Chapter 344 Unmatched
Although Eric was a survival expert, facing a level 50 elite Overlord was a whole different ball game. The power gap was just too huge.
"Guess I gotta use it now," Eric muttered, reluctantly pulling a Frostbite Grenade from his backpack.
As soon as Eric revealed the Frostbite Grenade, the massive Mechanical Slaughterer froze in its tracks, its glowing red eyes locked onto the grenade in Eric's hand.
The Mechanical Slaughterer remembered the Frostbite Grenade well. Eric had used it before to freeze the Slaughterer for a long time, making it unable to fight back.
"Haha, it remembers," Eric chuckled at the Mechanical Slaughterer's reaction.
But Eric knew the Frostbite Grenade wouldn't keep the Mechanical Slaughterer at bay for long. Taking advantage of the Slaughterer's brief hesitation, Eric sprinted towards the spellcasters of the Darkstar Guild.
"Shit, he's coming! All spellcasters, hit him with everything you've got! Don't let him get close!" RogueVortex shouted urgently.
A barrage of magical attacks followed.
Ice Arrows, Frost Balls, Frost Barriers, Mind Shackles—every control skill was unleashed.
Behind Eric, the Mechanical Slaughterer snapped out of its daze and hurled its massive serrated sword at him.
The sword flew with a deafening roar, slicing through the air at a speed that made it impossible to dodge.
On one side, there were the players' magical attacks; on the other, the Slaughterer's flying sword.
Eric couldn't afford to be careless. He immediately used Phantom Slay, creating a clone 10 yards away from his original position. Just as the serrated sword was about to pierce him, he used Replace, swapping places with the clone.
The clone stood no chance against the sword and was obliterated instantly.
But the sword didn't stop; it continued towards the spellcasters of the Darkstar Guild.
Before they could react, the sword landed among them, creating a massive crater in the teleportation hall's floor. Shockwaves spread out, wiping out every player within a 30-yard radius, showcasing the terrifying power of the elite Overlord.
SwordShadow and Turtledove, who had been hiding in a corner, were stunned.
"SwordShadow, are all elite Overlords this strong?" Turtledove asked, shaken by the Slaughterer's destructive power.
"From what I know, none of them are this powerful. Looks like President BlackFlame was right to tell us to retreat early," SwordShadow replied, looking at Eric with a hint of admiration.
Despite the Slaughterer's terrifying strength, wielding such power required exceptional skill, especially in controlling the environment and executing precise dodges—skills SwordShadow aspired to learn.
"If I can join the Guild of Aether Wing, maybe I can learn more techniques from him," SwordShadow thought, determined to pass the upcoming recruitment.
While SwordShadow and Turtledove were impressed, RogueVortex was furious.
The Mechanical Slaughterer's attack had wiped out over a hundred elite members of the Darkstar Guild.
"Damn BlackFlame! Are the reinforcements here yet?" RogueVortex roared.
"President, the nearest guild members, about four thousand strong, are on their way. Given a bit more time, we can gather over ten thousand," a subordinate reported.
"Good. Everyone, stall for time. Also, keep an eye on the Guild of Aether Wing. They won't stay silent after such a big incident," RogueVortex ordered, grinning with satisfaction.
Once everyone arrived, both BlackFlame and the Mechanical Slaughterer would be his.
Meanwhile, the Darkstar Guild and other guild members were running around the hall. Whenever Eric appeared, they scattered, turning the battle into a game of cat and mouse.
As Eric used the Frostbite Grenade to keep the Mechanical Slaughterer at bay and leveraged its power to kill members of the Darkstar Guild and other guilds, the 150-level guards of Silvervale City finally arrived at the teleportation hall.
Over a hundred guards, including second-tier captains and numerous first-tier squad leaders, surrounded the hall in an orderly fashion.
"The guards are here! We're saved!"
Seeing the guards, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Eric had killed many of them using the Slaughterer's power, and they had barely survived by dodging.
"Perfect timing. BlackFlame, your arrogance ends now. With the guards here to distract the monster, we'll draw its aggro. When my reinforcements arrive, you're finished," RogueVortex sneered at Eric.
But Eric also smiled and ran towards the hall's exit without hesitation.
The hundred guards, led by the second-tier captain, began attacking the Mechanical Slaughterer.
The NPC guards were all level 150, with regular guards having 800,000 health, squad leaders 1.6 million, and the second-tier captain a whopping 2.4 million. To players, they were invincible, capable of one-shotting level 50 players. In their eyes, a level 50 monster stood no chance, even with 40 million health.
But the elite Overlord was different.
The guards' attacks barely scratched the Mechanical Slaughterer, with the highest damage being around 1,000 points. Even the first-tier squad leaders only managed 3,000 points, and the second-tier captain's strongest hit was about 10,000 points.
Against the Slaughterer's 40 million health, it was negligible.
As RogueVortex predicted, the Slaughterer's main aggro shifted to the second-tier captain. The Slaughterer swung its serrated sword, and despite the captain's quick block, the impact sent him flying into the wall.
The Slaughterer continued its assault, creating a storm that swept through the hall. The guards attacked furiously, but within moments, the hall was unrecognizable.
The 150-level guards lay dead, including the squad leaders and the second-tier captain, while the Slaughterer still had 91% of its health.
"What kind of monster is this?" RogueVortex couldn't believe his eyes. The supposedly invincible guards were all dead, and the Slaughterer remained healthy.
Eric, sitting on the rooftop, was resting and recovering. Dodging the Slaughterer's attacks had drained his energy and stamina, and he had hoped for a longer break.
"An elite Overlord mutation is truly terrifying. Now I can proceed with my plan," Eric thought, smiling as he watched the thousands of players approaching from a distance.
