Chapter 73
Seoul, Korea
Hotel Gym
Kita dropped the umbrella before his sister could do something stupid, like break her foot.
Instead, Lula’s assault caught the side of Kita’s head since he didn’t block as she expected him to.
Kita’s body spun through the air and he landed on the floor then flipped from his back to his feet in nearly the same movement.
Lula groaned. “Why did you have to do that?” she complained, heading over to her brother.
Kita tried to pop his jaw back into place but it wouldn’t move.
“You did it again, didn’t you?” Will asked. “That is going to require a trip to medical.”
Lucien groaned. “But I wanted to stay in the car,” he whined. “I don’t want to walk the red carpet.”
Rain looked between them before understanding registered. “No!” she gasped then scrambled to her feet and hurried over to them. “Are you okay?” she asked, her hands fluttering over her bodyguard, trying to figure out how she could help him.
Kita glared at his sister. “I am telling Mother,” he warned through clenched teeth.
Lula groaned. “Don’t do that. I didn’t think you’d drop it like that and would have blocked as you were supposed to do.”
“I am still telling Mother,” he sneered.
“Kita was trying to save your foot,” Will reminded her, picking up the discarded umbrella and inspected it. “Impressive, it held up to your abuse. I’m chalking this one up to a win for the design and finally figuring out the flaws.”
“Not nice!” Rain hissed, wagging a scolding finger in Lula’s face. “How could you be so foolish!”
Lula’s head tilted to the side to regard her; she couldn’t remember the last time someone other than their mother talk to her in such a manner.
“He is your brother,” Rain continued, ignoring the tears flooding her eyes. “You let your pride cloud your judgement and you took it out on your own family. Why would you do that?!” she demanded. “I was so excited to see what my bodyguards could do, to see them in action. I expected bantering and a little kung fu, not a temperamental brat throwing a fit! That’s what I’m supposed to be, remember?” she sneered, getting in Lula’s face.
Kita wrapped his arms around Rain’s waist and pulled her back. “Careful, Seon Rain,” he warned.
“Are you okay?” she asked, turning in his arms, looking up at him.
Kita’s eyes were wide and he looked between Rain and his sister more than once.
“Oh come on,” Rain whined. “Did she hit you that hard?” she asked, tenderly caressing the side of his face where the assault made contact.
It was already swelling.
He started to shake his head then stopped and nodded.
“You need to go to medical?” she asked in a panic.
Again, he nodded.
Rain nodded as well. “I’ll take you!” she beamed, trying to be carefree for him. “Then I’ll make you some soup. You’ll be right as rain in no time.”
Kita normally would have told her no and to go back to the suite with his siblings and her cousin, and that he’d take care of it himself. But he was concerned for her well-being.
Lula had never been told off before; usually she’d address it in a way that would have the one that scolded her would be limping away bleeding and bruised. Not to mention, Lucien was getting on his nerves with his tattling to Mother and endless misconceptions when it came to Seon Rain and her needs...
Even though, at the moment, Seon Rain was still in Kita’s arms and caressing his assaulted face, but there was a reason for it thus Lucien’s overly active imagination shouldn’t get too carried away.
Kita reached into his inside jacket pocket and produced the elevator key then held it up.
Rain looked from him to the key and back again.
He cocked an eyebrow.
“Really?” she beamed, taking the elevator key from him.
“Safer than taking the windows,” he said through clenched teeth and she giggled.
