Chapter 106
Lyon, France
Yasuhiro Residence
There was a knock at the door before it opened without an invitation or announcement.
When he popped his head inside, a red dot appeared between his eyes.
“Really?” Lucien complained.
Evie blushed, lowering the gun in her hand. “Son! What brings you home already? Did something happen?” she asked, putting the MP5K back in the utensil drawer.
“Why do you have a precision laser on the kitchen MP5K?” Lucien asked, hanging his jacket up.
“I am cooking,” she said as if it were obvious. “You know there is less accuracy when shooting one-handed like an American in an action flick, so I added a rail to that MP5K for attachments… Where are your siblings?” she asked when the rest of her children didn’t follow the baby of the family inside.
Lucien sat at the counter she was working at and batted his lashes.
“Did something happen?” she asked again, not distracted by his batting lashes.
“Oui,” he said, making a face. “Kita had an altercation in the hotel bar.”
“He is okay?” Evie demanded, wiping her hands off on a towel.
“Oui,” Lucien said, again, then set the envelope in his hand on the counter.
“Did he kill someone?” she pressed.
“Non. It was a Russian, huge Russian, but easily taken out by the two of them.”
“Lula and Kita?” she surmised.
“Non. Kita and Seon Rain,” he amusingly informed her and her eyes widened. “She knocked him out with a bottle of high end vodka to the face, shattering his nose. Apparently, Seon Rain believes she is Kita’s bodyguard.”
Evie smiled wide then applauded. “Well done. I knew she was special.”
“Special pain in the ass, but endearing when she does it,” Lucien agreed. “The man was left alive, but he is not talking according to Lula. I took William’s jet because Kita relieved the man of something that he did not turn over to hotel security to process. He wants you to process it, Mère.”
Evie joined her son then took the envelope and looked inside. “Why not have William do it? He has access to every government database that I do and beyond… The little brat has hacked them all. He is rather proficient with pulling fingerprints and running them quicker than I can. Why not have him do it?” she asked, eying the metal lighter and the money clip with folded Russian rubles in the envelope.
Lucien shrugged. “Kita asked me to bring it home for you to do,” he said. “That should tell you something, Mère. William does not know where I took his jet, but I am certain he checked the GPS and knows now. The others, including William, are staying in and watching classic martial arts films while our client cooks… She is impressive in the kitchen, but not as good as you,” he quickly added when she cocked an eyebrow.
Evie shook her head; this development was concerning and reiterated that her children were out of their comfort zone with this engagement and the limited support they have in the field. “Can you stay for dinner?” she asked.
He smiled wide. “Why do you think I am sitting here and made myself comfortable?” he teased.
Evie softly swatted his arm. “There is no denying you my son,” she scolded. “You are nothing but trouble.”
“Yes, I know,” Lucien agreed with a smile. “It should have been my middle name.”
Murai came down the stairs. “Is that my boy I hear?” he asked.
Lucien nodded. “The baby of the family is home for now, Chichi. I can only stay for dinner then I have to head back to Seoul.”
“What happened?” Murai asked, picking up the envelope on the counter then looked inside. “Rubles? Russians at it again?”
Evie cocked an eyebrow. “Again?” she asked.
