Chapter 124

Seoul, Korea
Stage C

Myo Mi-Sun sat in the makeup chair, waiting for the hairstylist, Ae-Ro, to get done so Ri Dan could get her makeup done.

Ae-Ro was talking so quickly that Myo Mi-Sun couldn’t get a word in, and merely offered a smile or nod to whatever it was the young woman was going on about. She was the usual hairstylist for this production house, and was overly excited and animated when she talked, so styling took longer than it should.

There was no rush though.

Hwang Sang-Hee was fighting with the Producer and Director in his trailer about his security concerns.

Apparently, the amused Eurasian that blew him a kiss when he saw her standing outside Myo Mi-Sun’s trailer was a threat to his well-being and he wanted her removed from set.

That wasn’t going to happen, and Hwang Sang-Hee was very vocal about it.

Kita was standing back in the small trailer, hands folded together in front of him, his eyes moving over everyone and everything before returning to the woman that appeared embarrassed that he had to suffer through this with her.

The trailer was small, one end of it was taken up by rolling racks with her wardrobe for the remaining shooting schedule, and a makeup station took up the other half. In the middle was a couch that folded out to a single cot used for napping, and a water closet was hidden in the back and barely big enough for a normal sized person to use comfortably.

There was a knock at the door before it opened and Lucien popped his head inside with a smile.

“Thirty minutes to set,” he said.

Kita cocked an eyebrow; his brother was wearing a studio provided headset, jeans and a slim fit t-shirt which made it impossible to carry a sidearm, and had identification and access badges hanging around his neck denoting he was supposed to be there.

It never failed to impress Kita and Lula with how effortlessly their baby brother could infiltrate a secure location and no one batts an eye over it.

Myo Mi-Sun smiled. “Thank you,” she humbly said with a slight bow and Lucien nodded and closed the door. “Ae-Ri, my hair is as beautiful as it’s been in longer than I can remember. Thank you.”

Ae-Ri bowed, stepping back so makeup could take over.

Ri Dan rolled out her canvas brush holder and went to work. “Did you fall again?” she asked, pulling some concealer out to cover the slight bruising on the underside of Rain’s chin.

Kita’s jaw clenched but he minded his tongue.

The bruise was from Lucien and their first attempt at training, and Rain had somehow gotten tangled up in his legs causing her to hit herself in the face with her own fist as she fell.

It was one of many inadvertent self-inflicted bruises Seon Rain was hiding.

“Believe it or not, I hit myself in the face by accident,” Myo Mi-Sun assured them, so they didn’t accusingly eye the man standing back any more than they already had.

Ri Dan glared at the man standing back; she didn’t believe Myo Mi-Sun, especially considering it was one of a few bruises in varying degrees of healing she saw. Varying stages of healing meant they were inflicted at different times, and that suggested a possibly abusive relationship.

Then again, Ri Dan had been Myo Mi-Sun’s makeup artist for nearly every movie she had done and has had to cover multiple bruises from injuries received on set that Myo Mi-Sun was responsible for.

The woman truly was a danger to herself.

“Are you going to let me do your makeup for your BT5 video?” Ri Dan asked. “It’d be my first music video.”

Myo Mi-Sun smiled. “If I have any say in it you will,” she promised. “It is still in the process negotiations at the moment, nothing has been finalized yet, but when it is I will let you know.”

Ri Dan hugged her. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Kita stepped closer to them in warning.

Myo Mi-Sun patted the woman’s arm so she’d let go of her. “It’s the least I can do for you, Ri Dan. You have done my makeup for years and have been a part of my career before I graced my first movie screen even.”

Ri Dan bowed. “There is nothing I wouldn’t do to help you, you know that,” she promised.

“And I appreciate it,” Myo Mi-Sun said with a slight bow of the head.

There was another knock on the door, this time it was Lula that joined them.

“Hair and makeup is done,” Lula informed them in a curt tone, cocking an eyebrow.

Ae-Ro quickly bowed then hurried from the trailer; the Eurasian terrified her.

Ri Dan glared at Lula.

“It’s okay,” Myo Mi-Sun promised. “You work magic with very little time, as always. I will meet you on set.”

Ri Dan bowed then headed from the trailer, glaring at the bossy woman in passing.

Lucien joined them, closing the door behind him. Over his shoulder he carried a large canvas duffle bag.

“What is it?” Kita asked.

Lula motioned for him to stay where he was.

Lucien dropped the heavy bag to the floor then started searching the trailer, flipped through the wardrobe racks, each box with a pair of shoes in it, and each cubby in the small trailer.

“They have eyes on you,” Lucien said, joining them with some video cameras in hand then dropped them in the duffle bag with the others.

Rain’s eyes widened.

“Low tech,” Kita commented. “Not something Lucien’s implants would have picked up or William could hack.”

“Which means someone on site has been commissioned with maintaining them. Each cassette only has ninety-minutes of tape and were manually turned on,” Lula said. “It doesn’t resonate with the stalker. If I had to venture a guess, this has Ong Se-Ri written all over it.”

Rain screamed in frustration, stealing their attention. “Will you just shoot her already?!” she demanded, looking to Kita.

Kita smirked.

“Non,” Lula scolded in French. “The recordings were delayed by sixty-seconds, so there’s no imagery of the one that placed them.”

“You need to be careful,” Lucien warned, looking to Rain. “They are trying for a headline, and if Kita isn’t careful, he’ll give them one.”

Kita glared at him.

Rain shook her head then got to her feet and headed from the trailer.

They hurried after her.

“Hey!” Myo Mi-Sun called out as she hurried onset, stealing everyone’s attention. She waved everyone over and they joined her; it didn’t matter their role in the production, they eagerly rushed over to see what Myo Mi-Sun wanted.

Myo Mi-Sun looked around and smiled. “I have missed you all and this movie has taken longer than we thought, but it’s nearly wrapped,” she proudly announced and it was followed by applause from nearly all of the cast and all of the crew. “When the Director finally announces ‘And that’s a wrap’ I’ll host the after party for the cast and crew and their families. It’s the least I can do to say thank you for putting up with me for this long. Now let’s get this film in the can so we can party!” she beamed.

Loud cheering and applause followed her announcement.

“I do not see how this is remotely helpful,” Lula mumbled under her breath.

Lucien shrugged. “Neither do I, and it just created a security risk we will need to pull additional guards for in order to control when filming is completed.”

She nodded her agreement.

Rain joined them once the crew went back to what they were doing. “That young woman, that one, and that one,” Rain said, motioning with her chin to each. “They shouldn’t be here.”

Kita smirked, his hand resting on Rain’s back. “Ingenious,” he commented.

“Easier than lying in wait for them to return for their cameras,” Rain said. “Now, take care of removing the threat and give them back their cameras so Ong Se-Ri knows that we’re better and add them to the no-contact order from the courts. Now, if you will excuse me, I have a film to finish.”

Rain turned on her heels and started back towards her trailer, her hand reaching out and grabbed Kita’s hand, and he went with her.

Lucien and Lula watched them go.

“We have a problem,” Lucien commented.

“Make sure you are armed in case it is needed to protect Kitty from himself when Hwang Sang-Hee gets on set,” Lula instructed.

Lucien nodded, handing her his headset and went to do as ordered.
