Chapter 351 Original Sin

"He didn't fall for it?" RedFeather muttered, a bit taken aback by the disdainful look Eric shot his way.

RedFeather had planned to lure Eric in and then kill him, making it easier to grab the loot. When people are desperate, they tend to cling to even the smallest glimmer of hope—it's almost instinctual. RedFeather exploited this, knowing that many would come over despite suspecting a trap.

But Eric?

Eric was surrounded by players on all sides, with tens of thousands of eyes fixed on him. The area was so packed that not even a fly could escape. He was completely trapped, with no hope of getting out.

Faced with such overwhelming odds, an ordinary person would have collapsed in fear. Even RedFeather couldn't guarantee he wouldn't be affected by the pressure of so many hostile eyes. Yet Eric not only remained unaffected but even had the leisure to throw a disdainful look.

RedFeather wondered if Eric was even human to stay so calm under such circumstances.

"But even if you don't fall for it, you have no chance of escaping," RedFeather thought, still determined to kill Eric.

Arrows and fire rained down from above, covering the sky. Even though Eric was level 34 and had a significant level advantage, survival seemed impossible.

No one doubted that Eric would die.

But Eric's actions puzzled everyone.

At this critical moment, he activated Swordsoar Ascension and started picking up items from the ground, tossing them into his backpack one by one, as if he cared more about the loot than his life.

Many players were baffled by his behavior.

"Does BlackFlame think he can escape?"

"Does he believe that putting items in his backpack will keep them from dropping?"

Eric simply smiled, ignoring the incoming attacks.

Wave after wave of magic and arrows fell, turning the area within 20 yards of Eric into a fiery, icy wasteland. Every player within that range was reduced to ashes, including Eric.

"Ha! BlackFlame, you finally got what you deserve," RogueVortex laughed, seeing Eric turn into stardust. Though he hadn't killed Eric himself, the myth of BlackFlame's invincibility was shattered, making him a laughingstock in Divine Realms: Legends.

The president of the Guild of Aether Wing, BlackFlame, is dying because of greed—what could be more ironic?

"But wait, BlackFlame is dead, yet none of the items he picked up dropped," a sharp-eyed player suddenly exclaimed.

Everyone was stunned by this revelation.

As the player pointed out, BlackFlame was indeed dead, but the number of items on the ground had decreased.

What was going on?

Did the items dropped by the Mechanical Slaughterer not require a two-hour hold time if placed in a backpack?

RogueVortex was dumbfounded, staring at the spot where Eric had died, unable to figure it out.

If items placed in a backpack didn't need to be held for two hours, then BlackFlame, being a high-profile target, should have dropped most of his equipment upon death. Yet, nothing had dropped.

"RedFeather, this complicates things. If items don't drop once placed in a backpack, it'll be even harder for us to get them," Hatty said anxiously.

With so many players around, once an item was picked up, they had no chance of getting it.

"Alright, let's grab as much as we can. Everyone, go for it!" RedFeather barked, frustration evident in his voice. Their plans had been thrown off by the unexpected mechanics of the Mechanical Slaughterer's drops. As for Eric's death, RedFeather was certain—magic had bombarded the area, making stealth impossible, and he hadn't seen Eric use any skills.

"Everyone, charge! Don't let the big guilds hog all the loot. Once it's in our backpacks, it's ours!"

Initially, solo players had only been watching, not daring to compete for the drops. Without guild protection, anyone who tried would surely die, losing their equipment and levels. Only a madman would take such a risk. But now things were different.

BlackFlame had picked up numerous items in front of everyone, and none had dropped upon his death, proving that whoever picked up the items kept them.

With a glimmer of hope for obtaining Adamantite or even Obsidian Level items, solo players went wild.

Suddenly, tens of thousands of players were in chaos, casting spells to prevent others from touching the drops.

Unbeknownst to them, Silvervale City, and indeed all of Eldoria, was witnessing the largest battle in Divine Realms: Legends' history. The scene was chaotic, with tens of thousands of players fighting, making it difficult for even experts to make a significant impact or ensure their own survival.

"SwordShadow, should we join in? We might get an Obsidian Level item, or even an Epic Level one if we're lucky. Then we won't have to worry anymore," the female knight Turtledove said excitedly from a high building overlooking the battlefield.

The sight of such a massive battle was awe-inspiring, tempting anyone to join in and seize the treasure.

"Alright, let's go," SwordShadow, always eager for a fight, agreed despite Eric's earlier warning.

If they could grab three or four items like Eric, even dying would be worth it. Facing tens of thousands of players, even the top-ranked expert from Heavenly Secret Pavilion couldn't survive.

"I advise against it. Even if you get the items, you'll lose them upon death."

A calm voice reached SwordShadow and Turtledove's ears.

They turned to see Eric, cloaked in black, looking relaxed.

"You... how did you revive?" Turtledove asked in disbelief.

"Revive? I never died," Eric chuckled.

Charging in without a plan was foolish. Eric had prepared well.

Before attacking the Mechanical Slaughterer, Eric used Phantom Slay, sending his clone away from the battlefield while his real self grabbed the loot. Afterward, he swapped places with his clone, letting it take the damage while he escaped.

"You didn't die? That's impossible. I saw you get hit by countless spells and turn into stardust," Turtledove said, scrutinizing Eric closely.

Eric smiled. "That was just my clone."

"A clone?" Turtledove was skeptical but understood once Eric explained. She was impressed by his foresight.

SwordShadow was even more shocked.

Eric had used a clone to deceive tens of thousands of players, causing them to fight each other madly.

If SwordShadow and Turtledove knew Eric had come to the high building to observe and plan his next move, they'd be even more astonished.

Eric sat down and opened the system menu of the Ring of Seven Luminaries.

"Finally, I can level up my skills," Eric thought, excitedly looking at the seven skills displayed.

Even at level one, these skills had been immensely helpful. Upgrading them would significantly boost his power, aiding him in his upcoming class change quest.
