Chapter 375 Borrowing Someone

Eric pocketed the 21 Magic Source Stones and the Sagestone from the table, thinking, "Got the stones, now I just need to awaken three Tier 4 NPCs." He wondered where he could find them.

Silvervale City only had three Tier 4 NPCs, and getting them together was a tall order.

Even if Eric were ten times stronger and became the Earl of Silvervale City, he wouldn't have the clout to gather all three for help.

"Guess I'll have to check out Eldoria City," Eric decided. Eldoria City had the highest concentration of high-level NPCs, making it the best place to find Tier 4 NPCs for assistance.

Eric left StellarTrails Emporium and headed to the bank.

The safest place for the Sagestone was the bank's vault. If he died unexpectedly, the Sagestone in his backpack would be lost, and he couldn't afford to lose such a valuable alchemical Holy Relic.

Walking down the main street of Silvervale City, Eric couldn't help but overhear players discussing Smile Over Ruins.

"How did Smile Over Ruins get so strong? They cleared the fifty-person raid so quickly. I heard they didn't have any top players before."

"I know, right? I thought Devouring Serpents or Aether Wing would get the first clear. Devouring Serpents is led by Ice Goddess Isabella. She might not be on the top player list, but her past achievements are impressive. Her strength is probably on par with BlackFlame. But now, they've lost to a second-rate guild like Smile Over Ruins. It's unbelievable."

"Yeah, that fifty-person raid drops amazing gear, top-tier sets that other raids can't compare to. With this gear, Smile Over Ruins will have an easier time with the upcoming level 20 large-scale raids."

"I heard Smile Over Ruins is now the dominant guild in Maple City and is recruiting heavily. Their benefits are great, and it's confirmed online that someone invested 10 billion credits into the guild's development. It's tempting; I'm considering moving to Maple City to join Smile Over Ruins."

Players resting along the street were all focused on Smile Over Ruins. The momentum Aether Wing had built was easily overshadowed by Smile Over Ruins.

Eric could only smile wryly.

Smile Over Ruins, clearing the large-scale raid at this time was perfect.

It not only made Smile Over Ruins famous in Eldoria but also overshadowed Aether Wing's reputation, shifting everyone's attention.

But there was nothing he could do about it.

Players cared more about raids than individual strength, as raids were the primary source of gear, especially top-tier equipment.

Eric had just stored the Sagestone in his personal vault when the system notified him of a voice call request. The caller was Isabella.

"Hey, Ms. Collins," Eric greeted as he answered the call.

Smile Over Ruins' raid clear was a significant blow to Aether Wing, but the most frustrated person was Isabella. She had invested heavily to secure the first clear, leveraging advantages other guilds couldn't match, yet Smile Over Ruins had beaten her to it.

"Eric, I need to talk to you about something," Isabella said, her tone neutral, hiding her emotions.

"Sure, what's up, Isabella?" Eric replied with a smile.

"I need to borrow someone from you," Isabella stated.

"Borrow someone?" Eric was puzzled. Devouring Serpents had plenty of top players; they shouldn't be short on manpower.

"Yes, I need Kai Blackthorn," Isabella confirmed. "I'll offer five million credits as compensation."

"Borrow Kai Blackthorn?" Eric almost lost his balance. What was Isabella thinking?

Borrowing Kai Blackthorn meant borrowing him.

When did he become so valuable that the Ice Goddess would offer five million credits for his help?

That was the annual salary of a renowned virtual game expert, and he only needed to do one thing...

She really valued him highly.

"I know this is sudden. Ideally, I'd ask you for help, but as the president of Aether Wing, you're too involved and well-known. So, I thought of Kai Blackthorn. He's just a member of Aether Wing, and without your permission, he wouldn't agree to help," Isabella explained. She had no choice but to ask for Kai Blackthorn after losing the first clear to Smile Over Ruins.

Eric understood that Isabella needed a top player who wasn't too famous, preferably a hidden expert, which led her to Kai Blackthorn.

"Isabella, I'd love to help, but Kai Blackthorn is currently on a critical mission. It's not possible right now. How about I send another top player from Aether Wing?" Eric offered, prioritizing his class change quest.

"Another top player?" Isabella paused before responding, "If they're as strong as Kai Blackthorn, that would work."

"That's unlikely," Eric admitted.

No one in the guild could match Kai Blackthorn in terms of gear, skills, or combat prowess. FlameDancer, Rosewater, Violet Mistflow, and Cola had potential, especially Violet Mistflow, whose progress was rapid. Without his decade of experience in Divine Realms: Legends, he might have been surpassed already.

"If they can't match Kai Blackthorn's strength, it won't work," Isabella said, disappointed but understanding. "Eric, how long will Kai Blackthorn's mission take?"

Eric estimated that his class change quest would take three to five days.

"About five days," Eric replied conservatively.

"Five days?" Isabella frowned, contemplating before asking, "Eric, are you sure five days will be enough?"

"Yes," Eric confirmed.

Eric sensed that Isabella had made an important decision.

"Then I'll trouble you, Eric. I'll transfer the five million credits to your account immediately," Isabella said, relieved by Eric's assurance. She thanked him and ended the call.
