Chapter 62

Seoul, Korea
Snowdrop Suite

Inside the room was dark so Rain flipped the switch next to the door and it illuminated the lights by the closet.

Kita groaned and pulled the blankets up over his head. “Leave me alone,” he whimpered.

Rain chuckled and headed across the room to the bed and set the tray down on the bedside table. “Come on, up with you. A two-day hangover can’t be the thing that takes out my bodyguard. Whatever would your siblings say?” she teased in a whisper.

His only response was an intelligible grumble.

“Come on,” she said, softly shaking him. “You have to eat something. You weren’t puking, so that leads me to believe the headache and hyper-sensitivity to external stimuli is from your system struggling to metabolize the sugar the sake turned into. Here, have some bone broth. It’ll make you feel better.”

“Leave me alone,” Kita groaned, pulling the covers up over his head even more.

Rain huffed. “No.”

She tried to pull the covers from his head but he had a death grip on them.

Instead, she pulled them up from the bottom and ducked under them with him.

“What are you doing, little smiling demon?” he complained, trying to get away from her.

“Come on,” she said, tickling his feet. “Stop acting like a child.”

Kita flinched away from her. “Stop it. I don’t like my feet being touched,” he complained, pulling away when she tickled them again and he accidentally kicked her in the process.

“Omph,” Rain gasped, falling back.

“Damn it, that wasn’t my intention,” he said, sitting up in a rush. “Are you okay, Seon Rain?” he asked then instantly cringed and fell over in pain. “Ow. Not smart. Kill me. Please.”

She groaned from the foot of the bed. “Shut up. Now we’re both in pain and miserable. Why are you always hurting me?” she whined. “I was just trying to make you feel better.”

Kita patted the blankets down until he could see her. She looked fine, took a kick to the side but nothing that would injury her. “You’re fine,” he said. “Stop trying for attention.”

Rain pouted her bottom lip out.

“Devious, but I’m not moved by a pouting bottom lip,” he informed him.

She made a face and pulled the blankets up around her and groaned.

“Even more devious, making it look as if we shared a bed,” Kita said, giving her a look. “You should be simply ashamed of yourself.”

Rain giggled. “Shut up. Please eat something,” she said, crawling up next to him then carefully pulled him up into a sitting position and arranged some pillows behind him. “Comfy?” she asked, looking from what she was doing to his face and that was when she realized she was straddling him.

In his bed.

Where he sleeps.
