Chapter 410 Unpredictable Star Sorcerer
"What's up with SpiritSnake?" Jake glanced at the system clock. "Isn't he two levels higher than that female Priest?"
SpiritSnake had been immobilized for 3.5 seconds, but he was still stuck, while Violet Mistflow had already broken free.
This turn of events completely shattered Jake's understanding of Divine Realms: Legends.
Not just Jake, even Scarlet, who thought she had lost, was wide-eyed and stunned, unable to snap out of it.
Isabella watched the battle in the arena, her eyes filled with confusion.
This was beyond reason.
Only Eric knew that SpiritSnake had fallen into a trap.
Compared to level suppression, tier suppression was way more severe. It's like comparing a punch from a baby to one from an adult—their strength isn't even in the same league.
Because Violet Mistflow was a first-tier class, even with a 10-level difference, her restriction skills on zero-tier classes could be 100% effective. Conversely, even if a zero-tier class was 10 levels higher, their restriction skills on first-tier classes would be weakened by 30% or more.
The gap between tiers was that brutal.
That's why high-tier players were so valuable and overwhelmingly powerful.
While the audience was still trying to figure out what was happening, SpiritSnake was sealed by a pitch-black barrier, like being trapped in a giant coffin.
This move left everyone in the arena, except Eric, in awe.
No one knew how powerful the Black Coffin was or what made it special, but everyone present was a skilled player. They could feel the soul-chilling terror emanating from the dark barrier, as if the Black Coffin was a beast that devoured everything. Being trapped inside meant certain death.
As soon as SpiritSnake was sealed, Violet Mistflow distanced herself.
Three seconds later, the Black Coffin began to dissipate, and Violet Mistflow had already moved nearly 20 yards away. Even if SpiritSnake wanted to counterattack, it would be extremely difficult at that distance.
"What the heck? Why didn't I take any damage?" SpiritSnake emerged from the Black Coffin, thinking he was doomed. After all, a high-level spell that took a full second to cast must be incredibly powerful. But now, he hadn't taken any damage—it was all bark and no bite. "Could it be that my higher level triggered a rare magic immunity? Or is this just a restriction spell?"
SpiritSnake relaxed and focused on Violet Mistflow in the distance.
Although the 20-yard gap was disadvantageous, he had several ways to close it.
Violet Mistflow waved her staff, and Holy Judgments rained down from the sky, targeting SpiritSnake's position.
SpiritSnake smirked disdainfully and easily dodged the Holy Judgments, charging towards Violet Mistflow.
But then SpiritSnake noticed something was wrong—he started losing health. He lost 500 HP twice in quick succession. With a total of just over 3100 HP, he was down to 2100 HP.
"I didn't get hit." SpiritSnake was 100% sure he had dodged the Holy Judgments.
Before he could figure it out, Violet Mistflow attacked again with more Holy Judgments.
SpiritSnake dodged again, but this time he only lost 500 HP.
Violet Mistflow attacked once more, and SpiritSnake knew he couldn't keep losing health. He used his dagger to block the Holy Judgments, and this time he didn't take any damage.
"Figured it out yet?" Violet Mistflow said with a sly smile.
The Star Sorcerer class had very few high-damage spells. Most of its attacks were strange and varied, something Violet Mistflow had discovered after extensive research. Even now, she hadn't fully mastered the essence of Star Sorcerer combat.
The Black Coffin spell was one such example. Any player hit by it would lose health whenever they moved, with the amount of health lost depending on the caster's intelligence. It also had a magic restriction effect, making it particularly effective against melee classes.
SpiritSnake roughly understood what was happening. Realizing he couldn't move or use skills, his face turned grim.
The audience was also amazed.
"That move is incredible. No wonder Violet Mistflow used it. SpiritSnake is done for. His health will drop to zero before he can reach Violet Mistflow," Scarlet exclaimed.
"It's impressive, but it has a clear weakness," Eric said with a knowing smile.
"Weakness?" Scarlet thought for a moment and her excitement turned cold.
If moving caused health loss, then not moving would solve the problem. With SpiritSnake's skills, he could block all of the Priest's attacks, unless it was someone like her, an Elementalist.
And since it was a magical effect, it must have a duration. Once the duration ended, SpiritSnake could move freely.
Scarlet could figure it out, and so could SpiritSnake. So SpiritSnake stood still, waiting for the effect to wear off.
But seeing SpiritSnake's actions, Eric laughed.
Giving a spellcaster so much time, was that really a good idea?
"Stalling for time?" Violet Mistflow smiled faintly, then moved another 30 yards away, standing still and chanting, waving her staff.
Compared to the high-level Black Coffin spell, the magic Violet Mistflow was now using took much less time to cast and wasn't a high-level spell.
Although SpiritSnake tried to attack with thrown weapons, Violet Mistflow was prepared. A Holy Word Shield absorbed much of the damage, and her agile movements easily blocked all of SpiritSnake's attacks. Assassins weren't ranged fighters, after all.
SpiritSnake could only watch helplessly, unable to use his skills.
After finishing her spell, Violet Mistflow pointed at SpiritSnake from 30 yards away.
SpiritSnake felt a powerful force pulling him towards Violet Mistflow. Despite his efforts to resist, he was inexorably drawn closer, faster and faster.
Eventually, SpiritSnake was right in front of Violet Mistflow, losing 500 HP chunks rapidly. His health plummeted.
SpiritSnake knew it was over. The 30-yard distance was enough to drain all his remaining 2100 HP.
"All or nothing!"
SpiritSnake's eyes flashed with desperation. At this close range, his dagger could reach Violet Mistflow.
In an instant, SpiritSnake gripped his dagger tightly and slashed seven or eight times, aiming at Violet Mistflow.
But Violet Mistflow seemed unfazed, flicking her finger.
SpiritSnake's dagger stopped mid-swing, a powerful force pressing down on him. His daggers halted just ten inches from Violet Mistflow, unable to move further.
Then SpiritSnake was flung 20 yards away, crashing into the arena wall, coughing up blood, dead beyond doubt.
The fifth match winner: Violet Mistflow!
