Chapter 372 The Five Great Cities
Walking down the main street of Silvervale City, Eric had already used the Demon Mask to revert to his original appearance as Kai Blackthorn, with his ID name turning back to white.
Eric had been using the fake ID BlackFlame for quite some time, and in a game like Divine Realms: Legends, where new players flood in daily and top players emerge constantly, it was enough for the people of Silvervale City to forget about Kai Blackthorn.
As Eric made his way to the bank in Silvervale City, not a single player recognized him. Some players did give him a second glance, but it wasn't because of his identity—it was because of his gear.
At his waist hung a Demonic Weapon, the Abyssal Blade, and an Obsidian Level Infernal Shadeblade. Even though Eric had disabled the glowing effects, the intricate patterns on the sword and the shimmering light on the blade were clearly not features of a Common Level Weapon.
"Silvervale City has really changed a lot. The average player's level is now comparable to those in the capital, Eldoria City."
Eric casually observed his surroundings. In the short time he had been away, the streets were now filled with players around level fifteen or sixteen, many of whom were equipped with several pieces of Bronze Level Equipment. He even spotted some level seventeen or eighteen players, wearing a mix of Bronze and Dark Iron Level gear, something that was unheard of before.
Seeing this, Eric suddenly had an idea.
To turn Silvervale City into the center of Eldoria.
Originally, Eric had planned to wait until the Guild of Aether Wing was strong enough to expand to Eldoria City, the capital, to compete for resources. Eldoria City was the heart of Eldoria, a battleground for top guilds and a hub for elite players, with a player base far larger than any other city. Controlling Eldoria City meant access to a vast pool of elite players, accelerating mid-game growth far beyond other cities.
But now, seeing the current state of Silvervale City, Eric wondered why Aether Wing should bother fighting tooth and nail with those top guilds.
Most players flocked to Eldoria City because it offered more opportunities and advantages than other cities.
But now?
Because the Guild of Aether Wing was based in Silvervale City and wasn't recruiting in other cities, players were coming here on their own. And why were they coming? Because Aether Wing had advantages that other guilds didn't have.
As long as Aether Wing continued to showcase more and more unique advantages, more players would come to Silvervale City. And as players leveled up and earned more, the cost of teleporting between cities would no longer be an issue. Silvervale City could surpass Eldoria City in development.
"Is it information from The Stygian Alliance?" Eric suddenly heard a notification sound, and a message alert kept flashing before his eyes. The sender was CelestialParagon.
The information from CelestialParagon was exactly what Eric needed at this moment.
The Stygian Alliance had already taken control of several cities around Silvervale City. Eric had no idea to what extent they had control or which cities were under their influence, making it impossible to counteract them without wasting a lot of time. This was not the outcome Eric wanted.
If he could get detailed information on The Stygian Alliance, things would be much easier.
"This is a lot of information. Did CelestialParagon kidnap Ethan or something? How did he get such detailed info?" Eric was shocked when he opened the file, finding it to be dozens of pages long, far more detailed than he had imagined. This was definitely not information that a peripheral member could access; it was likely only known to someone at Ethan's level.
With such detailed information on The Stygian Alliance, Eric immediately found a quiet spot in the bank to sit down and began to read carefully.
Over two hours later, Eric finally finished the last page and let out a long breath.
"I thought I had already overestimated The Stygian Alliance, but I didn't expect them to be this terrifying. They secretly control over 316 guilds in the eastern region of Eldoria alone. No wonder even Isabella is wary of them." Eric roughly estimated that the Stygian Alliance controlled over a million players in the eastern region of Eldoria, and this was the area where they had the least control, with most of their influence concentrated around Eldoria City.
Aether Wing currently had only about five thousand members, a mere speck compared to The Stygian Alliance's million-strong force.
Not to mention The Stygian Alliance's elite Guardians of the Abyss. Though there were only about four hundred of them, each one was a top player. A hundred of them could easily wipe out a hundred-member elite team grinding in the wild, and there were four hundred of these experts—truly terrifying.
Additionally, the five major cities near Silvervale City—BlueFrost City, Maple City, Gale City, Twin Lions City, and Froststar City—were all dominated by guilds secretly controlled by The Stygian Alliance. These guilds were no less powerful than the Darkstar Guild. Without strong enemies, their growth was rapid. The guild leading Maple City, Smile Over Ruins, was even stronger than the Darkstar Guild at its peak.
If left unchecked, these powerful guilds controlled by theStygian Alliance would inevitably become the rulers of their respective cities.
"The Stygian Alliance is really a headache. This situation is worse than I imagined." Eric frowned, scratching his head as he pondered.
Given Aether Wing's current strength, it would be challenging to take on even one of these guilds, let alone all five. Fighting in another city would be disadvantageous, requiring a strong force just to cause disruption. A small team wouldn't affect these guilds, and the cost of teleportation and resources would be too high for Aether Wing to sustain.
Moreover, with his current strength, he couldn't significantly impact a guild.
"I need to speed up my class change." Eric glanced at the Excalibur in his backpack, feeling an even greater urgency to complete his class change.
After much thought, Eric realized he had no other options. The only thing he could do was to increase his own strength.
The combat power of a Tier 1 player was significantly higher than that of a regular player, especially with a hidden class. If he could successfully change his class and become a Tier 1 player, he could cause some trouble for these guilds and buy more time for Aether Wing to develop.
Eric then headed to the bank counter, retrieved two Sagestones from his personal storage, and took a large number of Sorcerous Crystals from the guild warehouse.
These Sorcerous Crystals were materials dropped by mobs and bosses in dungeons, used for crafting equipment. Since they weren't needed at the moment, they had been piling up in the guild warehouse. Eric took all of them.
He then returned to the forging room at StellarTrails Emporium, taking out the Sagestones and all the Sorcerous Crystals.
Magic Source Stones were minerals found within Sorcerous Crystals. Refining Sorcerous Crystals had a chance of yielding Magic Source Stones, so Eric planned to use the Sagestones to refine the Sorcerous Crystals in hopes of obtaining Magic Source Stones.
However, Magic Source Stones were extremely rare and valuable. The chances of refining them from Sorcerous Crystals were undoubtedly very low, and Eric wasn't very confident.
"Let's hope this works."
Eric picked up a transparent Sorcerous Crystal in one hand and a Sagestone in the other, silently praying as he chose to refine the Sorcerous Crystal.
