Chapter 52 The Holy Nun Sharon

Going to the library in Willowbrook Town was very dangerous. If an average player went there, there was a 30% chance they would die once and a 70% chance they would die many times.

So before heading to the library, Eric stored the sturdy stone and Sagestone in the bank warehouse. After all, these items were guaranteed to drop upon death, and if he died even once on the way to the library, it would be a significant loss.

Next, Eric retrieved the four skill books he had recently purchased and proceeded to click on them in order to learn their contents.

Insightful Gaze: Allows the user to perceive unknown and hidden targets, with a certain chance to discover the target's weaknesses. Cooldown: 40 seconds.

Zephyr Stride: Envelops the user in the wind, increasing movement speed by 30% and giving a 50% chance to evade ranged damage. Duration: 10 seconds. Cooldown: 2 minutes.

Earthshatter Strike: Requires a sword. Deals 30 base damage to the target, with up to 300% weapon damage based on charge time (0.2 to 3 seconds). Attack range: 8 yards. Cooldown: 1 minute.

Swordsoar Ascension: Requires a sword. Increases normal attack range by 10 yards and can block up to 6 ranged attacks or three melee attacks. Duration: 25 seconds. Cooldown: 3 minutes.

With these skills, his survival and attack capabilities were greatly enhanced, making the trip to the library much more manageable.

The library in Willowbrook Town was far from the trade district, located in the town's slums. The slums were the second most bustling area after the trade district, a mix of all kinds of people. The night held a special allure for certain players, as the slums were bestowed with an alternate name: Fallen Utopia!

As soon as Eric stepped into the domain of this utopia, he noticed the greedy gazes on the street. These rats, hidden in the darkness, were not accepted by the light and wander on the edge of hell.

In Divine Realms: Legends, there were always some players who were different from the norm. They weren't interested in dungeon strategies or thrilling adventures; their only interest was in looting, killing players, and stealing their equipment to sell at high prices for a large profit.

During the day, they leveled up and searched for well-equipped players to rob. At night, they came here to sell their stolen goods and drank and boast about their gains to elevate their status. Regular players never set foot here, as those without enough strength would just end up dead, given that this area isn't protected by guards.

Eric casually glanced at the players hidden in the corners and noticed their markers were all red, indicating they had done plenty of killing and looting.

In Divine Realms: Legends, red-named players couldn't enter player protection zones. When killed, their equipment drop rate increased, and death penalties could be up to 300% higher.

If they entered a protection zone, they would be arrested by guards, with imprisonment time based on their crime value. Despite this, many players still chose this path because the rewards came quickly. Moreover, red-named players has places to stay in towns, like the slums, and to accept good quests there; one must be yellow-named or even red-named.

Eric ignored these bloodthirsty players and walked straight through the main street of the slums. Many scantily clad, seductive women on the street corners threw flirtatious glances at him, hoping to spend a pleasant night with him and earn some money.

"Hey man, looking for some fun? Come with me, I guarantee you'll have a great night," said an alluring woman in a bright red leather skirt, blocking Eric's path.

Eric immediately used Insightful Gaze.

Sharon, Elite, Level 8, Health 1200/1200.

"Sharon, trying to sneak a bite again? How can you leave us out of such a good thing?"A group of intimidating men approached, each sporting a menacing grin.

"Is this a robbery?" Eric asked calmly, surveying his surroundings. He realized he was surrounded by NPCs, with several red-named players smirking in the corner of a dilapidated building.

Being robbed by NPCs in the dark areas of Divine Realms: Legends was normal, and this wasn't the first time Eric had been robbed by NPCs. The most memorable was when he was forced to pay a toll by an NPC Warlord in the Genesis Mountains.

An elite level 8 NPC and a group of level 7 regular NPCs were nothing to Eric, especially since he was in the slums.

"You appear to be intelligent andwe won't make things difficult for you. Hand over five silver coins, and we'll let you pass. Otherwise, we'll take action ourselves," a scar-faced man sneered.

"Then come and get it," Eric sneered back, drawing his Abyssal Blade.

If players paid the toll, they would not only lose their money but also die once and drop at least one piece of equipment. This was why average players had a 30% chance of dying once here. Expecting these NPCs who dwell on the edge of darkness to keep their promises meant their brain must be broken.

A sinister look crossed Sharon's alluring face.

"You're courting death!" A level 7 man with a knife lunged at Eric.

Without hesitation, Eric thrust his Abyssal Blade.

Double Slash, Slash, Thunderbolt, Earthshatter Strike—each attack pierced through the man's heart and neck. With Eric's Bronze Equipment and the Abyssal Blade's attack power, the man's 750 health points were instantly reduced to zero.

"Anyone else?" Eric coldly asked, scanning all the NPCs.

The NPCs were stunned by Eric and quickly stepped aside. The players hidden in the corners were also shocked. Taking down a level 7 NPC in just a few moves—this player was too strong. In utopia, strength is everything, so they quietly dispersed.

Only Sharon seemed very interested in Eric.

"You're really strong, so I'm impressed. Do you need a guide? I can help you avoid a lot of trouble for a small fee," Sharon said, approaching Eric with a smile.

"No need. I know the way to the library," Eric replied, not wanting to get entangled with these NPCs. His sole interest lay in uncovering clues about the Elven Diary.

Hearing Eric's response, Sharon smiled even more brightly.

"I'm the librarian, Sharon. You can ask me anything about the library. No one knows it better than I do," she said, proudly puffing out her chest.

"Isn't the librarian in Willowbrook Town supposed to be a holy nun?" Eric was skeptical."Are you talking about this?" Sharon pulled out a nun's outfit and changed into it.

Instantly, her wild aura disappeared, and she looked like a divine angel, making everyone feel an uncontrollable urge to confess in her presence.

At the same time, her stats changed.

Holy Nun Sharon, Priest, Level 20, Health 10000/10000.

Eric was stunned, then he thought, 'What was going on? Could NPCs have dual roles?'
