Chapter 135
Tokyo, Japan
Imperial Luxury Building
Ryo paced back and forth in the secure room, tapping her finger against her chin, eyes trained on the wall consuming screen in front of the room filled with pictures of Myo Mi-Sun and her mysterious new boyfriend.
Four of the best hackers money could buy were each sitting at a desk surrounded by monitors.
Their jobs were simple; find everything they could on “Myo Mi-Sun” and her bodyguard without getting caught.
What should have been simple was proving to be more difficult than they expected.
They had to be careful.
Any search coming from a Japan IP address triggered an alert. They had to mask their IP addresses, word their searches carefully, and photo searches would reveal their own location instead of the geotagging of the photo.
There was only one person that was good enough, was talented enough, to do something so elaborate and user transparent, and it was someone they couldn’t beat and they knew it.
If the employer would have told them they would be trying to outsmart William Lee, they would have laughed in their faces and kept their dignity by turning down the offer.
No one crossed William Lee and made it out in one piece.
His personal code of ethics you didn’t break, because when you did, you were marked and would experience his unusual form of punishment immediately, as would all those that knew and loved you.
One of the computers beeped before the monitors flashes then pulled up a blue screen.
“Uh oh,” the young man said, pushing away from the desk.
Two of the three remaining computers did the same.
Ryo stopped and her eyes widened when the wall of pictures was replaced by the face of an annoyed man.
“Tsk. Tsk. Tsk,” Will scolded. “The Four Horseman and the Devil’s puppet. Why am I not surprised?”
“We didn’t know,” the Horseman said in unison, backing away from their workstations.
Will shook his head, disappointed. “When money is good, you should know it’s a trap,” he reminded them.
They nodded.
“Hindsight is always twenty-twenty,” he continued. “You might want to run because if our little friend’s employer hears of this, and you’re still around, your bodies will wash up in the Pacific.”
They didn’t need to be told twice.
The four ran from the office, leaving Ryo standing there confused as to what just happened and why.
Will smiled. “You must be new,” he said. “Amano Ryoko, but you go by Ryo. Only child, disappointment to your father because you were a girl, and yet you still went out of your way to bring honor to the family by following in his footsteps. Admirable. Foolish, but admirable.”
Ryo glared at him.
“You are only doing what your Master requested of you,” Will continued, “and that is why you will get a warning. Leave Kita Yasuhiro and all those of this family and friends alone. The Devil you work for will kill you painfully, hopefully quickly, but painfully none the less for failing her. She knew you weren’t able to beat me, no one is. Like a bored child she pulled your string and you danced for her.”
“Watch what you say about my Master,” Ryo warned.
“I say what you are just now realizing, Amano Ryoko,” Will retorted. “You are nothing more than the play toy of a sadistic demon will never be happy regardless of what you do or if you succeed or not in her little assignments she gives you.
