Chapter 146
Firenze, Florence
Morosini Villa
The three story villa wasn’t overly large, which surprised Dae-Ho and Pan Jin. Usually when you go to a billionaire’s vacation home in Italy it’d be a castle or an estate with sixty rooms and eighty bathrooms on thousands of acres.
Instead, it was surprisingly cozy with three stories of stone and wood, a large pond that was stock with fish, private runway, garage and fueling stations for two jets and five luxury vehicles, and no staff. It was furnished and updated, clean, and oddly quiet.
“My room is in the basement,” Will said, heading over to the winding staircase. “I hope no one wanted wine because the wine cellar was converted to a bedroom-safe house. If you scream, we won’t hear you,” he absently added, heading down the stairs.
Lula shook her head. “And you won’t hear if I make him scream. The second story has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The third story has two master bedrooms with bathrooms. I shall be in the wine cellar with William; it is sound proof so you will be on babysitting duty,” she instructed her brothers before heading down the stairs.
Lucien looked to Pan Jin, Dae-Ho and Tae-il; he didn’t want to babysit tonight. “You three will be with me on the second story, Kitty will take the catatonic one to the third story with him. Slumber party it is!” he beamed.
“Do not call me that,” Kita grumbled, walking past him with Rain sleeping in his arms.
Once they were out of view, Pan Jin looked to Dae-Ho. “Is she okay? I’ve never seen anyone sleep through a rough landing and being picked up and carried so far like that before,” she said.
Dae-Ho shrugged. “Cousin sleeps like the dead when she sleeps. The first night in protective custody she slept for three days straight without stirring. I thought she was dead! Drank, a lot, thinking the worst. But then she woke up fine and unaware that many days had passed. When shooting long hours day after day, it kicks her ass and causes her to crash when the opportunity presents.”
Tae-il softly snorted under his breath. “I’d pretend to be sleeping too if it was a hot guy like that carrying me around and letting me use his shoulder as a pillow.”
Dae-Ho softly swatted him in the arm. “Trust me, that much drool is only possible from the unconscious. Cousin is an amazing actress, but she can’t feign sleep to save her life. And don’t try to make me jealous. It’ll only end with me shamelessly flirting with you and trying to sneak into your bed at night instead of Lucien’s.”
“Now you’re challenging me,” Tae-il teased.
Pan Jin shook her head. “Ew. I will separate you two if you don’t stop. We have a big day tomorrow of shopping and seeing the sights. Let’s turn in and be as effortless as possible for Mister Lucien, okay?”
Tae-il patted her on the top of the head, getting his hand smacked away in return and a glare. “I swear, you and Dae-Ho are cut from the same cloth. He’s all about taking control of a situation and making others work. If you aren’t careful, she’ll take your job,” he teased Dae-Ho.
“I am Father’s favorite so there will always be a job for me,” Dae-Ho smugly informed them. “Show us to our room so I can shamelessly flirt in private with my date.”
Lucien groaned; he would be heading back to the jet to raid the wet bar before the night is through at this rate.
They started up the stairs, but Pan Jin stopped and looked back out the windows towards the runway.
“What is it?” Lucien asked, motioning for Dae-Ho and Tae-il to go up the stairs to the third bedroom.
“There’s room for another jet in the hangar. Is that normal?” she asked. “Or are we expecting company the others do not know is coming?”
Lucien motioned for her to continue up the stairs; she was too observant for her own good. “Will has a collection of jets. He enjoys taking care of those he considers family. Sometimes those jets are in use at the same time but flying in different airspace, but they always find the same destination.”
Pan Jin gave him a look. “Romanticizing something I have a sneaking suspicion you are responsible for will only get you in trouble with the others,” she warned.
That was true.
“Even if I am and did, the explanation is the same. Just like how William ended up in Seoul for our job, he wants to get there as quickly as possible and that’s with the fastest, and usually most expensive, jets on the market. He has at least a hundred estates around the world, that I know of at least. Some, I don’t think he’s even been to before, but they are usually pretty nondescript like this one.”
That, actually made sense to Pan Jin.
“The less ostentatious means it gets easily overlooked,” she said.
“Exactly.”
“It is ingenious really,” she commented. “Never would I have thought William Lee was, well, how he is. After Myo Mi-Sun was photographed with him, and the TikTok video gave a name to the face, I looked him up to see what he was about.”
Lucien gave her a look; was she possibly one of the stalkers they were still trying to identify.
“I was scared she fell for another Gang Moon,” Pan Jin said before gagging, making a face, and Lucien chuckled. “But his antics didn’t make sense because Myo Mi-Sun would never entertain someone so reckless. But then when he was right there, eating everything possible in the sweets aisle at the convenience store, and making goofy faces and only had eyes for your terrifying sister, I knew something wasn’t adding up.”
Lucien nodded his agreement. “William Lee is a very unique person, but a simple one. What you see in the media, that’s not him… It literally is not him.”
“William Lee uses doubles,” she surmised.
“Yes. They have been targeted over the years, others targeted themselves out of stupidity and foolishness,” he explained. “But they are paid handsomely for their services and their families compensated if something happens. William is a simple creature, as you noticed, and his heart is as big as the moon.”
Pan Jin already figured that out; William Lee was a beautiful souled creature that was childlike in a way that only made him more beautiful in her eyes.
Lucien offered a smile but it quickly fell. “The problem with having a big heart is it makes it easier to target, and the keeper of his soul will not let it go unaddressed. Love does that, and war will follow since my sister is involved.”
