Chapter 90

Seoul, Korea
Twilight Theater

No one was inside so she squealed with excitement and jumped up and down, careful to land on her toes so not to break a heel. She did a little dance, and spun around.

“You did it!” Rain beamed to her reflection in the mirror. “No longer is Myo Mi-Sun a simple pushover, girl next-door that needs a man in order to be strong. No. She is the strong one, the one that will save him! Or kill him. Or destroy the world… Ooh, I can totally be the villain now. Or a secret agent, a spy with a mission to save the world and no romance is involved. A love them and leave them type, just like James Bond!” she beamed, dancing with excitement then jumped back, startled when she saw she wasn’t alone.

Kita stood there looking at her, his head tilted to the side to regard her.

“What are you doing in here?” Rain demanded. “This is the ladies restroom! Get out!”

Kita gave her a look, pulling the ear piece out of his ear. “No. Did you finish what you needed to do?” he asked.

She made a face. “I suppose. I just needed to celebrate in private. But I can’t get privacy, can I?” she grumbled.

“You wanted to celebrate?” he repeated, walking towards her.

Rain nodded then shrugged. “It was celebratory, in my opinion-”

“It was,” he agreed, checking to make sure her belt was cinched correctly so she didn’t have a wardrobe malfunction. “You did exceptionally well out there, and you owned the red carpet as if it was your own. I am proud of you, Seon Rain.”

She smiled. “Really?”

Kita nodded. “Yes. I was worried that you would allow them to walk all over you, but you didn’t. You owned it, you took control, and demanded an audience. You are truly breathtaking when controlling the world, even if it is only your world that you’re controlling.”

That was the greatest compliment anyone had ever given her.

Tenderly Kita wiped away the tear that rolled down her cheek.

“Don’t cry,” he pleaded. “When you cry it makes me get murdery and you said no murder.”

Rain giggled. “Would you really kill him?”

“Who?” he asked.

“Gang Moon,” Rain clarified, making a face.

Kita shrugged. “I said I would snap his neck, I never threatened him with death.”

“Doesn’t a broken neck equal death?” she asked.

“Not if you do it right,” he said with a smirk, causing her to giggle. “It truly concerns me when you find stuff like that amusing. It isn’t like you in the least.”

“It isn’t like Myo Mi-Sun,” she agreed, straightening his tie out for him. “But it is like Seon Rain, they just don’t know it yet.”

Kita smiled, to her surprise. “Let it out in small doses,” he warned, pulling her long ponytail over her shoulder then smoothed it out for her. “Otherwise they will think you had a nervous breakdown. Ease into your evil side. I speak from experience when I warn that.”

Rain gave him two enthusiastic thumbs up. “Slowly release the evil so they are none the wiser, got it!” she smugly said.

He shook his head with a chuckle. “Ready? We’ll leave when you give the word.”

“You promise?” she whispered, trepidation flooding her.

Kita cupped her face with one hand, his thumb caressing her cheek. “As long as you permit me, I will protect you. It is my solemn vow to you that you will be safe when in my care, remember?”

Rain blushed. “I remember.”

“Then you have no reason to ask me to promise,” he retorted, pressing his finger against the tip of her nose and she swatted his hand away, getting a chuckle in return.
