Chapter 408 Level VS Rank

Eric's crushing win in the fourth match was a heavy blow for Jake, leaving him feeling seriously uneasy.

"Why hasn't FlyingSerpent logged back in yet?" Jake muttered, pacing back and forth, clearly agitated.

Eric was a powerhouse, and that female Priest with him probably wasn't a pushover either. She might even know the same tricks. But they still hadn't figured out how to counter that move, and the only one who might know was FlyingSerpent. Without him, Jake was stuck.

The score was tied at 2-2, and the fifth match was between SpiritSnake and Violet Mistflow.

SpiritSnake was an Assassin, which gave him a natural edge over a Priest. He also had the Eye of Observation and Second-Stage Acceleration attacks. But against that move, all his skills were useless.

"Mr. Walton, I can't get ahold of FlyingSerpent. He's been offline this whole time," SpiritSnake reported, his friend list showing FlyingSerpent's status as gray and offline.

SpiritSnake was also on edge. He dreaded that move. If he lost...

Jake would be done for, and SpiritSnake wouldn't fare much better either.

Jake glared at FlyingSerpent's status, his face twisted with anger. He wished he could log off and strangle FlyingSerpent himself.

Dropping the ball at such a critical moment? Was this a joke?

"Mr. Walton, you don't need to stress so much. While Kai Blackthorn is indeed formidable, that female Priest isn't like Kai Blackthorn or me," GrayWolfSkyborne said calmly.

"GrayWolfSkyborne, are you sure?" Jake asked, needing confirmation.

If Violet Mistflow wasn't like Kai Blackthorn and GrayWolfSkyborne, then no matter how skilled she was, Jake wouldn't be too worried. A Priest was still a Priest.

"Yes, she doesn't have the unique aura of our kind. I can guarantee that," GrayWolfSkyborne nodded.

"Great." Jake's face lit up with a smile. He looked across the arena and muttered, "Isabella, even though you brought in experts, you're still going to lose."

"SpiritSnake, it's all on you now. Don't let me down."

"Don't worry, Mr. Walton. She's just a level 22 Priest. Even without special training, I could easily defeat her. Now, with my training, it's a sure win," SpiritSnake said, a sinister smile creeping onto his face as he watched Violet Mistflow enter the arena. He was level 24, and that two-level advantage was significant for a skilled player.

SpiritSnake then entered the arena.

GrayWolfSkyborne, sitting in the audience, didn't smile. His face remained cold.

He hadn't told the whole truth earlier.

Violet Mistflow didn't have the aura of a trained fighter, but his keen instincts sensed a hint of danger from her. It wasn't exactly danger, more like a different level of existence.

"What secret does this female Priest hold?"

GrayWolfSkyborne wasn't boasting. In the entire Divine Realms: Legends, there weren't many people who could make him wary. And certainly not a young girl in the arena.

Yet here she was.

This made GrayWolfSkyborne very curious.

On Isabella's side, the tension was palpable.

"Kai Blackthorn, are you sure Violet Mistflow will be okay?" Scarlet asked, sitting next to Eric, looking for some reassurance.

She didn't know why, but she felt Eric would know.

"Probably," Eric replied, not sounding too confident.

"Probably? If she loses, Isabella will have to leave Divine Realms: Legends for good. Don't you care?" Scarlet huffed, clearly frustrated.

Eric was at a loss for words.

"Scarlet!" Isabella snapped, glaring at her.

This was no time for jokes.

Isabella knew Eric's character well enough.

Eric never spoke unless he was sure. If he said something, it meant he was certain. If he wasn't sure, he wouldn't say anything.

"But..." Scarlet knew asking was pointless. She just wanted a definite answer from Eric to feel reassured.

"I really don't know. SpiritSnake's exact strength is unclear, especially with the Eye of Observation and Second-Stage Acceleration. I don't know Violet Mistflow's current level either, but she should be strong. At least, the old SpiritSnake without those skills wouldn't be a match for her. Now, who knows? We'll have to see," Eric explained, understanding Scarlet's anxiety.

Originally, Eric was confident. But who could have predicted GrayWolfSkyborne would appear and teach SpiritSnake advanced combat techniques?

SpiritSnake had a level advantage and skill advantage, but Violet Mistflow had a class advantage.

It was anyone's game.

Scarlet was even more anxious after Eric's explanation. It was like he hadn't said anything!

But Isabella was surprised.

From Eric's words, Violet Mistflow's strength surpassed SpiritSnake's. SpiritSnake was already one of Devouring Serpents' top fighters. Even Isabella herself would struggle to win against him. Yet Eric was certain the old SpiritSnake wouldn't be a match for Violet Mistflow.

Violet Mistflow was just a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl. How could she be so strong?

If Eric was right, they had a good chance of winning. And as a ranged class, Violet Mistflow would find it easier to counter Eye of Observation and Second-Stage Acceleration.

The battle countdown in the arena ended.

SpiritSnake immediately activated stealth, disappearing from sight.

SpiritSnake, one of Devouring Serpents' top fighters, moved silently in stealth. His hiding skills surpassed even AssassinCelestialParagon. Even Eric in the audience couldn't pinpoint SpiritSnake's location.

Time ticked by, and the arena remained empty except for Violet Mistflow.

SpiritSnake didn't make a move, making the atmosphere even more tense.

This was a common Assassin tactic, creating invisible pressure. The target would be on edge, and any lapse in concentration could be fatal. Fighting an Assassin was always frustrating. Everyone wanted the Assassin to strike quickly, as maintaining high alert was exhausting.

You could be a thief for a thousand days, but you couldn't guard against one for a thousand days.

Assassins had a natural advantage against any class.

"This girl has patience. Let's see how long you can hold out. The moment you relax, you're dead," SpiritSnake thought, now just ten yards from Violet Mistflow. For an agile Assassin, ten yards was nothing.
