Chapter 86 The Mechanical Legion
Isabella watched Eric's back, biting her lip slightly. As she pondered upon the terrifying damage and exceptional combat skills he had just demonstrated, she suddenly found Eric even more enigmatic.
She knew all the top players in the virtual game, but she had never heard of a top player like Black Flame.
Her equipment was already top-notch among current players, and both of them were level 5. The damage difference was so vast. Just how good was Eric's gear? Could he be wearing a full set of level 5 Dark Iron Level Outfit?
Isabella didn't know that Eric was wearing the Silver Moon set, the best set for Swordsmen below level 10, which had much better attributes than the level 5 Dark Iron Level Outfit. Coupled with a Demonic Weapon and a Mithril Level Weapon, and the effect of the Demonic Weapon, his damage, unaffected by level suppression, was naturally exceptionally high. Along the way, there were more and more Avian Sentinels in the forest. Even when the team faced more than a dozen Avian Sentinels at once, with Eric's terrifying damage and the Shield Warrior's steady tanking, Isabella and the others became more adept at handling them, quickly eliminating these Avian Sentinels.
The current leveling efficiency was much faster than Isabella's team had previously experienced.
Half an hour later, Eric and the others finally arrived at the Abyss of Ruin.
The Abyss of Ruin was actually a giant pit filled with stone caves. If players entered the caves, they could easily get lost.
"Black Flame, is this the location where you need to fulfill your task?" Scarlet approached Eric, brushed her hair aside, and asked softly.
Eric felt a stir in his heart as the seductive Scarlet came so close, revealing a deep cleavage in her red robe. It was impossible for him to have no thoughts at all, even if he had no evil intentions. However, it posed a challenge for him to maintain a composed demeanor.."Just follow this path, and you'll get there. But there are many Avian Sentinels circling overhead, making it difficult to pass." Eric deliberately looked away and pointed to the path leading to the pit called Horizon's Edge.
This time, Eric's reminder made the Shield Warrior and Ranger more respectful rather than dismissive. They vigilantly watched the Avian Sentinels in the sky. Thanks to Eric, they would have died halfway without him.
Observing Eric take the lead on the path to Horizon's Edge,, Scarlet smiled slightly. She felt a familiar sensation when looking at Eric, something she had never encountered before, and she followed closely behind.
Isabella smiled knowingly at this. She understood Scarlet's thoughts. It was rare for Scarlet to show such interest in a man. If Scarlet could captivate Eric and bring him into the Devouring Serpents, it would be great.
Despite the numerous Avian Sentinels in Horizon's Edge, Isabella's team grew increasingly skillful at handling them.
Isabella, in particular, was a genius. After watching Eric's combat style a few times, she had learned to jump back and forth along the rock walls, striking down Avian Sentinels from mid-air and dodging their claw attacks and strikes. Even without Eric's help, Isabella's team could clear out these Avian Sentinels.
After killing hundreds of Avian Sentinels, a golden light flashed around Eric, and he finally reached level 6, catching up with the leveling fanatics.
Eric had distributed all of his available attribute points to agility in order to equip the Cloak of the Shadowhunter at the earliest opportunity. If he could upgrade the Abyssal Blade to level 5, he might be able to wear the Cloak of the Shadowhunter at level 8.
"Have you reached level 6 already?" Isabella looked over in surprise. She hadn't expected Eric to level up so quickly. Despite constantly killing monsters to level up, she was still 23% away from level 6, yet Eric had managed to reach level 6 despite doing so many things. But considering Eric's ability to easily kill higher-level monsters, it was no wonder he leveled up so fast.
"Is this the place you need to go? There are so many monsters, including quite a few level 9 elites and level 10 special elites. Are you sure you want to go in?" Isabella reached the depths of the pit and saw Mechanical Marionettes roaming everywhere. She didn't understand what kind of task Eric had taken on that was so difficult. Even though Eric was powerful, entering seemed impossible.
Mechanical Marionettes were human-sized ordinary monsters, level 9, with 1500 health points.
Mechanical Warriors were twice as large, wielding swords and shields, elite monsters, level 9, with 3000 health points.
Mechanical Knights were the most terrifying, riding mechanical horses and wielding long spears, standing over 20 feet tall like a two-story building, special elites, level 10, with 7000 health points.
Inside the pit, there was a tightly closed steel door guarded by an overwhelming number of Mechanical Marionettes and Mechanical Warriors. Isabella estimated there were over eight hundred of them and over a hundred Mechanical Knights guarding the steel door. Clearing these Mechanical Knights would require an elite team of a thousand players. The sheer number of mechanical monsters was daunting. Even from 300 feet away, Scarlet and the others were already intimidated.
If this mechanical army charged at them, they would be unbeatable and could wipe them out in an instant.
"Black Flame, are you really going in? It's certain death." Although Scarlet had confidence in the strength of their team, clearing the outer ranks of Mechanical Marionettes and Mechanical Warriors would already prove to be quite challenging with their level 5 abilities, not to mention the formidable task of facing the Mechanical Knights. One Mechanical Knight could probably wipe them out, let alone a hundred.
"I have to go in, but we need to clear out those Mechanical Marionettes and Mechanical Warriors first." Eric nodded.
"Then let's lure them over one by one and kill them slowly." Isabella had already promised to help Eric, so she wouldn't back down now. Plus, leveling up here was quite good. They had gained a lot of Common Level equipment and materials from killing so many Avian Sentinels. Clearing out these Mechanical Warriors should yield even more rewards. She just wasn't sure how strong the Mechanical Warriors were.
"I'll lure them over one by one." Scarlet volunteered. Luring monsters from a distance was the easiest, and with her skills, she could lure at most two or three at a time, making it easier for the team to clear them.
"Wait." Eric suddenly stopped Scarlet.
"What's the problem?" Scarlet asked.
The others also looked at Eric in confusion. Did Eric not trust Scarlet's skills?
Eric knew the difficulty here, but Scarlet and the others didn't. These mechanical monsters were war machines created by dwarf civilization. If they lured monsters without knowing this, they would be wiped out.
"Mechanical monsters can be highly elusive, boasting a vast alert range, and their defense and attack capabilities are formidable. If you lure one, you'll attract at least a dozen. With level suppression, we can't handle that many. I have another plan. Who here has a movement speed over 14?""My movement speed is 17, and Sammy's is 14." Isabella didn't understand why Eric was asking this, but she answered anyway.
"You and Sammy use speed scrolls to lure all the outer mechanical monsters to one spot. I'll take care of the rest." Eric took out two-speed scrolls. With these, the mechanical monsters couldn't catch up to the two of them.
Having spent some time together, Isabella knew Eric wouldn't speak without reason. So, they used the speed scrolls and started luring monsters from both sides.
