Chapter 18 Nine Dragon Slash

Eric was ambushed and heavily injured by the enraged Kobold Leader, whose flowing blood from the wound became its stimulant.

The Kobold Leader raised its huge axe high, continuously striking at Eric time and time again. Initially caught off guard by Eric's sneak attack, the Kobold Leader could only instinctively retaliate, resulting in less intense attacks. However, the current onslaught was on a different level, with each strike leaving deep axe marks on the ground and sending gravel flying. The relentless attacks were overwhelming, leaving no room for defense.

The frenzied assault of the Kobold Leader could easily take down even a level 5 Shield Warrior or Protection Knight.

Eric found himself constantly retreating, unable to find an opportunity to counterattack amidst the ferocious assault. Dodging the flying gravel, which was fist-sized and could cause significant harm upon impact, added to his challenge.

The clash between man and beast was swift, with ordinary individuals likely unable to withstand even a single blow from the giant axe, resulting in instant death.

"Tonny, attack quickly; I can't hold on much longer," Eric shouted desperately as he dodged for several seconds, waiting for Tonny to strike.

Facing the Boss Leader, Eric realized the difference in attack patterns compared to elite monsters. The Boss Leader's varied and player-targeted attacks, combined with its intellectual capabilities and strength surpassing that of elites by four times, posed a formidable challenge.

In just a few moments of combat, Eric's life points had decreased by over 100 from just defending and occasional counterattacks. With his Abyssal Blade and enhanced attributes, Eric managed to sustain extraordinary attacks and evasions, preventing his early demise.

"Eric, I'm coming to help you now," Tonny reacted, realizing his mistake, and swiftly cast a spell, releasing a Shadow Bolt towards the Kobold Leader, dealing only 17 points of damage.

Witnessing the minimal damage, Tonny was astonished by the Kobold Leader's defense. In contrast, Eric's attacks, causing over a hundred damage, showcased his exceptional offensive power.

In the heat of battle, Eric swung his Abyssal Blade.

A black aura penetrated the Kobold Leader's defense gap.

With a loud thud, Eric staggered back three steps, sustaining over 30 points of damage, while the Kobold Leader's axe paused momentarily.

"Seems like my strength is just enough for this attack," Eric expressed satisfaction with his strike.

In Divine Realms: Legends battles, players could not only defend and evade but also interrupt monster attacks, creating a momentary pause that could alter the battle's outcome.

This brief pause exposed a vulnerability in the Kobold Leader.

Without hesitation, Eric charged forward, concentrating all his strength in his right hand, tightly gripping the Abyssal Blade and relentlessly striking.

Four sword beams hit the unprotected flesh.

With added damage effects, nearly 300 life points were swiftly drained from the Kobold Leader, leaving it with just over 900 points. The Kobold Leader, now enraged, discarded its axe and drew two large knives from its waist, altering its attack style.

If the axe-wielding Kobold was a berserker, then the dual-knife-wielding Kobold was a finesse fighter, combining strength and agility to avoid brute force.

The dual knives' attacks were no longer predictable, with increased speed challenging Eric's defenses. The clash of blades sparked dazzling lights, sending Eric flying backward.

Mid-air, Eric saw the Kobold Leader leap, raising its blades for a decisive strike.

"Is the Kobold Leader going all out?" Eric, alarmed, used his Abyssal Blade to defend against the impending blow.

Parry!

The Abyssal Blade blocked the strike, but Eric was sent crashing to the ground. Just when he thought the attack was over, the Kobold Leader descended with both knives aimed at his chest.

Unable to move, Eric faced imminent danger.

"Phantom Slay!"

In a flash, a phantom of Eric appeared nine feet away, swiftly swapping places with the real Eric.

As the Kobold Leader landed, its knives pierced the phantom's chest, draining over 300 life points in an instant.

As the Kobold Leader chuckled at its apparent victory, Eric reappeared behind it, Abyssal Blade emitting a faint black aura.

Nine Dragon Cleave!

Nine phantom Abyssal Blades materialized, swirling around Eric as they pierced through the Kobold Leader's body, inflicting numerous minor wounds but collectively reducing its life points to just over 500.

Anticipating the Kobold Leader's retaliation, Eric wasted no time and used Abyssal Bind, immobilizing the Kobold Leader for three seconds and reducing its defense by 100%.

In the blink of an eye, the tide of battle turned as the Kobold Leader was bound by dark chains from the abyss, unable to move. The relentless attacks of the nine Abyssal Blades caused over twenty points of damage with each strike, rapidly depleting the Kobold Leader's life points to just over 200.

With a roar, the Kobold Leader entered a berserk state, growing significantly in size.

As the three seconds passed, Eric realized the Kobold Leader's power had surged by at least 30% while his own attack and survival skills were on cooldown.

The Kobold Leader's swift and powerful strikes left Eric in a precarious situation, with all his defensive and escape maneuvers unavailable.

Eric and Tonny underestimated the Kobold Leader's explosive power, as it increased not only in strength and defense but also in agility.

In less than two seconds, the Kobold Leader closed the 60-foot gap.

With a powerful swing of its dual knives, the Kobold Leader aimed directly at Eric.

Just in time, Eric activated Gravity Liberation, executing a Wind-chasing Sword maneuver to dodge the blades and confront a newly spawned Kobold Miner.

Witnessing Eric's struggle, Tonny shivered, casting unfamiliar spells as Shadow Bolts shot out towards the Kobold Leader. Despite the challenging speed of the Kobold Leader, the distance bought them time for Eric's counterattacks.

However, both Eric and Tonny underestimated the Kobold Leader's burst of power, as it swiftly closed the gap with unmatched agility.

Raising its knives for a final strike, the Kobold Miner was cleaved in half before Eric's eyes, showering him with blood. The near-miss blade grazed his cheek, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow.

As the Kobold Leader prepared for another strike, Eric raised his Abyssal Blade, unleashing three lightning strikes that pierced through the Kobold Leader's body, dealing the final blow and ending its reign of terror.

With the Kobold Leader defeated, Eric breathed a sigh of relief.

The formidable Kobold Leader had posed a significant challenge, and it was only through luck that Eric, a 5th-level character clad in bronze armor, managed to emerge victorious. His timely use of abilities and cooldowns, such as the Thunderbolt spells, played a crucial role in his survival.
