Chapter 71
Seoul, Korea
Fashion Square - Outside Loft 33
“It is very well known that Seon Rain, Myo Mi-Sun, whatever you want to call her, is a natural peacekeeper,” Kita continued. “And Gang Moon exploited that, and used it in his favor. Through pressure and guilt, he forced her to date him, take his proposal and ring, and to rush a wedding which he used to exploit sponsors and the nation. Then, he leaves her at the altar as if it was nothing.”
“Narcissist?” she speculated.
Kita shook his head. “No. Gang Moon’s a sociopath,” he corrected. “Everything he’s done to Seon Rain was to benefit himself, he made himself the victim, and twisted everything so it told the story he wanted to tell. That is a sociopath, and I will not allow him to hurt her again.”
Lula’s eyes widened; that was what she was afraid of. “Do you think he might be the second stalker?” she asked.
“No,” Lucien said, surprising them.
Kita and Lula looked up; Lucien had climbed up the downspout on the side of the building and made himself comfortable on the stone edging between the second and third floors. His legs were freely swinging, his attention was on the night sky overhead as he eavesdropped on their conversation below. His implants picked up conversations rather well, especially on a quiet night like this.
How Lucien does it, they still don’t know, but they swear he’s part cat and they just might put a bell on him like Rain teased him about doing daily.
“Gang Moon is a sociopath, a disgusting person, terrible actor, joke of an action star, and disappointment in the bedroom, from what Gok Soo says… Pay her a compliment and she’ll tell you anything you want to know,” Lucien said with a smirk, looking down at them. “Recon that was purely derived from curiosity,” he explained when Lula started to ask. “Gok Soo will be wearing pink on the red carpet and thinks Myo Mi-Sun will as well so she wants to upstage her. It’s a competition in her mind, and always has been. Sadly, she doesn’t realize that Gang Moon is only using her as he did Myo Mi-Sun. In my professional opinion, Gang Moon is most likely going to try to reconnect with his ex on the red carpet and utilize the cameras in order pressure Myo Mi-Sun to rekindle that tabloid fueled romance.”
Kita looked to his sister. “You sent Lucien in without telling me?” he demanded.
“When do I ever?” she said; the baby of the family did his own thing usually.
Lucien chuckled. “I took it upon myself once I heard the story of their breakup… Oh, Mother wants you to call her, Kitty. Sorry.”
Kita glared at him. “Don’t call me that. There’s only one way you could have known.”
“Yes, I know,” Lucien agreed. “I wanted to watch the stingrays and I heard more than I was supposed to. Then I wanted to check into it because it’s concerning. The second stalker is still unknown. That we can all agree on. Gang Moon is a stalker, but not the one we’re looking for.”
“How can you be certain?” Lula asked.
Lucien made a face. “From what I’m able to tell, Gang Moon wanted the house in the breakup even if it was solely in Seon Rain’s name and was her property before their relationship started. Perhaps that second stalker will be at the event we’re going to? Will and I finished getting our security into place and we’ll run facial recognition and put together a new working profile for this second threat… We should go skydiving or bungee jumping. What do you think?” he asked, looking to his siblings below.
Lucien had been mature enough for one day, now he wanted to do something stupid and reckless. It was the usual request he made when he needed to distract his brother from something. This time it was the fact Lucien violated Seon Rain’s privacy when he eavesdropped on she and Kita’s private conversation at the aquarium.
“I’m telling Mother you’re climbing buildings without a harness again,” Lula warned before heading back inside.
Once she was gone, Lucien climbed back down.
“You should thank me,” he said.
“Why is that?” Kita asked, uninterested in the answer.
“Because Lula wanted to talk to you about your seeming infatuation with the client,” Lucien said as if it were obvious. “I didn’t think her concern had merit, until I crashed your date at the aquarium.”
Kita glared at him. “It wasn’t a date. She needed to think clearly and step away for a moment-”
“No, you did,” Lucien corrected. “I get it. Seon Rain is different. She isn’t like French girls, or Japanese girls for that matter. How someone can’t fall for her? I don’t know. That’s why she’s Korea’s sweetheart! But you can’t fall for her, Brother. You need to sever whatever heartstrings are forming because it’ll only hurt her in the end. You can’t love her how Seon Rain needs loved, or how she deserves to be loved. It isn’t something you’re capable of, and it isn’t safe.”
Kita snorted. “It isn’t like that, and you are the very last person I would take advice from when it comes relationships.”
Lucien patted him on the shoulder. “Yeah, I know, and it’s really sad that it’s come to this. There’s too many players, too many threats, and having tangled heartstrings is the only liability we can control. Get it together, Brother, before you’re taken off the detail,” he warned then started to head into the building and ran into Will, Lula, and Rain coming out.
Kita looked from Lula to Rain; she didn’t appear to have heard their conversation. “Seon Rain, did you want a demonstration of why we carry an umbrella?” he asked, giving his brother a look.
Lucien glared at him when Rain nodded excitably.
