Chapter 325 Life and Death

"You're not messing with me?"

Celestial Paragon stared intently at Eric, trying to see through Eric's thoughts. However, no matter how hard he observed and thought, he couldn't see through Eric disguised with the Demon Mask. All he could see was the friendly, smiling middle-aged man. CelestialParagon couldn't figure out what Eric was up to.

After sparing his life, Eric came back to use his life as a wager. Why go through all that trouble? Why not just kill him outright?

"Why would I mess with you?" Eric chuckled.

"Fine, I agree. So what happens if I survive? And if I die?" CelestialParagon, for the sake of his pride and honor, had to give it a try.

"If you survive, I'll help you with something. If you die, you help me with something. How about that?" Eric finally revealed his true intention. All he did was for this purpose.

"Help with something?" CelestialParagon fell into deep thought. After a while, he looked at Eric and said, "What if I ask you to kill Kai Blackthorn?"

Eric was taken aback, then smiled.

In Silvervale City, everyone knew that the IDs Black Flame and Kai Blackthorn were iconic figures of the Guild of Aether Wing.

Eric didn't expect CelestialParagon to make such a request. It had to be said that CelestialParagon was quite ruthless. If he killed Kai Blackthorn using the identity of Black Flame, it would have a significant impact on Aether Wing and the reputations of both IDs.

However, only a few core members knew that both IDs, Black Flame and Kai Blackthorn, were actually Eric.

Asking him to kill himself was indeed a bit challenging.

"What, didn't you say you could help with something?" CelestialParagon said with a smug smile. "Now that I've made such a small request, you're hesitating?"

"No, I just didn't expect you to ask for something so simple. I thought you would kill me directly once. After all, I'm the leader of Aether Wing, and Ethan from The Stygian Alliance hates me to the core. If you kill me and show the video to The Stygian Alliance's higher-ups, you'll be highly valued by them, and your status will rise significantly." Eric's wager was not small.

If Black Flame died, the prestige that the Guild of Aether Wing had painstakingly built up because of Black Flame would be destroyed.

CelestialParagon suddenly realized he had forgotten about this.

The downfall of the Darkstar Guild made Ethan from The Stygian Alliance hate the Guild of Aether Wing. He had spent so much effort building up his guild, only for it to end up like this. Naturally, he couldn't let the Guild of Aether Wing go. So, Ethan issued a bounty. Any member of The Stygian Alliance who could kill a high-ranking member of the Guild of Aether Wing or cause trouble for them would receive generous rewards.

If someone could accomplish this, they would gain fame, status, and wealth.

If they could destroy the Guild of Aether Wing, they could even be promoted from an outer member to an elite member of The Stygian Alliance.

There weren't many elite members in The Stygian Alliance, but those who became elite members would soon become significant figures in real life. Many outer members were striving to become official members of The Stygian Alliance, and now a direct path to becoming an elite member had opened up.

If he killed the leader of the Guild of Aether Wing, Black Flame, he had a good chance of becoming an elite member of The Stygian Alliance. Even if he didn't, he could still become an official member.

So, CelestialParagon chose to ambush Black Flame when he noticed that Kai Blackthorn was not among the Aether Wing members.

"Alright, I accept your wager. Let's start once I'm fully recovered." CelestialParagon thought that killing the leader of the Guild of Aether Wing, Black Flame, was too advantageous for him, so he agreed immediately.

After a short while, CelestialParagon's health and mental state were fully restored.

"How about we start the fight when this coin reaches its highest point and begins to fall?" Eric suggested, taking out a coin.

"Alright."

CelestialParagon felt speechless seeing Eric casually use a coin as a starting signal. Wasn't Eric afraid of losing the coin? He only had about twenty silver coins in his pocket, which was considered wealthy among players, but Eric was using nearly five times that amount as a toy.

Comparing oneself to others could be infuriating!

"Then let's begin!"

Eric casually tossed the coin into the air. The coin rose rapidly, and when it reached about 15 feet above the ground, its speed slowed, and it began to fall. CelestialParagon was already on high alert, staring intently at the coin. As soon as it started to fall, he would use a blinding skill on Eric, then activate Galestride and escape to the town. Using the Vanishing Strike skill in such an open area would be easily noticed, but it would be different in the town.

The town's complex terrain would give him an advantage. During this time, he had other life-saving skills and items. Once he reached the town and used Vanishing Strike, even if Eric had high perception, he wouldn't be able to find him.

However, Eric's eyes remained fixed on CelestialParagon, not the coin in mid-air.

As the coin began to fall, CelestialParagon was about to use the blinding skill when Eric suddenly used Vanishing Strike, appearing behind CelestialParagon and slashing at him. The strike was incredibly fast, impossible to dodge.

CelestialParagon felt an unprecedented chill from behind. The blinding skill failed due to the lost target. He immediately used Galestride, which granted him nearly a second of invincibility, blocking Eric's strike without taking any damage. Instead, he cleverly used the force of the strike to propel himself five or six yards away, creating a significant distance.

"How decisive!" Eric's gaze shifted to the fleeing CelestialParagon, silently praising him. If CelestialParagon had used a block instead of Galestride, Eric's strike would have taken half of his health. Using Galestride not only blocked the damage but also created distance, a precise judgment.

Although CelestialParagon had created distance and increased his speed by 40% with Galestride, Eric quickly used Wind-chasing Sword to close the gap, shortening the distance between them in an instant.

Eric's agility was extremely high, unmatched in all of Eldoria. His equipment and passive skills made him the fastest, only surpassed by level 50 first-tier Assassin or Ranger NPCs.

CelestialParagon was shocked. He quickly took out a magic scroll from his backpack.

The scroll was water-blue and very delicate, clearly a first-tier magic scroll.

CelestialParagon opened the scroll and used it on Eric.

Current Constraint!

Several water jets shot out from the scroll, rushing towards Eric to envelop him.

Eric smiled faintly and continued charging at CelestialParagon.

As soon as the blue water touched Eric, it instantly lost its effect and dissipated.

"How is it useless?" CelestialParagon was shocked.

That was a precious first-tier magic scroll, capable of trapping even a Boss for a while. But it did not affect Eric.

CelestialParagon didn't know that Eric had activated the Ring of Seven Luminaries' Ring of Void before the battle, making him immune to any control effects. A first-tier magic scroll couldn't break the protection of the Ring of Seven Luminaries.

"Damn, I guess I have to use this."

CelestialParagon reluctantly took out an old magic scroll he had found in an underground ruin. Although the scroll was old, it emitted an astonishing magical power. The NPC appraiser couldn't determine its tier, but initially estimated it to be above second-tier.

CelestialParagon didn't want to use it, as it was his only precious scroll. But now he had no choice. Eric's speed was too incredible. If Eric caught up to him again, it would be troublesome.
