Chapter 47 I'm Rooting for You

David stormed towards Eric, ready to teach him a lesson.

Previously, he had others deal with Eric, but Eric never learned. Today, David was determined to make a lasting impression.

Everyone present could already see Eric's fate.

In a society where fitness was a priority, it was customary for students to spar. Even getting injured was no big deal as long as it wasn't too severe.

However, based on David's stance, it was highly probable that Eric would end up hospitalized for at least a month. By then, Eric would have to receive his diploma on stage in a cast.

"Hold on, David! This is our class. Who are you to come here and bully one of our own?" Katherine's frail figure suddenly stood in front of Eric, showing no fear of David's imposing demeanor. Instead, she scolded him.

Katherine's actions surprised everyone. Usually quiet and gentle, Katherine was now standing up for the class's underdog and challenging David. Her inner strength was remarkable.

"Katherine, don't interfere. Blazeclaw just wants to give Eric some guidance. It's actually a stroke of luck for Eric. He's always being bullied; maybe with Blazeclaw's advice, he'll learn to stand up for himself," Bob explained with a smile. Due to Katherine's beauty and captivating figure, he had long regarded her as his possession.. He didn't expect her to stand up for Eric, which made him even angrier at Eric.

However, he couldn't display it openly and needed to steer Katherine away, ensuring she wouldn't interfere."Bob, as the pride of our class, are you just going to stand by and watch someone from another class bully one of us?" Katherine shook off Bob's hand and looked at him angrily. She had thought Bob was a decent person and a good choice for a partner, given his excellent performance in the fighting competition. She didn't expect him to be such a hypocrite.

"Katherine, how can you say that about me? You misunderstand. It's not my responsibility that Eric lacks proper behavior. Now Blazeclaw is teaching him some manners, which will benefit him in the future," Bob said righteously as if it was all for Eric's good.

"You!" Katherine was infuriated by Bob and quickly turned to Eric, saying, "Run, I'll hold him off."

"This girl is interesting, quite feisty. I like her," David said, eyeing Katherine with a wicked smile. He extended his hand to caress her face, losing all interest in Eric.

But before David could touch Katherine, another hand slapped him away.

"David, if you want to spar, I can agree. But just sparring is boring. How about a bet?" Eric stepped forward, pulling Katherine to the side and smiling calmly at David.

Katherine was shocked, looking at the not-so-tall Eric. She thought, 'When had Eric become so manly?' But she also thought Eric was foolish. How could he spar with David? That would just give David an excuse to beat him up.

David massaged his reddened hand, seething with anger. He glared at Eric, noticing that Eric was unusually calm and composed, unlike before when he would get agitated and desperate. It was as if he had become a different person, smiling instead of getting worked up. Had he lost his mind?

Bob was also furious seeing Eric touch Katherine. He felt the impulse to act immediately but restrained himself, intending to address Eric at a later time.

"You dare challenge me? Interesting. I'll put up 1000 credits. If you win, it's yours. If you lose, you kneel and apologize and pay me 1000 credits. Do you dare accept?" David laughed angrily, surprised by Eric's audacity.

"Such a small bet? You call that a challenge?" Eric shook his head, sneering.

"Not bad, you've grown bolder. What do you propose?" David laughed, knowing Eric couldn't afford 1000 credits. He thought Eric was being foolish.

"You have a Polaris Reach Gym membership card from the school fighting competition, right? Let's bet that. If I lose, I'll pay you 10,000 credits in a month. If you're scared, forget it," Eric taunted. In his previous life, David had shown off this card. It was perfect for training. Polaris Reach Gym in Evergreen City was famous, with excellent equipment and a high membership cost of around 8,000-9,000 credits.

"Even if I wagered the card, I highly doubt someone as destitute as you possesses such a substantial amount of money. I don't believe empty promises," David sneered.

As David said, Eric had no money now, let alone 10,000 credits. That was why he said a month later, but David wasn't buying it and mocked him.

"Eric, I know your situation. You can't even afford a decent meal, yet you pretend to be rich," Jennie sneered at Eric.

"I'll put up the 10,000 credits," Katherine suddenly said.

Bob saw Katherine stand up again, and his eyes turned red. He wanted to kill Eric right then. Eric was also surprised, looking at Katherine. He didn't understand where she got that much money. He didn't know much about her background, only that it wasn't bad. But for her to trust him and bet on him, their relationship wasn't that close, which puzzled him. Katherine glanced at Eric, comprehending his astonishment. To avoid misunderstanding, she whispered, "I can't stand David's arrogance. That's why I'm lending you the money. Don't lose your spirit; I believe in you."

"Thank you. I'll repay you double," Eric said gratefully.

This money was crucial. Now, David would definitely accept the bet. Once Eric got the membership card, he could train properly.

Training early was beneficial for the future. Katherine was a great help. Whenever Eric made money in Divine Realms: Legends, he would repay her double.

But Katherine didn't take Eric's words seriously. She just smiled and nodded, not believing he could repay, let alone double.

"Interesting. Let's go to the fighting arena and make it official," David licked his lips, more interested in Katherine. His luck in Divine Realms: Legends was terrible today, but in reality, it was great. Not only did he find a pretty girl, but he also got to teach Eric a lesson and win 10,000 credits. Truly a blessing in disguise.

They went to the school's fighting arena, where they made the contract under the mainframe's supervision. A contract recognized by the mainframe was legally binding.

There was also a notary, usually a fighting instructor, who could stop anyone from getting seriously injured.

The entire class stood beneath the platform, ridiculing Eric as a fool. Wasn't it better for him to continue being the unnoticed person he usually was? However, now he seemed to have gone mad, not only confronting Bob but also provoking David, who was even more formidable than Bob. It appeared that Eric would have a tough time ahead of him from now on.

Jennie looked at the calm and composed Eric in the ring, different from before. He gave off a sense of security. She even thought this frail Eric seemed taller. But then she shook her head, mocking herself, "A weakling who hasn't learned to fight, how strong can he be? Challenging Blazeclaw, he's courting death."
