Chapter 184

Samcheong-dong Neighborhood
Ong Se-Ri Residence

The knock at the door stole Ong Se-Rei’s attention, and instantly made her suspicious.

But before Ong Se-Ri could get up to answer the door, in walked Dae-Ho and Pan Jin with Lucien, and he closed the door behind them.

“Oh I see how it is. Now it’s a family thing,” Ong Se-Ri sneered. “That’s just lovely.”

Dae-Ho and Pan Jin sat on the couch with Rain.

“What is it you want? I grow tired of the performance,” she said. “And just like everything you’ve ever been in, your performance is lackluster and amateurish at best.”

Kita fought the urge to pull his side arm and just shooting the annoying woman that was so hateful towards Seon Rain…

His Rain.

“I am not your enemy, Ong Se-Ri,” Rain reminded her.

“That is a differing of opinions we’ll forever have,” she scathingly reminded him.

“You want your career back,” Rain said as if it were obvious. “And I can give that to you, but not here. I will give you an exclusive story that will be your final headline in South Korea before you take the offered job in Singapore.”

Ong Se-Ri gave her a look. “What job? I haven’t been offered any jobs.”

“You are being offered one now,” Rain pointed out the obvious. “It is a lead entertainment anchor role for Singapore’s highest rated news station,” she explained.

“You can’t offer that,” Ong Se-Ri argued.

Rain smiled. “Yes, I can,” she said. “You see, my family is growing more and more with each passing day. And the owner of that particular media company I have been hanging out with and will one day call brother. That man has so graciously given me free rein over certain business ventures that he has recently procured. And one of them is Singapore’s 9Media Worldwide.”

Ong Se-Ri’s eyes widened and mouth fell open.

“In return for the job you have always wanted,” Rain continued, “you get one last exclusive Myo Mi-Sun story to cement your name and reputation in Korea as a reporter and not a tabloid hack. Interested now?”

The offer was too good to be true, but the proof was in pictures from Southern Europe. William Lee was the one that had Singaporean roots, and Myo Mi-Sun had been spending a lot of time with him as of late, including multiple red carpets and a lavish vacation.

“The offer,” Rain continued, now that she knew Ong Se-Ri was salivating to say yes, “includes a half-billion won, or six hundred-fifty thousand Singaporean dollars a year plus incentives and bonuses. It includes a penthouse in one of the most prestigious luxury high-rises on Orchard Road, personal assistant, driver, and an impressive expense account.”

Ong Se-Ri struggled to keep her expression impassive and attitude indifferent, but the gleam in her eyes Rain clearly saw.

“As their lead entertainment reporter you will travel the world and be on every red carpet out there. You will be the one interviewing A-List celebrities and doing all the big movie premiers and press junkets. Interested?” Rain asked with a smile.

“If it isn’t your bullsh*t engagement you want me to announce to the Nation, what is it?” Ong Se-Ri reluctantly asked, irritated the usually docile young woman was suddenly calling all the shots and holding all the cards.

Rain looked to Dae-Ho and Pan Jin for permission to continue.

They nodded their agreement that this was what needed to be done.

“Ong Se-Ri,” Rain started, “may I introduce you to my little sister: Pan Jin.”

Ong Se-Ri gave them a look. “Huh?”

“B*tch, may I introduce you to my little sister: Pan Jin,” Dae-Ho said with a condescending smile.

Ong Se-Ri started to laugh, thinking they were screwing with her, but abruptly stopped.

The three, sitting there together, Rain without her Myo Mi-Sun disguise on, and Ong Se-Ri growing up with both Rain and Dae-Ho, she clearly saw the family resemblance now that it was right in front of her.

None of the pictures posted from the European vacation showed all three of them together. They were perfectly cropped and staged accordingly, so the family resemblance wasn’t noticeable to the general public. Since Pan Jin took most of the pictures, it meant she was behind the camera unless Dae-Ho took it upon himself to take some pictures.

But Ong Se-Ri should have known. She should have seen it herself! The first pictures she saw of the newly named president was as if she was looking at Seon Rain when she was younger.

“How?” Ong Se-Ri stammered.

“Same mother,” Dae-Ho said.

“Same father,” Rain said. “Hence the potential scandal that could arise if this story was to hit the tabloids in a non-controlled environment.”

And now Ong Se-Ri understood why the deal she was being offered was as good as it is.

“How do you know I won’t run to the tabloids?” Ong Se-Ri asked.

“Because we have complete control of everything you could use to post the scandal and we control every contact you had at your one time disposal,” Rain informed her. “If you can behave yourself and tap into that journalism skillset you have, you will have the fame and fortune you have always wanted. Do we have an agreement?” she asked with a smirk, offering the annoyed reporter her hand.

Ong Se-Ri glared at her before taking her hand and gave it a shake. “Since you have ruined me, what choice do I have?”

“There is always a choice,” Rain said, pulling her hand away. “Pictures will be provided to use and if you clean yourself up, we can record the interview at the office in three hours. Does that work for you?” she politely asked.

Ong Se-Ri looked between them then got to her feet. “I’ll meet you at the office. Show yourself out,” she said before she hurried to shower and get cleaned up.

Dae-Ho made a face. “I really don’t like her,” he complained.

“Me neither,” Pan Jin said.

Rain chuckled. “There is no doubt you two are siblings,” she teased. “Just stick to the script, and if needed I’ll run interference.”

Kita caressed her head. “Just say the word and it will be taken care of accordingly,” he said under his breath.

Rain looked up at him then blushed when their eyes met. “Don’t tempt me,” she whispered with a smirk, and he smirked as well.

“Ew, get a room,” Pan Jin and Dae-Ho complained, getting to their feet.

“Siblings,” Lucien said, shaking his head. “And no killing the reporter, Kitty. Now that we have this wrapped-” he started.

“You take the other two back to the hotel so they can get ready themselves,” Kita said. “Then we’ll meet you at the station. Seon Rain has an appointment.”

Lucien shook his head. “Sorry, Kitty. You are on babysitting duty. I have to meet Mother and Father, and being heavily armed might be required.”

Kita glared at him.

“I know where you’re going, and they should go with you since it involves them,” Lucien said. “Otherwise I’ll call Lula and have her go with you. Won’t that be fun?!” he beamed, smiling wide.

“I am going to shoot you,” Kita warned.

“And I’ll tell Mama,” Lucien retorted then chuckled when Rain smacked Kita’s hand away from his gun.
