Chapter 293 Inferno Serpent
In Throne of Immortality, all the big shots present witnessed the situation in the Twelve Trials.
They were all shocked that Eric could control the Demonic Weapon.
"An incredible young man, not even a first-rank Swordsman, yet he can wield a Demonic Weapon and has even unlocked it to this extent."
"A master of the Demonic Weapon and Exotic Flame, and he has clearly begun to master his own control, showing considerable skill. He truly surprises us again and again."
"Yes, mastering the Demonic Weapon and Exotic Flame is one thing, but reaching this level of self-control is something even many third-rank professionals can't achieve. It seems the sixth trial won't be a problem for him. With such potential, if he had come a bit later, he might have passed the seventh trial. What a pity."
The mastery mentioned by the NPC big shots was merely being able to exert 50% of one's combat power. These NPCs had no idea that Eric was a third-rank peak Sword King in his previous life, capable of exerting 80% of his combat power. If it weren't for his physical condition limiting his brain's potential and his equipment issues, Eric would have already been a fourth-rank Sword Emperor.
"But there's nothing we can do about it. Who could have expected the Abyssal Rift Valley to be breached so quickly?"
"It's a pity, but it can't be helped. We old folks should prepare ourselves, or our old bones might break from exhaustion."
The big shots on the Silver Throne acknowledged Eric's potential, but they had no hope for him passing the seventh trial, as no one had passed it in over a thousand years.
In the Twelve Trials, the sixth trial Eric entered was a magma cave, somewhat like the Inferno Shrine, but with purer and denser fire elements. Boiling magma flowed around Eric, and the ground's temperature was enough to roast a person. If Eric didn't have 20 points of fire resistance, making him immune to such temperatures, an ordinary player would be half-dead before even starting the fight.
As Eric was still surveying the terrain, a massive serpent, nearly 70 feet long and covered in flames, emerged from the magma.
Inferno Serpent, special elite, level 20, 150,000 HP.
Even if Eric didn't know how powerful this Inferno Serpent was, he knew it must have very high resistance to fire attacks.
"Let's test my new weapon on you."
Eric smiled slightly, drawing the Abyssal Blade and Infernal Shadeblade from his waist. He didn't charge in recklessly; that would be something only a brute would do. A master first understands their opponent and then acts. So, Eric stood still, quietly observing the Inferno Serpent's every move, familiarizing himself with its actions.
But the Inferno Serpent wasn't stupid. It was clearly much stronger than Eric and had a vast amount of HP. It wouldn't give Eric time to study it. It opened its mouth, shooting fireballs at Eric.
Eric moved his feet, leaving an afterimage and easily dodging the fireballs.
But the Inferno Serpent didn't stop, continuously spitting fireballs at Eric.
If three or five weren't enough, it shot over a dozen, densely packed.
This attack mode, which could both harm the enemy and prevent them from getting close, would likely kill an ordinary player in one encounter. But Eric was different. He didn't retreat but advanced, showing no signs of distress, instead moving gracefully as if dancing in the fire.
However, when Eric was within 20 yards of the Inferno Serpent, simply dodging to advance was no longer possible.
"I've got the timing of its attacks down. Now let's see how powerful my new weapon is," Eric thought with a smile, looking at the Inferno Serpent continuously spitting fireballs.
Eric activated Frost Azure Flame, enveloping himself in deep blue flames. With a Silent Stride, he appeared behind the Inferno Serpent's head.
He struck with his sword, dealing 372 damage.
"What strong defense!" Eric couldn't believe the damage he had caused.
The Abyssal Blade itself had an attack power of 302, and with his strength, the attack power was over 700. Plus, he had activated Frost Azure Flame mode, increasing damage by 20%, yet he only dealt 372 damage. The Inferno Serpent's defense was as strong as a high-defense Overlord Grade monster.
If he hadn't upgraded the Abyssal Blade to level 20 and wielded the top-tier Obsidian Level One-Handed Sword Infernal Shadeblade, Eric would have been lucky to deal 150 damage.
At this moment, Eric was glad he hadn't rushed into the sixth trial; otherwise, his chances of winning would have been less than 20%.
But this thought only lasted a moment, and Eric's attacks didn't stop.
A Thunderbolt attack sent three blue electric arcs into the flames, piercing the Inferno Serpent's fiery body, dealing -554, -1528, and -1125 damage, significantly more than before, and adding a damage amplification effect for 20 seconds.
Then a Slash dealt nearly 2,000 damage.
As Eric landed, he struck several more times. With a 40% critical hit rate on the Abyssal Blade, critical hits came one after another, quickly reducing the Inferno Serpent's HP by over 7,000. But with 150,000 HP, it would take at least twenty more rounds to kill it.
Initially, Eric was quite pleased, thinking he had a good chance of killing the Inferno Serpent even without using Black Emperor. But he soon realized the Inferno Serpent's HP regeneration was incredibly fast, recovering 500 HP per second, equivalent to his Cleaving Strike damage. In less than 20 seconds, it would be back to full health.
And the Inferno Serpent, now aware, swung its tail at him.
Eric quickly used Parry to block the tail strike, taking no damage but being pushed back three steps, his hands slightly numb. In terms of destructive power, the Inferno Serpent was even stronger than the Chimera and faster, leaving him no time to dodge, only to Parry.
But Parry had a 30-second cooldown; even at level seven, it still required 21 seconds.
Additionally, Eric had the Swordsoar Ascension skill for both attack and defense. Even at level six, it had a 2-minute cooldown but could block four melee and eight ranged attacks without being affected by impact, making it much more useful than Parry.
Seeing over a dozen fireballs coming his way, Eric leaped to avoid them, but the Inferno Serpent's tail swung at him again, whistling through the air, as fast as a Stormblade.
Eric didn't back down, using the level seven Inferno Thunderstorm to counter.
Flames scattered as the Inferno Serpent's tail was deflected, taking over 400 damage, while Eric crashed heavily to the ground, shattering the rocks beneath him and taking over 700 damage. In direct confrontation, Eric was always at a slight disadvantage. However, in the entire Divine Realms: Legends, Eric was likely the only player who dared to face such a special elite head-on and come out only slightly worse off.
