Chapter 51
Yeonhui-Dong, Korea
Blue Lantern and Seishu-Sushi House
Kita and Rain sat on a bench out front of the theater and waited for their ride. Neither saw anything or anyone of concern. In fact, they were the only ones there that they could tell.
Rain had her head resting on Kita’s shoulder, his hands were folded together in his lap as he struggled to stay upright and awake.
“Being bad would be so much fun,” Rain grumbled under her breath. “I’m tired of being the good girl.”
Kita nodded; she always played the good girl but he knew she was anything but, she just didn’t know it yet. “You want to play the bad girl?” he clarified.
“No, I want to play the bad guy,” she corrected. “I think that’s why I like the character Ryunosuke Tsukue so much. He’s good but bad, and really bad, and super bad in a good way. I’ve always wanted to play the villain in something, even if it’s just a cameo, but no one will take me seriously. I’m just too cute and smiley and innocent,” she grumbled, making a face.
That was true, she was adorable and her level of angry was that of a sneezing kitten; cute and harmless.
“I think you’d make an terrifying villain, Seon Rain,” Kita said.
She smiled. “You’re only saying that because you’re drunk.”
“Yes, yes I am,” he agreed with a chuckle and she softly swatted his thigh. “You’re very abusive towards the person that you’ve been using as a pillow and drooling on for the past twenty-minutes.”
Rain nodded her agreement then stood.
Kita looked up at her. “What are you doing? You’re going to fall over again if you aren’t careful.”
“I’m completely sober,” she promised before giggling. “Dance with me, Mister Kita Yasuhiro.”
He shook his head. “That could prove to be very dangerous, for me of course, with your extreme lack of coordination and inability to not fall with nearly every step you take.”
“Come on,” she whined, stomping her feet then fell to the side with a shriek.
Kita was quick to his feet and caught Rain and pulled her into him, his arms wrapping around her waist and he held her tight to his body. “Could you make my point any better for me if you tried?” he rhetorically asked.
Rain groaned. “Shut it. You know that wasn’t my intention,” she pouted before hiccupping.
Kita knew that, but it was fun to poke fun at her when he could. “You really have to stop doing this,” he scolded when she looked up at him and their eyes met. “It’s getting rather obvious this is your go-to technique in your limited flirting arsenal.”
She huffed with a pout. “It isn’t intentional. I just lack coordination,” she said, wrapping her arms around his waist and rested her chin on his chest so she could continue to look up at him; she liked how much taller than her he was. “You just keep catching me.”
“It’s my job to catch you, to protect you,” he reminded her, looking down at her.
She looked so small and delicate, her cheeks flushed from the sake, and her dark olive green eyes sparkling in the light from the street lamps.
Seon Rain was beautiful in her own, ferocious kitten-like way.
“You make it easy yet unbelievably hard at the same time,” he said. “It’s annoying and frustrating.”
Rain groaned; that wasn’t what she wanted to hear. “I know. Never is it intentional though, just know that. Can you teach me?”
His brows furrowed. “To do what? Not throw yourself at me?” he offered.
She giggled. “No, not that. I rather enjoy that, if you must know,” she smugly informed him. “Can you teach me karate or something like that?”
Kita softly snorted. “What makes you think I know karate?” he scoffed.
“Do you?”
“Yes,” he mumbled under his breath, causing her to laugh.
“Why are you so stubborn?” she asked. “It’s cute, but super frustrating.”
He wasn’t cute and neither was his behavior, it was just the sake that was causing her to think his stubbornness was cute and adorable at the moment.
“Karate isn’t my best martial art form,” Kita informed her. “Aikido and Judo are my stronger areas. Koryu I’m surprisingly knowledgably in, but that’s strictly book based history of Samurai. Father demanded we learn of the past in order to protect those of… It doesn’t matter,” he said, catching himself. “Lula is an 8th Degree black belt in Karate. Lucien is more of a jack of all trades though.”
“Whoa,” she whispered in awe. “Will she teach me?”
Kita shrugged, swaying them from side to side as if they were dancing in order to stay upright. “Lula does what Lula wants, but I’ll pass it along that you would like to study under her. Don’t get too good though,” he sternly warned before dipping her backwards.
Rain shrieked in surprise.
“If you do you won’t need me anymore,” he said, pulling her back into him.
A smile filled her face. “You’re dancing with me!”
“We have been for a while now,” he pointed out with a chuckle, dipping her again before pulling her into him once more.
