Chapter 46 Encountering an Acquaintance
As everyone was congratulating Bob, his eyes swept to the corner where Eric was standing, and there was a hint of dissatisfaction in his gaze.
He was the pride of the class, a future star, and yet this underachiever didn't even come up to offer his compliments.
After a round of flattery, Bob finally let everyone return to their seats.
"Thank you all for your encouragement. Please quiet down; I have something to say today," Bob said.
Hearing Bob's words, everyone listened attentively, except for Eric, who wasn't interested in what Bob had to say.
However, as Bob began to speak, Eric couldn't help but pay close attention.
"It's about the school's recommendation quota," Bob said flatly. "As you all are aware, my passion lies in martial arts, and my academic performance hasn't been ideal, which has posed a challenge for securing a recommendation.. So, I'd like to ask everyone to give up a spot. The school has agreed to this, so I want to discuss it with you all."
"Bob, this is nothing. You've brought glory to the class. It's just a recommendation spot. If Bob says the word, the class will definitely give it up," a subservient boy said with a smile.
Although everyone nodded in agreement, no one stood up to voluntarily give up their recommendation spot.
After all, finding a job was tough, and big companies valued this recommendation more than a degree. If they gave it to someone else, what would they do in the future?
As for those who never had a chance at the recommendation in the first place, they naturally didn't care. They kept encouraging others, acting all high and mighty.
Bob saw no one volunteering, and his face darkened.
"With everyone showing such enthusiasm, it becomes difficult for me to make a choice. How about we do a hand vote?" Bob said with a smile.
"That's a good idea. Bob is always so clever."
"Let's start counting the votes."
Everyone stood up, grinning with schadenfreude.
Sitting in the corner, Eric finally realized what was happening.
Damn, so Bob was the one who took his recommendation spot.
A surge of anger welled up in Eric's heart. In his previous life, he had been a fool for collaborating with Bob, but this time around, he wouldn't make the same mistake. If Bob wanted to mess with him, he wouldn't hold back.
Maybe it was a continuation of his previous life, but the class's voting results didn't change at all, and Eric was put on the "throne."
"Eric, you're so lucky. I'm a bit jealous."
"Now, Eric, you have Bob backing you. You should thank us."
The class congratulated Eric as if he had won a five-million-dollar lottery.
"Eric, thank you so much. After school today, I'll treat you to a drink at the Maple Leaf Lounge," Bob said with a forced smile, not taking Eric seriously at all. His words were filled with disdain rather than gratitude. Then he turned to the others and said, "Of course, I'll treat everyone. Let's have a good time today."
"Wait a minute," Eric suddenly said.
Immediately, everyone's eyes turned to Eric. If Eric hadn't spoken up, they might have forgotten about him.
"Is there something you'd like to say, Eric?" Bob asked, smiling.
"I didn't agree to this. What are you so happy about?" Eric glanced at Bob. "If anyone wants to give up their recommendation spot, let them do it. But I won't. If you have nothing else, I'm leaving."
The classroom fell into dead silence. No one expected Eric, who was often bullied by other classes, to stand up to Bob. His behavior was too unusual. Wasn't Eric afraid of Bob?
Bob was stunned, not by Eric's actions but by his stupidity.
Did Eric really think that rejecting would help him keep his recommendation spot?
This was the result of the class vote. Even if Eric refused, it wouldn't change anything. The school would still give him the recommendation spot. Knowing the outcome wouldn't change, Eric foolishly chose to oppose him.
Was Eric stupid or naive?
Just as Bob was about to make a move, an impatient voice came from outside the door.
"Is Bob done yet? Lucas doesn't like to wait."
A tall, burly young man with blonde hair walked in, followed by a sexy girl in a short dress, making the boys in the class envious.
Eric glanced over and saw that it was a "familiar face."
The tall, burly young man was Blazeclaw, real name David Lopez, also a senior. He was skilled in martial arts and had placed third in the university's martial arts competition. The seductive girl beside him was Jennie Evans, also a former classmate and the class beauty in high school.
Back then, he had foolishly fallen for Jennie and confessed to her, only to be rejected. After enrolling in university, Jennie became David's girlfriend. Jennie even told David about his confession, making David dislike him. This led to him being bullied by other students for four years and assigned tedious tasks at ShadowForge Studios, slowing his progress in Divine Realms: Legends.
"Blazeclaw, why are you here? I'll be done in a minute," Bob said, greeting him with a smile and showing great respect.
"How much longer? I don't have much time," David said impatiently, having been demoted from his captain position because of Kai Blackthorn and berated by Lucas Hill. He was in a foul mood.
"Two or three minutes," Bob said, considering that teaching Eric a lesson wasn't a big deal.
"Fine, hurry up," David said.
Jennie inadvertently saw Eric, and her expression turned sour. She had no good impression of Eric. He was poor and weak, offering no sense of security or strength, and dared to confess to her, which she saw as an insult. Because of Eric, she had been ridiculed by other girls.
Seeing Jennie's disgust towards Eric, David hooked her chin with his rough hand and teased, "Honey, I'll deal with him now so he won't bother you again."
Jennie smiled and nodded, not stopping him.
"You, come here," David said, pointing at Eric.
Everyone was scared by David's presence. He secured third place in the school's martial arts competition, making him much stronger than Bob, who placed ninth. One punch from him could land someone in the hospital for half a month.
Bob understood this well. David Lopez didn't like Eric and wanted to deal with him. Bob also wanted to teach Eric a lesson to show his strength to the class. If he did it now, he would not only help himself but also gain favor with David Lopez. It was a win-win situation, so why not? Bob stepped forward and volunteered. "Blazeclaw, there's no need for you to do it yourself. Regardless, I had already planned to teach this kid a lesson.Give me thirty seconds."
"So this is what you were talking about," David said disdainfully, looking at Eric and licking his lips. "Let me do it. I need to loosen up a bit."
With that, David walked towards Eric with a cold smile.
