Chapter 65 Dark Iron-tier Ches
Eric put away the Silver Moon helmet and ventured deeper into the stone forest, searching for more Mountain Bear Warriors.
Previously, Eric had been so preoccupied with the terror of Moonstone and Luminescent Grove that he had forgotten entirely that Luminescent Grove was an undeveloped map rich with treasures. In his past life, by the time he arrived, it had already been ravaged by top-tier and second-tier guild experts, leaving only scraps, and he had to compete with many guilds for those.
But even the scraps were out of reach for ordinary players.
By the time ordinary players arrived, it had already been looted countless times, yet they still considered it a treasure trove. One could only imagine how enticing the pristine Luminescent Grove must have been.
Now that he had arrived early, the top-tier and second-tier guilds wouldn't get a chance. He would personally explore every inch of it, thoroughly looting it, and let those guilds taste the leftovers for once.
Two hours later, after slaying Mountain Bear Warriors along the way, Eric successfully acquired 3 Moonstones and a considerable assortment of gold and valuable materials. Ultimately, he arrived at the core of the stone forest.
Eric stumbled upon a Mountain Bear Warrior camp, guarded by more than forty Mountain Bear Warriors, with several patrol squads nearby, totaling over a hundred.
Mountain Bear Warrior camps were known for their treasures. Many guilds would send twenty elite squads to clear out various monster camps in Luminescent Grove regularly, and the loot was always good.
But this Mountain Bear Warrior camp had never been cleared, promising an incredible treasure trove, possibly even enough Moonstones to get numerous Tier 1 gem equipment.
However, each camp was tough to handle. If it weren't for the dense rocks here, Eric would have bypassed it without a second thought. The narrow paths, allowing at most two Mountain Bear Warriors side by side, made it an ideal spot for grinding them. It would be a shame to pass it up.
So, Eric picked up a few small stones from the ground and quietly approached.
To avoid uncertainties, Eric decided to lure them all at once. Otherwise, if he encountered a group of Mountain Bear Warriors halfway through kiting, it would be certain death. The key to luring these Mountain Bear Warriors was to deal with their charge attacks. If not handled properly, he could be endlessly charged to death, a frustrating experience he had faced before. Despite his formidable strength, Eric was shocked to meet his demise under the relentless onslaught of charging monsters.
Although each Mountain Bear Warrior charged only once, a hundred of them meant a hundred charges. Players had to make them charge simultaneously, which was extremely difficult.
With his current health, he couldn't withstand two hits from a Mountain Bear Warrior, so that he couldn't afford any mistakes. He had to make all the Mountain Bear Warriors charge at him simultaneously and then dodge the subsequent damage to have a chance to kill them.
Making several waves of Mountain Bear Warriors charge simultaneously required precise timing. Otherwise, it would be a massacre, not a grind. But Eric was confident, having been a Sword King and a top-tier expert in the past.
The guarding Mountain Bear Warrior stroked its beloved broadsword with its hairy hand, standing atop the high wall, its blood-red eyes scanning the surroundings. At the sight of an intruder, it would charge and let its hungry broadsword feast.
Suddenly, a stone flew over, hitting the Mountain Bear Warrior on the head. As it turned his head, it noticed a human not far away, holding a stone in their hand. Then, the Mountain Bear Warriorinstinctively touched his throbbing head, enraged by the strike, and his anger surged like a raging fire. How dare an ant throw a stone at it?
With the Mountain Bear Warrior's roar, the entire nest of Mountain Bear Warriors was alarmed and rushed out of the camp towards Eric.
Meanwhile, Eric threw stones at several other squads of Mountain Bear Warriors, quickly enraging them as well, and they charged at him.
Seeing over a hundred Mountain Bear Warriors rushing towards him, Eric remained calm, using Phantom Slay to send his clone into the stone forest while he faced the horde alone. Facing over a hundred Mountain Bear Warriors at once would overwhelm even a twenty-man elite squad, let alone Eric alone.
As more Mountain Bear Warriors closed in, Eric's heart raced. This daring move was thrilling, and any mistake meant death. The long-lost excitement made his blood boil, sharpening his senses.
As the distance between the Mountain Bear Warriors and their targets dwindled to less than 90 feet, the majority of them found themselves within striking distance, ready to charge.
With a roar, the majority of the Mountain Bear Warriors charged simultaneously, with a few lagging behind.
Eric activated Swordsoar Ascension, which could withstand three close-range attacks, and gripped the Abyssal Blade, ready to parry.
As the first wave of charges hit, Eric's parry sent him flying, followed by a second wave that stunned him, leaving him immobile.
Seeing several Mountain Bear Warriors raise their broadswords to strike, Eric held off using any skills.
As the broadswords descended, Eric still refrained from using his swap skill. Swordsoar Ascension's three melee damage immunities were exhausted.
When a broadsword finally struck Eric, his health plummeted by more than half. Another hit would finish him.
The third wave of Mountain Bear Warrior charges arrived, stunning Eric again as the second blow was about to land.
"Swap!" Eric shouted in his mind.
In an instant, Eric and his clone in the stone forest switched places. The clone was struck, and the final wave of charges killed it.
Hiding in the stone forest, Eric quickly took out a bottle of beginner recovery potion and gulpe it down. The sweet and sour taste was pleasant, and his health recovered by 180 points, allowing him to withstand another hit.
With the clone dead, the Mountain Bear Warriors' aggro shifted to Eric in the stone forest, and they charged en masse.
In the stone forest, the terrain favored Eric. He activated a speed scroll and, facing the berserk Mountain Bear Warriors crowded on the narrow path, unleashed a Thunderbolt. Three bolts of lightning struck, instantly dealing over a hundred damage to each.
In less than ten minutes, all the lured Mountain Bear Warriors were dead.
Eric's experience bar, just shy of level four, finally filled, and he leveled up to 4, catching up with the second tier of players.
Eric allocated all six attribute points to strength, boosting his damage. He then cleaned up the loot, finding another pair of Silver Moon greaves, 7 Moonstones, two Tier 1 gems, and numerous materials and Common Level equipment, a decent haul.
But the most valuable treasures were still inside the camp's warehouse, where Mountain Bear Warriors stored their collected treasures.
Having looted the area, Eric swiftly darted into the camp to inspect the treasures stored in the warehouse. "No wonder it's the first time being cleared; there are indeed many treasures," Eric said, spotting several large chests from afar in the warehouse, one of which was a dark iron-tier chest.
Excited, Eric was about to enter the warehouse to inspect the chests when he heard a roar. A silver-armored Mountain Bear Warrior, three times larger than the others, charged out of the warehouse, wielding a giant axe, its red eyes fixed on Eric.
