Chapter 15
Seoul, Korea
Diplomat Row
“Calm down,” Lucien whispered, looking over at his brother.
“You should be paying attention to traffic so you do not get us kill, not me,” Kita retorted in French, getting a slight nod in return. “And it is our lovely sister that needs to learn her role and what discretion and non-disclosure means,” he scathingly added.
Rain and Dae-Ho exchanged looks; this wasn’t going to be fun. These siblings fought more than they did!
When Lucien drove to a tall, glass-covered building on the water, he turned into an underground parking garage that was flanked by armed security guards. He rolled down the window and showed them his identification card then swiped the card through the handheld reader one of the guards had in hand.
After two beeps, the heavy metal gate in front of them started to rise and solid metal security pilings retracted into the ground.
The guards motioned them through.
Once they passed, the gate lowered and the pilings rose into place again.
Never had Dae-Ho or Rain seen security like this.
In fact, they didn’t even know what the building was!
The street they had turned down was one they have never been down before, even though they had called Seoul home for a decade.
“Where are we?” Rain reluctantly asked when Lucien parked then turned the car off.
The three didn’t respond and instead got out of the car and went around to the trunk to pull their bags out.
“Cousin, I don’t have a good feeling about this,” Dae-Ho commented, looking around.
“You were before,” she reminded him. “Then you were overly excited when you saw the eye candy of the man variety.”
Absently he nodded, continuing to look around.
Nearly every vehicle in the underground garage was identical; black sedans with black tinted windows, black transport vans without windows, and black street bikes. None of them had plates. There were a few flashier modeled sports cars, but they were also black with black tinted windows and no plates.
“Are we in a spy movie?” Dae-Ho asked then smiled wide. “We’re in a spy movie!” he beamed, bouncing up and down with excitement. “Can I get a gun?”
Rain shook her head and went to open her door but it was opened for her and Lucien smiled and offered her his hand. “Thank you,” she said with a smile and slight bow, then got out of the car.
“Think nothing of it,” he said before offering Dae-Ho a hand out as well.
The young man pulled himself out of the car and into Lucien’s arms then wagged his brows.
“Oh you are going to be trouble,” Lucien with a chuckle.
Dae-Ho smiled wide; he was seven-inches shorter than the amused Eurasian, something he found indescribably sexy. “Trouble should have been my middle name.”
“That is not surprising,” Lucien said, and Dae-Ho was reluctant to let go of him. “Try to stay out of trouble until we are settled, if possible.”
Dramatically he sighed. “Fine, but I make no promises that I won’t need put in timeout later or will be deserving of a spanking.”
Lucien blushed with a small smile, looking away from the flirting young man. “Elevators are this way,” he said, waving for them to follow Lula as she took the lead.
Kita took up the rear and help Lucien carry the luggage.
Rain looked over her shoulder as they went, looking around and trying not to eye the man glaring straight ahead behind her.
With her lack of luck, it was bound to happen and it did.
Rain caught her toe causing her to stumble.
Instantly Kita was reaching for her arm and pulled her back into him, protectively holding her to him.
Rain looked up at him with wide eyes. “How do you do that?” she asked; he didn’t even drop the luggage he was carrying.
“Do what?” Kita asked, stepping back from her so she didn’t get any more crazy ideas.
“Move like that,” she said, her head tilting to the side to regard him. “I’ve never seen anyone move like that before.”
“And now you have,” Kita said, his tone belittling. “Now, if you would be so kind as to pay attention. I would like to make it to the elevator in one piece and without having you throw yourself at me anymore than you already have today. Do you think you can handle that?” he asked condescendingly.
Before she could stop herself, Rain kicked at him as hard as she could.
Not with the intention of hitting him though.
No.
Rain knew Kita was much too fast and impressively skilled when it came to using his honed reflexes.
It was merely the sentiment that she wanted to get across that he was being a rude jerk again and that if he kept it up she would kick in him the shins.
But, as with everything in Rain’s experience with life, nothing happens how it’s supposed to.
Rain’s slip-on shoe went flying off of her foot when she harmlessly kicked at him. The seemingly non-threatening canvas shoe went sailing through the air, right at the smug man’s face.
