Chapter 39 Sagestone

Departing from Dark Moon Valley, Eric activated Gravity Liberation to save time and sprinted towards Crimson Waters Lake in the southeast.

On the way, players heading to Dark Moon Valley saw Eric speeding by like a Stormblade, moving so fast that his figure was a blur.

"Who is that guy? Which Assassin is that fast?"

"No, look at his waist; he's carrying a sword, not a dagger. He must be a Swordsman."

"Damn, are Swordsmen that badass now? There is an online rumor circulating that the mayor of Willowbrook Town was slain by an enigmatic Swordsman, and another formidable Swordsman in Silent Grove Dungeon has been invited by the Ice Goddess. If I had known, I would have played a Swordsman, too."

"Do you think it might actually be the same person?"

"No way, I saw the Swordsman who killed the mayor with my own eyes. That guy was tall and built like a bear, with arms thicker than our thighs. He single-handedly took down a level 15 mayor."

Passing players looked on as Eric departed, sparking discussions and a profound sense of speechlessness towards the Swordsman profession. They regretted not choosing to play as a Swordsman, considering its incredible power. However, they believed it was now too late to switch professions.

If Eric knew, he would probably just laugh it off. In Divine Realms: Legends, there was no most robust class, only the most robust player.

He sprinted across the vast plains for over two hours, activating Gravity Liberation more than ten times to escape high-level monsters.  Eric crossed the level 6 Hyena Warrens Ruins and the level 8 Aurora Keep before arriving at the level 10 area, Crimson Waters Lake.

Crimson Waters Lake is a haven for level 10 Water Elementals and Tiny Murlocs. From a higher vantage point, Eric could see groups of Tiny Murlocs patrolling around, and the closer he got to Crimson Waters Lake, the more numerous they became.. The center of Crimson Waters Lake was the nest of the Tiny Murlocs, and the lake itself housed the pesky Water Elementals.

Crimson Waters Lake had a high concentration of monsters and the Tiny Murlocs had a nasty curse skill that could absorb player attributes and convert them to their own, making them more robust as the fight went on, it was a tough place to level up. Moreover, there were no quests here, so in his previous life, very few players were willing to come here to level up.

However, Eric had no choice but to delve into Crimson Waters Lake.

The metal box dropped by Akh'Zamaru was extremely precious. If Akh'Zamaru knew, it would probably be furious because the box contained a treasure map, and the treasure was hidden in Crimson Waters Lake.

Eric had played Divine Realms: Legends for ten years and had a deep understanding of its history.

He never expected Akh'Zamaru to have this treasure map, which recorded a huge secret. Nine hundred years ago, the alchemy master Morodo created something after much effort. Because of this item, wars broke out among the foremost nations in Divine Realms: Legends, with over ten heroes vying for it. However, the item eventually disappeared, becoming one of the game's unsolved mysteries.

The treasure map in Eric's hand recorded the location of this item.

This item was the Sagestone, an alchemical relic

If an alchemist obtained the Sagestone, he would have the power to turn stone into gold, amass infinite wealth, and even resurrect the dead, breaking the fundamental principle of equivalent exchange in alchemy.

Who would have thought that this relic would be hidden in the unremarkable Crimson Waters Lake?

However, Crimson Waters Lake was very dangerous for Eric at his current level. The level difference of 8 levels meant that Eric was no match for the level 10 monsters, especially the attribute-stealing Tiny Murlocs.

But Eric had to take the risk. The sooner he got the Sagestone, the sooner he could be at ease. If he waited until he was level seven or eight, someone else might have taken the Sagestone by then, and he would have nowhere to cry.

He took out the metal box from his backpack, carefully removed the treasure map, and began to study it closely.

The treasure map clearly marked the location of the Sagestone, right beneath the Tiny Murloc's nest. However, figuring out how to navigate around these Tiny Murlocs posed a problem, while also needing to deal with the Water Elemental issue at the same time. Although Water Elementals had low health, they were immune to 60% of physical attacks and had slowing skills, making them a headache for melee fighters.

After observing for half an hour, Eric noticed that the Tiny Murlocs did not patrol constantly; they would rest for a while. Moreover, the Tiny Murlocs only patrolled the shore and rarely went into the water. Once in the water, their movement speed would decrease by 60%, giving Eric a chance to dive into the lake, where the Tiny Murlocs couldn't catch him.

As for the Water Elementals underwater, he could use Phantom Slay to create a decoy to draw them away, allowing him to enter the cave beneath the Tiny Murloc nest alone.

If any part of this plan went wrong, Eric would surely die, and dying once would be a significant loss. However, with his rebirth advantage, he could quickly make up for the lost experience, though dying and running back would be very time-consuming.

"Ten seconds left." Eric calculated the timing in his mind as he watched the patrolling Tiny Murlocs.

As time ticked by, a group of patrolling Tiny Murlocs looked around, found nothing unusual, and walked into a small wooden hut by the lake to rest, leaving a clear path by the shore.

Eric suddenly sprinted to the shore.

Seeing that he was only about 90 feet from the water, another patrol of Tiny Murlocs spotted Eric and sounded the alarm, rushing towards him with short knives.

Facing four level 10 Tiny Murlocs, Eric knew he had no chance in a fight. His only hope was to jump into the water.

However, the Tiny Murlocs were incredibly fast and quickly closed in on Eric, swinging their short knives at his back.

Knowing he couldn't outrun the Tiny Murlocs, Eric turned around, used Abyssal Bind to restrain one, and dodged another with Abyssal Blade, blocking the remaining Tiny Murlocs. Using the Tiny Murlocs' momentum, he pulled away by about 9 feet, activated Gravity Liberation, and leaped into the lake.

But the other Tiny Murlocs quickly followed, jumping into the water.

The four Tiny Murlocs fell into the water while Eric ran on the surface.

Walking on water required an agility of 80 points, but with the Ring of Gravity, Eric's body was nearly weightless. With over 30 points in agility, he could walk on water without being slowed down.

Before long, Eric managed to shake off the relentless pursuit of the Tiny Murlocs and made his way to a spot near the Tiny Murloc's nest, where he discreetly submerged himself in the water.

As soon as he entered the water, he saw a large number of Water Elementals circling a big underwater cave, seemingly guarding something.

Water Elemental, normal monster, level 10, HP 750/750.

Eric used Phantom Slay, sending a decoy to lure the Water Elementals away.

As planned, a group of Water Elementals spotted the decoy and swam towards it. The decoy turned and floated upwards. While Water Elementals were fast in water, they were slow on land, the opposite of Tiny Murlocs.

Seeing the decoy draw the Water Elementals away from the cave entrance, Eric quickly swam toward it.

Before he could reach the cave entrance, the system notified him that his decoy had been destroyed, buying him only about 20 seconds.

The Water Elementals, having defeated the decoy, noticed the intruder and hurried back to the cave entrance.

Upon spotting Eric, the Water Elementals increased their speed and rushed towards him.
