Chapter 105 Blade of Ashes (Part 1)
Although the members of Devouring Serpents admired Eric, they felt that taking down this Boss was impossible. What if the whole team got wiped out?
Nevertheless, Isabella had already consented and was willing to take the risk. Even if everyone lost 10% of their experience points and some skill proficiency and fell behind other guilds in level, she would take responsibility.
It might seem that 10% of the experience points were little, but at level 6, gaining 10% experience required at least two to three hours of effort. Isabella's decision, if it led to a total wipeout, would be a significant loss for the team, showing her trust in Eric.
The members of Devouring Serpents exchanged glances, realizing they had been too timid.
They had been prioritizing safety for an extended period, constantly focused on minimizing deaths to perform better within the guild. In doing so, they had forgotten the most vital aspect of playing virtual games.
That was the thrill of adventure, which was why many people play virtual games.
They had already gained enough; as Eric said, so what if they died?
"Eric, just tell me what to do, and I'll make sure to do it," Shield Warrior Phantom Slayer said, looking at Eric and patting his chest.
"Eric, go ahead."
"Yeah, you go ahead."
The members of Devouring Serpents all looked at Eric. They had made up their minds; losses were losses, but if they succeeded, unimaginable glory awaited them.
"Since everyone agrees, let me explain. After the pull, only Ms. Collins, two MTs, and I will fight the Kobold King. All melee classes should stay away. Berserkers will charge on my command; Assassins will apply to bleed to the Boss and then retreat immediately, using crossbows to attack. All ranged classes should go all out but maintain a distance of over 75 feet. The two Priests and the Druid will focus on healing the MTs, and the Oracle will heal me and Ms. Collins," Eric commenced explaining the strategy, providing a detailed breakdown of the coordinated attack switching method to Isabella and the rest of the group.
Switching attack modes was a technique for defeating stronger opponents, specifically designed to tackle Bosses.
Some experts discovered this combat method within a month of the launch of Divine Realms: Legends. They used it in practical dungeon Boss fights with remarkable results, taking down previously undefeatable Bosses. The method quickly spread, and within two months, nearly all elite melee players in guild dungeon teams had learned it.
If they wanted to challenge the Lord-level Kobold King now, they had no choice but to employ this method; otherwise, they would die repeatedly without any exceptions.
After explaining everything, everyone entered the tomb hall. The Kobold King, clad in dark blue armor, stood silently in the center.
"Cola, pull the Boss and watch your positioning. We'll leave the Kobold King to the ranged classes. Then you and I will coordinate, Phantom Slayer will take over, and you will coordinate with Ms. Collins. Once aggro is secured, all ranged classes can start attacking..." Eric drew his dual swords and issued commands methodically.
"Leave it to me." Cola seemed a bit nervous, but after some time under Eric's guidance, he began to show the potential of a top player.
Once everyone was in position, the bear-like Cola charged directly at the Kobold King. Before he even got halfway, and before the Kobold King became aware, a Holiness Shield flew out like a meteor, smashing toward the Kobold King.
Just as the flying shield was about to hit the Kobold King, it suddenly opened its blood-red eyes, grinned malevolently, and swung its greatsword to deflect the shield, causing no damage.
Before anyone could fully comprehend the Kobold King's abilities, it took a colossal stride forward, materializing in front of Cola in the blink of an eye, and swiftly swung its sword downward.
Cola blocked the sword with his shield, taking over 400 damage. However, with his other hand, he gripped his short sword tightly, shouted, and swung it at the side of the dark greatsword.
The Kobold King's sword strike was deflected due to Cola's blow, hitting the ground and disrupting the Kobold King's combat rhythm.
"Nicely done!" Eric appeared behind Cola, slashing with Crimson Edge and embedding it deeper into the greatsword. At the same time, Abyssal Blade used Slash, a black flash stabbing into the Kobold King's neck.
This time, Eric finally dealt damage to the Kobold King, causing 193 points of damage.
Before Eric could pull out his sword, the Kobold King released its grip on the greatsword with one hand and punched.
"Switch!" Eric shouted.
Phantom Slayer, who had been waiting, slashed at the Kobold King's arm, causing it to stagger back two steps and take over 200 damage. However, the Kobold King also leaned back, nearly making Phantom Slayer lose his balance.
Isabella then swiftly lunged forward, her Inferno Spirit Greatsword transforming into a flaming sword, slashing at the gaps in the Kobold King's armor, dealing 132 damage.
The Kobold King regained its footing and swung its greatsword in a horizontal sweep.
However, Cola stepped in first, blocking the sweep and preventing any damage to the others, though he took 560 damage. Fortunately, with the combined efforts of three healers working in unison, Cola's health was quickly restored.
Eric and Isabella continued their coordinated attacks, with Cola and Phantom Slayer tanking the damage and the healers constantly healing, gradually whittling down the Kobold King's health.
After several coordinated attacks, Isabella was astonished. She hadn't realized there was such a method to fight a Boss, nor did she know how Eric had come up with it.
But what shocked everyone more was the damage Eric dealt, which was simply astounding.
A Thunderbolt dealt nearly 700 total damage, an Earthshatter Strike over 400, and even regular attacks dealt over 100 damage. In contrast, Isabella, with her Dark Iron Level Outfit and Mithril Level greatsword, could only deal around 240 damage with her best skills, making them wonder who the real Berserker was.
What they didn't know was that Eric wielded a Demonic Weapon, wore a Silver Moon set, and had level 4 or 5 damage skills, making his damage output naturally exaggerated.
"Ranged classes can start attacking now," Eric shouted in the team chat, feeling that the aggro was stable.
The others snapped out of their daze, and the spellcasters began chanting spells, sending fireballs and Shadow Bolts flying, while Rangers shot arrows, dealing a series of damages to the Kobold King. The highest damage was from Scarlet's Inferno Burst, followed by Tonny's level 5 Shadow Bolt, which dealt over 80 damage, while the others dealt 40 to 50 damage.
Under Eric's command and continuous, coordinated attacks, the Kobold King was left helpless, its health steadily decreasing, unable to unleash its full power, and always on the defensive.
After more than ten minutes of continuous attacks, the Kobold King's health dropped to 30%, entering a berserk state. Its body gradually expanded in size, and its muscles started bulging.
"Once it goes berserk, it shouldn't last long. Ranged classes, stop all attacks. MTs, prepare your survival skills and run. Remember to keep the Boss's aggro before running. Everyone else, stay away from the Boss. Warriors, wait for my command to charge. Spellcasters with control skills, get ready." Seeing the Kobold King go berserk, Eric shouted and immediately distanced himself from the Kobold King.
A Lord-level berserk state was no joke. If not handled properly, it could lead to a total wipeout.
Now, whether the team could take down the Kobold King depended on whether the two MTs could survive.
