Chapter 97

Seoul, Korea
Highway

It was an awkward drive back to Diplomat Row.

Rain and Dae-Ho were sitting in the back of the car with Will and Lula.

It was a tight fit.

Lucien was driving with Kita in the front passenger seat; Will’s security team took the other cars and motorcycles back.

The Yasuhiro siblings were irritated that their planning was seemingly moot because security had been compromised, and Will got inebriated in a sense, and Dae-Ho made a scene.

The only one that did what they were supposed to do was the one they were supposed to be protecting, the one they didn’t think could do it.

Once again, Seon Rain made their job easier while everyone else complicated it.

“You need to tell Uncle what you did,” Rain said, breaking the silence.

Dae-Ho made a face. “I’m sure one of those jerks captured it with their phone so it’ll be all over the internet soon enough,” he said with a groan. “Sorry I stole your moment of villainess, Cousin. It wasn’t my intention, but it was so much fun! I can totally see why you want to be the villain now.”

She smiled, nodding her agreement. “It was awesome! But it’s okay you took my spotlight of evil. I still got to kick a guy’s butt!” she proudly informed him. “And I didn’t even break a nail!”

Lucien chuckled. “I promised you wouldn’t if you did it right. You learn quickly, Grasshopper.”

Kita gave his brother a look. “Don’t encourage her,” he warned under his breath.

That was a discussion and lesson to plan out Kita needed to have with Seon Rain first.

Lucien chuckled. “There’s no encouragement needed, Brother,” he reminded him.

Rain continued to smile. “It wasn’t Ryunosuke Tsukue level ninja awesome, but it was a start for Seon Rain.”

Kita looked over his shoulder to her. “You did well, Seon Rain,” he said. “If you like, I can show you even more ways to protect yourself. As Mother warned, you need to be involved and a part of your protection detail. After tonight, Mother’s warning has merit, because you were the only one that didn’t complicate the evening or security,” he reminded the others, giving Will and Dae-Ho a scolding look.

They both smiled wide.

Lula snorted. “Mother got involved?”

“Oui,” was all Kita said, turning back around.

Will giggled, nuzzling against Lula’s shoulder and neck. “Don’t worry about video or pictures from Dae-Ho going Diva on Small Wang Sang-Hee. Didn’t you notice those looking at their phones all looked confused and irritated? It was because I hacked them,” he said with a chuckle. “Their phones kept rebooting as if trying to install a system update, which kept them from getting pictures or videos or making any calls or sending texts until we left.”

Lula chuckled. “So you do have a purpose after all,” she informed him and he smiled wide. “But you still aren’t getting laid.”

Will huffed with a pout.

That, actually made Rain feel better. She was worried Dae-Ho would have let his temper get the best of him and end up plastered all over the tabloids getting into it with her co-star. The fact Will took care of it without anyone having to ask meant a lot to her.

“Thank you for doing that,” Rain said. “It isn’t often that Cousin loses his temper, but when he does it usually gets me lots of unwanted attention. He doesn’t mean to, but that’s usually how it happens.”

Will reached over and patted her on the head. “It’s what I’m here for, Rain.”

She swatted his hand away. “You are never allowed to touch my purse again. You owe me a bottle of anti-anxiety pills,” she scolded.

“Uh huh,” Will agreed with a smile. “Thank you for having them. I kept my clothes on this time! That warrants a slumber party!”

Lula snorted, shaking her head. “It’ll take more than keeping you from making a scene and forcing me to kick a jerk’s ass to earn a slumber party, William.”

He smirked. “That means there’s a chance! I’ll just have to try harder.”

“Don’t,” she warned, swatting his leg. “There’s only so many fights I can get into for your annoying butt before it gets obvious that we’re flirting.”

Will laughed because she didn’t mean to say that out loud.

“I need to schedule a visit with the team Will made a lot of work for by setting off the sprinklers,” Rain said, running interference for Lula. “I always see the crew and their families before an event. And it was so beautiful. The flowers were gorgeous and everything looked amazing.”

Kita smiled, turning to look out the side window, making sure Rain didn’t see him smile.

Lula nodded. “Uh huh,” she dryly agreed, glaring at her big brother. “The meet and greet has already been taken care of. Monday you’ll meet with them for a lunch event. Does that work?” she asked Dae-Ho.

“Cousin’s schedule doesn’t pick up until mid-next week,” he said, flipping through the calendar on his phone. “Most likely it’ll be delayed longer since Hwang Sang-Hee got his butt handed to him in more ways than one.”

Rain looked at them curiously. “Why was the theme in navy and gold?” she asked, just realizing that wasn’t right. “Shouldn’t it have been red and white, or dark red?” she asked.

“You would think, huh?” Lula dryly agreed. “It is as if someone purposely color coordinated Gok Soo and Gang Moon’s movie premier to your outfit. Amazing how that happens, huh?”

Kita glared at his sister over his shoulder, warning her to keep her mouth shut.

Rain shook her head, well aware a fight was about to start. “If it isn’t too much to ask, can we-”

Her stomach growled, loudly, stealing everyone’s attention.

Will jumped, startled. “What kind of animal are you housing in there?!” he asked, shying away from her.

Rain softly swatted him, and he laughed. “It’s my tummy. I really need to get something to eat,” she sheepishly said. “I haven’t eaten since yesterday because of my outfit, and now I’m starving. I’m craving… Never mind,” she groaned, embarrassed to say what she was craving because it was so silly and low class, especially in front of a billionaire like William Lee and the refined palates of their Eurasian security team.

Kita nodded his understanding then motioned for his brother to pull over when a familiar sight came into view.
