break your neck,” Kita said, and she nodded. “In all fairness he hasn’t touched you-”
“But he wants to,” she mused. “Isn’t that right, Gang Moon??
Gang Moon glared at her, his hands clenching into fists.
“Do it,” Kita warned under his breath, “and it will be the last thing you ever do.”
Again, either Gang Moon was fearless or exceptionally stupid.
The prevailing opinion was leaning towards stupid.
“You aren’t fooling anyone,” Gang Moon sneered. “I know he’s your bodyguard, nothing more. You aren’t the type that would ever entertain someone like that, even on screen. Stop acting like something you’re not before the fans turn their backs on you like you’re trying to get them to do to me.”
When Kita’s body stiffened and his jaw clenched, Rain knew he was about to do something that would cost her heart more than it could take.
