Chapter 406 Speed Duel

After hearing Isabella's explanation, Scarlet was stunned, staring at FlyingSerpent in the arena.

FlyingSerpent had never been this powerful before.

No one knew he had this kind of talent. He hid it so well. Who could possibly stand a chance against him in close combat now?

While others could manage three or four attacks at most, FlyingSerpent could unleash fourteen or fifteen. It was practically unbeatable.

The only way to win might be to keep a distance and use ranged attacks. Close combat professions had no chance.

"It's impressive you figured out FlyingSerpent's ability, but there's no way he's losing this match," Jake said, his stern face breaking into a grin.

As long as FlyingSerpent won this duel, the competition would be over. Isabella would be barred from entering Divine Realms: Legends, and he could comfortably take the president's seat.

Everything was going according to plan.

"That was just a warm-up. When I get serious, my speed will be even faster. It's impressive you blocked those two strikes. Let's see how many more you can handle."

In the arena, FlyingSerpent was surprised Eric could discern his talent, but even if he could, it couldn't be countered, especially not by a Swordsman.

The Swordsman profession relied heavily on Cleaving Strike, focusing on endurance. If FlyingSerpent faced a ranged profession, it would be more troublesome, but against another Swordsman, his reflex speed made him invincible.

Moreover, he had mastered the Eye of Observation, allowing him to easily detect an enemy's every move and attack their weak points. This skill, combined with his reflex speed, made him unbeatable.

FlyingSerpent stomped the ground again, transforming into a gust of wind and charging straight at Eric.

A direct attack was easy to predict and counter, but FlyingSerpent didn't care. He left himself wide open, as if daring Eric to strike.

"Want to test speed?" Eric frowned slightly.

Facing a FlyingSerpent with special talent in a head-on fight was highly disadvantageous. FlyingSerpent's attacks had many openings because he wasn't afraid. Even if Eric struck, FlyingSerpent could detect it with the Eye of Observation and react quickly, dodging before the sword even reached him.

Eric activated the Ring of Seven Luminaries, switching to the Ring of Wind, increasing his movement speed by 40%, attack speed by 40%, and agility by 30%, and charged forward.

In an instant, FlyingSerpent's twin swords created nearly sixteen sword shadows, forcing Eric to face sixteen simultaneous attacks.

Eric, with the Ring of Wind activated, was no slouch. His sword speed was faster than before, and he could easily block the myriad of sword shadows.

For a moment, the two were evenly matched.

Eric had a significant speed advantage, but FlyingSerpent's reflexes were unparalleled. Even if Eric's sword was faster, FlyingSerpent could react first.

The arena was filled with countless sparks, like a blazing fire.

The sound of metal clashing echoed throughout the arena, deafening.

The audience was breathless, watching the lightning-fast battle, where every moment was life or death. A single misstep could decide the outcome.

"Kai Blackthorn is so strong. No wonder he's always so confident," Scarlet said in disbelief, watching Eric, who hadn't lost a drop of blood, in awe.

The recently revived FierceSnake nodded repeatedly. In such a fast-paced battle, he wouldn't last two seconds.

"Of course, Kai Blackthorn is very strong," Violet Mistflow said with a smile.

No joke, the acknowledged top fighter in Eldoria, The One-Blade Reaper, wouldn't be defeated by someone with a special constitution.

"Alright, your Kai Blackthorn is impressive," Scarlet said, relieved by Eric's performance. If Eric lost, today's competition would be over.

On the other side, Jake's group was equally shocked.

FlyingSerpent, the top fighter of Devouring Serpents, was evenly matched with the relatively unknown Kai Blackthorn.

"That Kai Blackthorn is amazing, blocking FlyingSerpent's fierce attacks. Even I couldn't last this long," SpiritSnake said, slightly stunned by Kai Blackthorn's ease in handling the situation.

"But the outcome will be decided soon," GrayWolfSkyborne said, rarely showing a smile.

"GrayWolfSkyborne, what do you mean?" SpiritSnake asked curiously.

"FlyingSerpent hasn't gone all out yet. He's just testing Kai Blackthorn. Haven't you noticed FlyingSerpent hasn't used Second-Stage Acceleration?" GrayWolfSkyborne's sharp eyes had already detected that FlyingSerpent was holding back considerable strength.

"That explains it. No wonder Kai Blackthorn can withstand it," SpiritSnake laughed.

As GrayWolfSkyborne spoke, FlyingSerpent suddenly retreated several steps, creating distance, and Eric didn't pursue, standing still and watching.

"You've surprised me. You're the first to last this long against me since I mastered the Eye of Observation. How about joining us? GrayWolfSkyborne can make you stronger. It's better than following Isabella. As for Isabella's offer, I think Mr. Walton, seeing your skills, would offer double," FlyingSerpent said, smiling at Eric.

FlyingSerpent found Eric's attacks extremely challenging to handle. Eric's sword was so fast that if he didn't detect the attack location in advance, he couldn't dodge or block it.

If it were AssassinSpiritSnake instead, the battle would have ended long ago. Only someone with FlyingSerpent's exceptional talent could dodge Eric's attacks.

"What I want, Jake can't give, so don't bother," Eric shook his head.

"That's a shame. Then die!" FlyingSerpent's smile turned into a snarl, and he unleashed eighteen sword shadows, blocking all of Eric's escape routes.

Though there were eighteen sword shadows, the attack speed wasn't very fast. But Eric knew FlyingSerpent was going all out. Each of the eighteen strikes was Second-Stage Acceleration, truly inhumanly powerful.

As the eighteen sword shadows descended, Eric activated Infernal Fury, Zephyr Stride, Wind-chasing Sword, and Leap, charging forward instead of retreating.

In an instant, Eric became a phantom, swiftly weaving through the gaps in FlyingSerpent's eighteen sword shadows.

As they crossed paths, a silver-gray sword light appeared on FlyingSerpent's body.

In the blink of an eye, time seemed to stand still.

FlyingSerpent's body suddenly sprayed a large amount of blood, splattering everywhere. With a scream, he collapsed to the ground.

"What just happened?"

"What on earth?"

The sudden turn of events left the entire arena in silence, with only FlyingSerpent's scream echoing.
