Chapter 40 Sun Temple

The crimson lake water, churned up by numerous speeding Water Elementals, sent waves crashing against The lair of the Tiny Murloc.

Waves as tall as a person swept through the lair of the Tiny Murloc, destroying numerous small wooden huts.

Hundreds of Tiny Murlocs in the lair went berserk, shouting and screaming as they grabbed their weapons and jumped into the water, heading for the cave beneath the lair."Double insurance?" Eric looked back and was startled.

There were not just hundreds of Water Elementals, but also hundreds of Tiny Murlocs following behind them. Even two or three elite squads would be unable to defeat them.

Eric had no choice but to speed up and rush into the cave, seeking his only chance of survival.

However, Eric's underwater speed was plodding, unlike the Druid skill Seal Shapeshift, which could increase underwater movement speed by 50%. Eric's underwater movement speed was reduced by 50%.

He saw that he was still 60 feet from the cave entrance, but the enraged Water Elementals were quickly closing in, getting closer and closer to him.

126 feet... 84 feet... 60 feet... 30 feet...

Just as Eric was 15 feet from the cave entrance, the Water Elementals caught up to him, swinging their massive icy water fists at Eric's head.

Water Elemental attacks had a chilling, slowing effect; if Eric got hit, he would be stuck until death.

He quickly turned around and used Parry to block the first Water Elemental's fist. With the immense power of the Water Elemental, Eric managed to move his body backwards quite a distance. However, the remaining Water Elementals continued charging towards him.

"Looks like I'm heading back to town." Eric felt helpless as he saw hundreds of Water Elementals in front of him.

Just as Eric was about to give up, he floated into the cave entrance. Inside the entrance, he saw a humanoid ghost wandering around about 90 feet away.

Eric didn't care about the consequences anymore; he decided to go as far as he could, hoping to gain some rewards and prepare for the next time. He used Wind-chasing Sword to rush forward, his speed suddenly increasing significantly, like a Stormblade sweeping through, narrowly escaping the Water Elementals and reaching the shore of the cave. Out of the water, the Water Elementals' speed drastically decreased, and they couldn't keep up with the speeding Eric.

After leaving the water, Eric quickly rushed to the humanoid ghost. Just as Abyssal Blade was about to slice the ghost's neck, Eric realized that the semi-transparent ghost hadn't attacked him.

He quickly changed the direction of his sword, narrowly missing the ghost, and avoided provoking its hostility.

"That was close." Eric broke out in a cold sweat after seeing the ghost's stats.

Warrior Freud was a Grand Lord, Level 25, HP 360000/360000.

If he had attacked Freud and provoked its hostility, even 1000 HP wouldn't have been enough for Eric to survive.

In Divine Realms: Legends, warriors were second only to heroes in strength. In the kingdom, warriors enjoyed a status higher than marquises, second only to dukes. Even in death, as a ghost, Freud was a Grand Lord-level monster, a dominant force among monsters.

This ghost warrior couldn't be taken down by anything less than an elite hundred-man team of level 30.

'Could he be the guardian?' Eric wondered as he looked at Warrior Freud.

Generally, places with treasures had a guardian. The Tiny Murlocs and Water Elementals outside were, at most, gatekeeping servants, not worthy of guarding essentia treasures. Eric didn't dare to linger, as a large group of monsters was still chasing him, he quickly ran deeper into the cave.

The cave was quite large, with a staircase passage leading straight down to the depths below. Going down this way should lead Eric to the Sagestone.

As Eric reached the stairway, he saw a massive group of Water Elementals and Tiny Murlocs charging at him, seemingly determined to fight to the death.

"Lowly creatures dare to defile this sacred place. Receive divine retribution!" Warrior Freud's eyes suddenly blazed with anger as he drew a dark golden greatsword, exuding a fierce aura as if he were the sole ruler of the world.

The dark golden greatsword was raised high, and the surrounding air grew heavy.

With a roar, Warrior Freud swung the sword with both hands, creating a strong wind. A sword beam swept through the bodies of all the Water Elementals and Tiny Murlocs, turning them to ashes, and the cave entrance collapsed.

"So powerful!" Eric exclaimed in awe.

He had vastly underestimated the warrior's strength. That single strike could wipe out an elite hundred-man team of level 30. It would probably take a three-hundred-man elite team to challenge him.

He hadn't expected that the Water Elementals and Tiny Murlocs were unworthy even as gatekeeping servants and were directly eliminated.

Eric wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Thankfully, he was human and not a lowly creature; otherwise, he would have met the same fate as those Water Elementals and Tiny Murlocs.

"This is ruthless. I can only keep going down." He glanced at the collapsed cave entrance, now impassable even for a worm.

The staircase leading underground was spiral, with some kind of light magic on the rock walls illuminating the entire staircase. The staircase was long, but fortunately, there was no danger. Eric walked for a full half hour before reaching a spacious hall at the bottom.

The hall was the size of a football field, resembling a temple, resplendent and magnificent. The walls were adorned with numerous pictures and inscriptions, and at the far end of the temple was an altar with a golden chest on it, flanked by two golden statues holding greatswords.

System: [ Player discovered Sun Temple. ]

"Sun Temple?" Eric had never heard of it before. In his previous life, there was no information about the Sun Temple. It appeared that no player had ever discovered it, so it had never been featured on the official website. However, it looked dangerous.

But Eric didn't care. He approached the golden altar; his goal was the Sagestone, which should be in the golden chest.

As Eric stepped onto the altar, he felt a chill emanating from the two massive golden statues. He didn't know what would happen if he took the Sagestone.

But he had no other choice; the entrance was blocked. He had to take the Sagestone. Eric slowly opened the golden chest, which emitted a golden light that illuminated the entire temple. As the golden light gradually faded, he saw three items inside the chest. Without hesitation, Eric took them all.

"Damn, no way. Is this really the Sagestone?" Eric looked at the thumb-sized blood-red stone in his hand, feeling a bit disappointed.

Sagestone (Fragment)

Epic Special Item (Dropped upon death)

An alchemical relic capable of turning stone into gold and resurrecting the dead, among many other miraculous uses. However, it was shattered into five pieces by the Sword Emperor Rennet. Despite being broken, the Sagestone retains excellent power, and gathering all five pieces will restore its full strength.

Usage Effect: Due to its damaged state, the Sagestone's power was less than one-tenth of its original. It can only be used for alchemical transmutation and elemental refinement.

Although the Sagestone's effect was significantly reduced, Eric was still satisfied. With these two functions, he could accomplish many things.

The other two items were a level 10 fine gold greatsword and a magic teleportation scroll."This is a real treasure." Eric was thrilled as he looked at the golden greatsword in his hand. Without a doubt, this item was the finest piece of equipment aside from a Demonic Weapon.

Equipping this greatsword would make him invincible among level 10 players.

At this moment, the statues on both sides began to tremble, their eyes glowing red as they locked onto Eric.

Eric immediately used the magic teleportation scroll. Golden magic runes enveloped him, initiating a 3-second casting time to teleport to a player-specified location.

Although the magic scroll was extremely valuable, with very few available in the entire Divine Realms: Legends, dying here would be a massive loss for Eric.

As the golden statues swung their greatswords at him, Eric vanished from the temple with a swoosh.
